Review: It's always good to see new heat land from the Liondub International crew, this time welcoming Jinx In Dub and Bluntskull inside for a vibrant 8 track set, opening up alongside Suku for the fiery hook lines of 'Wicked', followed closely grizzly bass intertwines and crunchy percussive influences of 'Bim Bam' alongside Bay-C. Collaboration is clearly a big theme on this project, opening up further with Cheshire Cat jumping into play with the classic hip hop drum drives and syncopated chords of 'Hotta Hotta', before Skarra Mucci takes us back to the 90's with a super smooth roller in 'Listen To Me Now'. The basslines only increase in intensity as we move forward, with Daddy Freddy then unleashing a monstrous vocal on 'To The Top', followed by Blackout JA & Rafeelya joining forces for the more softened arrangements of 'Turn Up The Music'. Review: The Liondub crew have always been excellent at unleashing fresh dancehall fire. This latest drop from Capital D is an excellent example of that in action as the devilish vocal tones and grizzly 808 pulses of 'No Time' kick us off with a bang', followed by the rolling trap-style drums and typically bashment-influenced chord stabs of the title track 'Boiling Hot', topped off again by Capital D's instantly recognizable vocal tones. From here, 'Danger Business' utilizes a steel-drum driven instrumental construct, giving us some sunshine singalong flavour, before 'Have Some Fun' gives us the most uplifting creation of them all for the perfect closer. Review: It's been a hot minute since we last saw a brand new dancehall project that excited us as much as this one as Blackout JA teams up with Liondub International for a twelve track selection, channeling dancehall music into 2021. The list of collaborators for this one is the first thing that stands out for us, with the likes of Daddy Freddy, Ranking Joe, Blakkamoore, Echo Minott, Sophia May, YT, Ricky T & a bag more all getting involved with wicked contributions. It's an album that represents why dancehall still holds a key place in dance music in 2020. There are a couple of clear highlights for us across this release, with 'Love Dancehall' alongside Navigator & Sophia May being a really cool throwback to the original toasted dancehall sound, followed up by the super crunchy arrangements of 'Hidden Truth' with Souls Liberation providing a perfect outro track.

Review: Liondub have a history of blending ferocious cross-genre sounds with penetrating vocal lines, and this EP from Lost City and Riko Dan is no exception. 'Soundboy Calling' is the main item, a stepping, punchy number with an almost afrobeat vibe to the drums, a funky groove that belies its swelling bassline and frenetic energy. Yes back they are, and they're brandishing a brand new weapon, "Gyalis", strengthened by the help of Mr Lexx, Suku Ward and their mics. The original tune sees the latter pair duel, with the former's dominant bassy tones and the latter's higher, toaster shout-outs actually working together perfectly. Siren is their first offering and they've started with a banger - roping in the legendary soundclash MC Suku (aka Ward 21 of Kingston, Jamaica). The original of "Siren" is a buzzy, high-energy electronic skank that's guaranteed to get the place totally lit. Elsewhere the club mix gets looser with dem riddims, the DnB mix is what it says on the tin, but the dancehall version is totally pure joy.

Review: Version excursion: Liondub return to Numa Crew's 2014 album and issue a selection of on-point artists with remix orders. The sharp steppy jump-up of "Bass Hater" gets an added muscular murking from Sub Killaz, a classic jungle roll from Brian Brainstorm and a heads-down growl twist from Samy Nicks. Meanwhile on the dubstep side of Numa Crew's output, "Control" enjoys even more remixes from the likes of Piezo & D Operation Drop (rolling paranoia vibes that border on thoroughbred techno), Lost City (mystic dancehall business) Badjokes (dark style breaks), Liondub (grimy skanks with added voicing from Dirty Smirks) and Meeku (classic jungle Omni Trio feels) Genuinely something for everyone here.

Review: Supporting the debut album from Italian heavy-hitters Numa Crew, this five-track sampler showcases their diversity to the next level. First off, dancehall legend Mr. Lexx comes correct with a heavy vocal delivery on the high-powered "Kill the Whole a Dem". Proper bashment beats and legendary vocal style make this one a solid pick for dancehall reggae DJs everywhere. "Bass Hater" featuring rising star Dub FX, references classic drum & bass and hip hop hybrids, while "Control" is a steady half-time, minimal hip hop-infused track, laden with dub delays and circling synths. "Impossible" is proper jungle with skanking keys, heavy sub bass and classic breaks and finally, "B.M.X" leads off with pitched strings and digitised melodies that become quickly surrounded by heavy 808 sub pressure. High diversity, low-end sounds.
