Review: Manuel Fischer's debut album wins this month's prize for most unusual title, but it shouldn't overlook the fine music contained within. With releases on labels like Ozelot and Drumpoet Community already to his credit, Fischer is using the album format to expand his vision. Loosely based around break beats, it veers from the warbling acid of "Sci-Fi Breaks From The Rabbit Hole" to the melancholic "Arni Driftking" and mesmerising, droning workouts like the down-the-rabbit hole tip that is "Enter he Void & Chill". While Fischer may have been categorised generally as a house artist - and certainly the lo-fi "Bin Chicken In Fitzroy" pushes in that direction - this is an expansive, out there piece of work.

Review: After three successful EPs for the wider Lobster Theremin unit back in 2015 and 2016, 1800HaighStreet drops an album for the London label, a twelve-track excursion into the shadiest, most deranged forms of house and techno. This is no surprise given the label's rise to fandom and hypedom over the last 3 years, but the producer has still managed to impress thanks to a glorious collection of distorted electronics. Each tune is very much focused on the dancefloor, however, and as such, thr label heads have dedicated no more than 2 tunes per side. Jeff Mills style, innit!? Gloriously hallucinogenic loops and a torrential downpour of harmonies encircle the entirety of this release, making it akin to the sort of no nonsense techno that emanated from the infamous Tresor basement back in the 90s. Hardcore gear. No bullshit.

Review: The Lobster Theremin team have an almost ingenious ear for unearthing the unusual yet palpable within their catalogue, a theme they once again find themselves subscribed to as Bloomfeld unleashes this outstanding 'Larp OS' LP drop, exploring the vast swathes of the unknown regions surrounding electronic music production. From the almost post-bashment style arrangements of 'Need More Sky' to the icey percussive flutters of 'Osmosis' and euphoric, techno-inspired arrangements of 'Where Were U Rly Born', we find ourselves being thrown left, right and centre with this outstanding collection. Our highlights would include the super swingy synthetics of 'Bad Idea', which really does send us down a wonky avenue indeed, next to the post-dubstep style arrangement of 'QR vs PIN', which again packs a mega punch.

Review: Sam Black's Slacker project, nursed to life through Lobster Theremin over the years, is granted a debut album on the label following Amen To The Lonely (2017) and Leviathan (2019). What Would I Do With Saturn sees Slacker fully export his hybrid and atmospheric take on the hardcore and jungle continuum. Wading in with the timeless ambient number "Let These Waves Wash Upon You", heavy stepping drums, searing rave synths and mad acid sequences rear their head "Nothing Is Enough" next to a more emotive "As I Fear The Ground Opening". With tumbling drums and stutter effects holding down "My Own Moon", syncopated beats stand out in "The New Face Of England" with deep, oriental and fresh as f*** jungle hitting the spot in "One Hundred Ideas". A hugely fresh LP adopting old school influences with new school techniques for a release that looks to both the past and present.

Review: Trudge is back on Lobster Theremin to follow up the great Self Love Club release here with a full debut LP. No More Motivation is a conceptual opus said to be inspired by tragic life events, yet demonstrates that there's a wide range in the French artist's sonic arsenal. From the rolling and cavernous breaks of opening cut "Bangkok Radio", the glacial and engulfing dub techno of "Mazzomba", taking you to the other side of euphoria on the saucer-eyed ambient journey "Berserk" and going into dystopian electro territory on the suitably titled "Punishments".

Review: Fittingly, Szilveszter Horvath's long-awaited debut album as Route 8 was directly inspired by the Hungarian highway after which his artistic alias is named. It's one he has travelled many times over the years, hence his desire to create an album of "cruising music" that would sound good on journeys down the motorway. In practice, that means a fine musical excursion that blends warming deep house and futuristic Motor City techno sounds with elements of blissful ambient techno (see inspired opener 'Departure' and 'Arrival'), deep acid electro ('Nowhere', snappy closing cut 'This Far'), Pete Namlook style weightless ambient ('Interlude'), two-step ('4th Journey') and near horizontal synth-pop ('Tomorrow Comes Today'). The results are certainly ear-pleasing and rarely less than superb.

