Nuclear Medicine (The Running Man remix) - (5:11) 132 BPM
Nuclear Medicine (Erik Bruce remix) - (7:30) 124 BPM
Review: Next up on Lowering The Tone, a high energy flick through some top level remix work as Meat Katie sees her fabulous original 'Nuclear Medicine' undergo three separate rethinks, all bringing something new to the table. First up, Pook arrives to unveil a smokey sift through jittering chords and vibrant chord stutters. Next, a dab of breaksy beef as The Running Man arrives to give this one a more acidic overhaul, focussing on moogy synths across the low end, before Eric Bruce arrives to give his entrancing touch to proceedings. Overhaul, this is a solid collection of remixes that give an already vibrant original three new leases of life.

Believe In Me
Believe In Me - (5:21) 128 BPM Hot
Believe In Me (Ben Coda remix) - (7:26) 128 BPM
Believe In Me (Hironimus Bosch remix) - (5:57) 129 BPM
Review: Lowering the Tone started off as a podcast series and has since evolved into UK producer Mark Pember aka Meat Katie's label of choice. Pember rose to prominence as part of the 'nu breaks' scene of the late 90s, and on the title track, this influence is still writ large. The rhythm is stepping, vocals sweep in and out over a gritty filter and techno stabs, and the end product has a dramatic, insistent feeling. Ben Coda, who released on Lot49 before its demise, deliv-ers a straight techno version, led by furious kicks and a throbbing bass, while the Hironimus Bosch take is more under-stated but still packs a gut-busting sub-bass.
