Review: Despite the natty text speak title this is not a liquid funk EP released by the purple Prince. It is in fact a perfectly formed slice of liquid d&b produced by newcomer Light Of Night who's already become big news in the online liquid world for creating tracks with a unique sense of cinematic beauty about them. This EP shows off his love for old school breaks and soaring strings in a big way. From the euphoric "Sight Of Lifetime" to the breakbeat shuffle and live piano of "So High" it's clear he wants to separate himself from the liquid crowd and has some big ideas. A strong EP well worth its place on the Liquid Brilliants roster.
Review: Expect to pay witness to something rather different here from Liquid Brilliants as Light Of Night present the Graceful album. Jumping straight in and taking no prisoners, "Feels Like A Bass" is a cacophony of crackling drums and eerie instrumentals with a weird, minimal intro and ending. Elsewhere, the experimentalism continues with the lush, mellifluous tones of "Be Mine", the delicate gentleness of "Anybody & Ever" and the precise enunciation and guitar strumming of "Take A Star From My Hands (Feat. Smartmade)".
Review: Mournful and melancholy from the off, this release from Light Of The Night is one for the liquid heads. "Rain Tears", with its rom com connotations and cinematic intro, pairs piano keys in the minor key with rattling breaks, chopped up repeated vocal and yearning instrumentals. "Feel The Difference" (feat Hit n Run) is a deeper cut with bass, horns and a sense of enormity to the emotion. The eponymous track of the EP "Seconds Before Parting" juxtaposes bursts of energy with muffled vocal utterings and "Gray Smoke" rounds things off with gurgling SFX and twinkling melodies.