Review: Hypnotherapy is Nthng's second album, and it underlines the fact that he's one of the most varied artists working in electronic music. On "50 Flower" and 'Beautiful Love", the Dutch producer delivers dreamy ambience before moving into the throbbing groove of "I Just Am', which also features care-free vocals and a clanging rhythm. "Heitt" sees him up the pace for a peak-time, tranced-out groove. However, throughout the release his touch is never rough or visceral - as the pulsating Detroit techno rhythm of "Wave Return" demonstrates so effortlessly. If you are looking for soulful electronic music with a distinctive touch, then you've come to the right place.

Review: Sometime mystery deep house producer Grant - now revealed to be an alias of Frank & Tony member Anthony Collins -has a track record that many of his peers surely envy. To date, he's barely put a foot wrong and "Fantasy Blues", his first full-length outing on Lobster Theremin, is another superb set. Warm, melodious, musically detailed and far more imaginative than most deep house albums you'll hear this, the set sees Collins slip between oven-hot, jazz-funk influenced electronica ("Ephemeral Chase"), revivalist early '90s NYC deep house ("Mind & Space", "Finite Elements"), loose-and-languid ultra-deep goodness ("Amaranthine Profundity", "Blurred Harmony") and the kind of relaxed, intergalactic fare that sits somewhere between ambient techno and ocean-deep dream house. In other words, it's superb.

Review: Nthng has put out a handful of records, mainly for Lobster Theremin, and now follows these with an expansive, varied debut album. There's the lean but deep Detroit techno of "Galaxy", the title track's spacious claps and dramatic synth washes as well as "Soms" and "Abyss", where he lays down the kind of billowing but immersive dance floor tracks that have echoes of classic Sterac and Ross 154. There are hints of Lobster Theremin's more typically abrasive approach on the tonal blips of "Unity", but in the main this is a reflective affair, as evidence by the sensuous ambience of "Touches" and "In My Dreams".

Review: The work of Kreggo, who is known for aliases such as G-23 and DJ Groov, Introspective was recorded in the rural Italian village where he was raised. Recalling the IDM-sounding of fellow Italian producers D'Arcangelo and in places the lush, bucolic melodies of Boards of Canada - especially on the gentle back beats and serene sounds of "Mind Blooming" - it's a mellow, affair. Even when he manages to push towards the dance floor, as is the case on the lo-fi "Blue Seq" or the more uptempo break beats and melancholic tones of "Look at Me", the approach is always understated. It's another victory for Lobster Theremin's A&R department.

Review: This LP and 10" package marks Stephan Olbricht's return to Lobster Theremin, a label he last graced back in 2014. While much of the imprint's recent output has echoed the distorted, industrial-tinged dirtiness explored by L.I.E.S, For Perfect Beings is a quietly melodious and hypnotic affair, albeit with occasional forays into more clandestine territory (see the muffled creepiness of "Blambestrid", and the otherworldly ambience of "Gesnaria"). For the most part, the Romanian's dancefloor instincts appear to have been subdued in favour of more atmospheric and thoughtful fare, though "Ovacrwded (Fast)" - housed on the accompanying 10" - does a good job combining elements of deep techno, dub techno, and crusty, distortion-heavy experimentalism.

Review: D.Dan launches his latest EP in storming form; "Switchblade (Descendant Mix)", with its visceral kicks and wild filtered builds, sounds inspired by the more abrasive end of the Synewave catalogue. On the title track, he opts again for a heads-down approach, with ominous filtered chords underpinned by tough kicks, while on "Burnout", the pace picks up and the drums are more relentless as the Berlin-based producer's track hurtles its way towards Advent-style intensity. "Escape The Echo Chamber" is less pac-y and resounds to a rolling house groove and vocal snippets, but even here the underlying feeling is one of understated menace. Offering some solace for battered ears is the deep techno of "Take It Easy".

