Welcome to their pedigree; this is Legwork, where they've put in the hours.
Inspired by the trailblazers of House and Techno in the early to mid-nineties, they have seamlessly transitioned into the contemporary dance music landscape of the new century. Their roots in the influential sounds of the past guide them as they shape the future. At Legwork, there is an unwavering commitment to vinyl, the medium that has sculpted their musical journey. It's the heartbeat of their creativity, the driving force behind their music and ideas.
Their mission is clear: to deliver tangible, raw, and unfiltered dance music that speaks to the head, the heart, and, above all, the Legs. Join them as they continue to champion the legacy of vinyl, forging a connection between the past and the present, creating a dancefloor experience that transcends time. Legwork – where the rhythm runs deep, and the dance never stops.
Review: Lance DeSardi and Leopold's Legwork label has never been prolific, but what it does put out is always top drawer. This solo EP from DeSardi, a producer whose career stretches back to the tail end of the nineties, is Legwork's first (and likely only) release of 2023. He predictably hits the ground running with opener 'Zeus', a chunky, trippy and energy-packed house workout in which weird noises and foreboding electronic hooks rise above a seriously sleazy bassline and sweat-soaked house drums. 'Stop Start', meanwhile, builds in waves, with spacey synth sounds, dreamy chords and jazzy riffs being added to a weighty, low-slung bassline and a rolling rhythm track that seemingly combines a funky break with disco drums. It's deep, trippy, alluring and really rather good!
