Review: A legend of the game and a name that will never be forgotten with the realms of garage and its surrounding neighbours, Wookie is once again back in the driving seat, delivering a tasty four track outing on ManChu Recordings. We open up with the nostalgic bass pulses and catchy drum rolls of "Duppy", an instant heater that will light up any 4x4 dance floor setting. Next, a more eski-influenced fusion of dramatic chord stabs and groovy rhythmic twists in "Hype Up", followed by "Stargate", a more organic, drum-driven switch up. Finally, a dive into the depths as "Loco" focusses on organic drum shuffling and other-worldy pad energy to round off a truly magnificent display in style.
Review: The big, bad Wookie is back on ManChu with some o' dat ol' time garage we dig so much! The prosperous producer gets better with each new Ep pumped out from this tidy imprint, and we love the fact that it's just all about the music here - all killer, and absolutely no filler! This magnetic remastering of "Gallium" is a pleasure to every part of your dancing body; there is just something so pleasing about its straight, effective house groove that only hints at something more garage-centric. That is, 4/4 beats dominate the equation, along with a fine sprinkling of vintage piano keys, but there is plenty of UK sensibility at its core, making this an absolute beauty to get that floor jam-packed!