Review: Hot on the heels of Eps on FTP, Mechatronica and Dark Net, Salome delivers her debut release for Lobster Theremin. Both "Stalker" and "Doppleganger" are as dark as Russian winters, with ominous bass tones fused with austere, stepping rhythms. On "Misbehaviour", Salome conjures up an equally powerful soundscape, with pummelling drums providing the backdrop for menacing synth hooks, while "Terror" resounds to rickety broken beats. Lobster Theremin has also commissioned electro maestro Jensen Interceptor to remix "Terror" - and he doesn't disappoint, dropping recycled rave riffs over the kind of murky rhythm that one would normally associate with the Hacker.

Review: Marco Gomez aka False Witness makes a big splash on his debut for Lobster Theremin. The title track is a pounding, industrial affair, dystopian in mood and led by a pulsating. juggernaut bass. "Onlyfans" is also a peak-time track, with Gomez dropping steely kicks and a relentless, jacking rhythm that is tailor made to be used in the mix. "Bossa Bathrooms" has a hard dance feeling, as False Witness deploys euphoria inducing builds and a visceral, distorted bass to devastating effect. Meanwhile, on "NYNYNYNYNYNY" he channels ebm influences to deliver a ghoulish workout, as unsettling as a late night ride on the underground.

Review: Lobster Sleep Sequence is developing into a fine label with each new release, with its parent brand - Lobster Theremin - doing its very best to branch out into all corners of the electronic game. This new LP form Sonikku is a delightful deviation of the senses, carrying a noticeable sway of airy melodies without the use of heavy, distorted beats, or gratuitous noise-filtered bric-a-brac. In fact, the majority of this album is composed of delicate atmospherics showcasing the more placid side of downtempo, offering listeners an ambient texture which successfully merges a whole array of styles and influences together under one banner. Lovely.

Review: Time to recognise! Carlton Doom - a booming force of industrial-sized electro - surfaces on Lobster Theremin fresh from his last outing on Hypercolour. Turning in a hugely inspired EP of toxic muscle for Lobster Theremin, this six-track Binmen, Machines, Insects & More EP sees the artist go from quashed-futuristic fidget in "Insects In The Jelly" to epic bassline hoovers in "Binmen Of The Apocalypse". "Scatterbrain" looks to more distorted IDM and experimental sounds while "E Machine" pitches a slo-mo electro shuffle against a flurry of breakbeats, smoothed out saw waves and a familiar computer vox. "I Am The Creator" is the sludge techno track of the record with its Den Haag-like rave sensibilities that's twisted into ambient-laced jungle via an Interplanetary Criminal Rebirth remix.

Review: With a few albums and releases on labels such as Pinkman and Computer Controlled to his credit, Norwell aka Bal?zs Semsei is making a name with his grainy take on electronic music. That approach is brought sharply into focus on New Physics, his Lobster Theremin debut. "Base-1" unravels to menacing synths, while the title track and "Paradox Logic" are grainy electro funk tunes that feature blasts of analogue noise and tight, steely drums. "Motif" sees Semsei again focus on experimentation - this time thanks to his use of a murky wall of bass - while both "Humanoid Forms" and "Train To Inamuragasaki" mark a return to the grainy electro that prevails on this EP.

Review: Having appeared previously on a compilation earlier this year, Softcoresoft aka Leticia Trandafir now makes her full debut. She gets off to an impressive start with the dark, tunnelling techno of "Meteor Shower", which sounds like Mike Parker on a bad trip. "Mycophilia" is similarly inclined, with Trandafir adding some eerie synths to the pulsating groove. It could pass for a more cerebral and indeed ethereal take on acid techno. She continues to ride the 303 wave on "Overstatement (Space Edit)", but on this occasion adds in spiky break beats, while "Social Compost" sees her go back to the dance floor with a tough, grinding workout.

