Nature's Candy (Explicit)
Throw Yo Hood Up - (3:51) 135 BPM
Proteins - (4:03) 128 BPM
EXIT D - (5:21) 128 BPM Hot
Slangin This Dick - (3:32) 65 BPM
Review: Astronomar seems very well-positioned to reign supreme over the future of troop and house, with this new EP for Main Course sounding like it could appeal across the board...and throughout the clubs. "Throw Yo Hood Up" is driven bby a steady 4/4 beat but the vocal samples and minimalistic drum-machine melodies make it something altogether more hob rind in nature, and a whole lot more experimental. "Proteins" is similarly wacky and phased-out, with raucous vocal chops once again stomping through the harsh percussion shots, while "Exit D" performs a glitchy rave dance filled with bleeps and mildly industrial nuances, leaving "Slangin This Dick" to (explicitly) lash out a banging, hypnotic loop of bad manners and chunky breaks.

Review: There's no denying the fact the America's Main Course label is now a hotspot for the very best in UK post-step...and our intention is, indeed, to be loose with that terminology as much of the output is made up of non-genre bass experiments - which we dig the most! Newcomer Garneau is the perfect new addition to their catalogue thanks to the producer's ingenious sonic constructions. "Old School", as the name suggests, opens up on a modern rendition of UK hardcore, made more fluid from Garneau's ear, with both "Shake" and "UH" smashing out more fat beats and bleep-centric sounds. "Wants" and "Deep" add an ulterior vibe of joy and decadence via off-beat grooves filtered through a sci-fi vision of the warehouse...

Lux Groove - "Keep Rockin" - (6:16) 125 BPM
GAWP - "Vanilla Gorilla" - (5:12) 125 BPM Hot
Jai Biotic - "Music Is Drohgz Too" - (6:16) 125 BPM
Review: The Main Course imprint ain't messing about with this their instalment of the Big Plates series. The usual suspects are involved, starting with Big Makk and the militant bass gunshot that is "Tabasco Sawse", followed hastily by the UK-laden, pseudo techno of "Spooky Hallway" from Sven Lochenhoer. Lux Groove offers a percussive feeding frenzy with the hard-hitting house slicer named "Keep Rockin", GAWP's "Vanilla Gorilla" is a bubbly tech-house slinger, and "Music Is Drohgz Too" by Jai Biotic manages to create a total hybrid from the best parts of house and dubstep wobble. Pull up!

Review: The Main Course label keeps getting stronger and stronger, a powerful beast that offers consistently high levels of bass and more. This is the third chapter of their Year compilations and, once again, we're presented with a heavy assortment of gnarly rhythms from players like Kid Kamillon, Damn Kids, Kito, Three Mike B. The thing is, if you're looking for a good dose of contemporary base that sits all under one hefty compilation, you've pretty much struck gold with this.