Review: Building a storied discography through labels like Isaiah Tapes, E-Beamz and now Lobster Theremin, one Ray Kandinski delivers Garant - jungle, footwork, rave and house-infusion galore! Frolocking through lush motor and windy city synths, tones, pads and basslines, Kandinski's beatier influences come from across the Atlantic, taking in UK club culture that should appeal to all kinds of heads and dancers. Get some electro and rave throwdowns via "The Mack" next to some subtle Deep Sea Dweller motifs in "Healing". "No Love" pushes toward a liquid drum and bass realm while "Zonin" delivers some stripped-backed jungle - warmed up by an undeniable Chicago house bassline. The title-track looks to positive breakbeats and electronic melodies, with "95" your floral, vibrant and colourful bonus beat.

Review: Breaking through the surface last year with a sweet run of releases via the likes of E-Beamz, Sneaker Social Club and Lobster Theremin, the Sheffield three-piece Denham Audio return to the latter with another five-track missive: Transcendence. Taking in the slightest of bleep references atop a jungle groove and soundboy lyrics is "Run Da Ting", get a second bite out of something similar (only graced by rave) in "Retort". Its lead track "Transcendence (feat 7ip7o3)" sees a lo-fi, trippy and drum and bass sound flirt with vocals and textures that evoke imagery from the film Lost in Translation, while for something retro, housier and garage tipped its all about "Top Boy" and "Club Culture".

Review: Originally released earlier this year on vinyl via Lobster Theremin's SITU offshoot, Orange Circles marks the debut of previously unheard British producer Memphis Glass. As debuts go, it's one of the most accomplished we've heard for a while. With Memphis Glass drifting between spacey, sub-powered deep house beauty ('Orange Circles'), angular, analogue-rich retro-futurism ('Ilford Depot'), shuffling, picturesque soundscape house ('Robots in Lust') and ultra-melodic dancefloor positivity (the fluid waves of synthesizers, dusty machine drums and floatation tank vocal samples of 'Zunk'). The EP's one remix comes from DOS, who gives 'Zunk' a warmer, hazier and ultimately even more attractive spin.

Review: Having found a debut release through the Lobster Theremin network via its SITU Records sub label in 2020, Kempston Hardwick now arrives on its parent platform through the five-track EP, Mowbray Street. Inspired by UK garage at large, expect a spectrum of house and touch of electro to grace this EP that's full of pumping drum machine percussion, jackin' rhythms and repetitive pads. With some funky, b-boy breaks entering the mix in "Provoke Iddy", the EP's title-track shines the strongest light on the artist's love for garage. With something more low-slung and Chicago sounding coming through in "Have You Stopped It" get more of a fundamental house groove in "Channel" next to the two-stepping, acid and electro-synthy beats of "Apologies to 25".

Review: Puyain Sanati aka Grammar of Movement debuted on Lobster Theremin back in 2016, and for his return release, the underground artist is releasing on the Lobster UNDR sub-label. The title track is a hyperactive electro roller that resounds to chilling synths and a bubbling groove. On "Model 1600", Sanati drops the tempo but ups the mystery levels, as a plunging bass and razor-sharp percussion undercuts eerie synth lines. On "IOI", there is a similar vibe, but this time, the mood descends into frostiness thanks to a combination of atmospheric pads and blurry 808s. "Sad Juno" sees Sanati bring his sound back into sharper focus with crispy drums supporting chiming melodies.

Review: Concrete club resident Sweely is fast becoming one of France's most talked-about DJ/producers. The hype is partly based on his club-rocking skills, but also on the quality of his on-point productions. This latest excursion on Lobster Theremin is shamelessly floor-friendly in tone, with the young Frenchman effortlessly joining the dots between acid house, bass-heavy UK house and garage, and more soulful U.S deep house flavours. Check, in particular, the throbbing, lo-fi bounce of "You Don't Really Want Me", where ragged acid lines and soulful vocal samples wrap around a bustling groove, and the bombastic, breakbeat-driven peak-time assault that is "Stronger Than Me". Elsewhere, he finds time to flit between TB-303 abuse and Rhodes playing on "Acid City" and indulges his love of blazed, hip-hop style beatmaking via closer "You Do".

Old school techno inspired by the early '90s is the flavour on the fittingly titled No Warehouse Needed EP. Menstasms, breakbeats and classic chord progressions are on display with the title track, while classic German trance gets an impressive tribute on the high octane antics of "Hate In The Pants". Even the throwback sounds of early jungle is revisited on the loved-up and evocative "Strictly Cut".

Review: Jeals comes from 'Poland via the USA' according to Lobster Theremin, but as Flux demonstrates, his sound encompasses many strands. Opening track "W Scape" is a dreamy ambient affair, while "What It's All About" sees him deliver a delightful oddball house affair, combing the London label's in-house jerkiness with some early Dan Curtin-style jazz influences. On "Gentle Chain", Jeals moves into warm, downtempo electro, but picks up the pace again for the US house of "Flexx". Rounding off what is a deeply impressive debut release is "Up There", where the newcomer combines blips and frequency tones with crashing claps and a jerky rhythm.

Review: Lobster Theremin has described this label debut from rising deep house star Brian Abelson AKA See Other as a: "humble mixture of low-slung Smallville-esque warmth, Fred P deepness and playful, tinkering melodies". It's an apt description. Abelson has a knack for balancing the needs of the dancefloor with the right level of attractive musicality, as can be seen on the synth-bass propelled late night positivity of 'Fallin" and the sumptuous, lightly sauteed deepness of "Linda". Elsewhere, "Pushin" successfully combines the rhythmic dexterity of classic broken beat with the drowsiness of deep house and "Change" is so deep and quietly soulful that it could have been written and produced at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.

Review: Los Angeles based Grant heads up The Lauren Bacall, which has presented work by Gable, AVA and Bardot.. but then again they could possibly be more of his own aliases. After his impressive LP entitled Cranks on Mork, he now returns to its parent label Lobster Theremin, with the No Lights EP. It features several servings of house and techno memoirs captured to VHS. Starting off with the neon lit vocal-led anthem "Feeling" (Vocal mix), there's the mandatory lo-fi jam in the form of the darkly stripped back and heads down groove of "Values". The title track is particularly impressive: a woozy and hypnotic after hours groove with some nifty drum computer moves and those moody Mr. Fingers style pads that navigate their way through all the tape saturation.

Review: D3070 may not be a household name, but on Deep Impact this artist provides a masterclass in underground electro. The release starts with the gritty "Booster"; with its sharp percussion and frazzled 808s, it's exactly the kind of raw jam that you would expect to hear on Bunker. On "Voyager 1", D3070 ventures farther into the abyss to deliver a spaced-out piece of mood music, while "Deep Impact" makes for a more considered take on the sound explored on "Booster". The release then takes an unexpected turn, with this mysterious artist dropping the deeper ERP-influenced "New Era", before "Humint", concludes this brilliant EP with a captivating, low-slung dirge.

Review: Following his release for 1? Pills Mate, Tred drops a frenetic EP for the mother label, Lobster Theremin. The title track sets the tone for I'm Not Like, with a high-octane, rolling rhythm peppered with dense filters and obscure movie samples. On "Dead Droid", Tred maintains the same tempo, but ventures down a deeper route thanks to the use of nickel-plated percussion and immersive, atmospheric textures. On "Secrets", he focuses again on a high-paced tempo, but this time weaves tranced out melodies into the skeletal rhythm. This dayglo theme continues on the Eye Q-influenced, symphonic trance of "Don't Need A Thing", before the EP concludes with the airy ambiance of "All Messed Up".

Review: Five years after his debut release, Sean Dodd aka Reflec returns to Lobster Theremin for a great follow-up. In the intervening years, he has put out material on the Clergy imprint, but this EP sees him mix up styles. The title track resounds to a rumbling jungle bass, while on "Wolf", searing acid and broken beats vie for the listener's attention. "Hiatus" sees Dodd up the pace to deliver a jittery, 303-soaked drum'n'bass track, while on "Chrysalis", he opts for a more playful approach, as vocal snippets and wobbly sound effects inhabit the percussive groove. Finally, "Orchid" sees Dodd slow down the pace for a more atmospheric cut.
