Review: The run that the Manuka brand has been on over the last 2 years has been nothing short of excellent, with this latest offering from head honcho: Hypho and the explosive production techniques of Chef Boyarbeatz giving us three new spicy rollers. First up, an absolute devastator of an anthem from the pair as 'Smokers Club' sees a lethal combination of writhing LFO sweeps and hard hitting sublines deployed for a legendary combination. Next, Hypho steps out on solo duty for the warbling swampy subs of 'Akanum', giving us a slightly different feeling, before the dungeon-heavy epic of 'SELECTAH' sees Chef Boyarbeatz deliver a spine-tingling display. Very tidy indeed.

Review: With the dubstep sound constantly expanding, it continues to welcome in the gnarliest vocal displays from it's cousin genre of grime, this time seeing Grim Sickers joining up with Amadeo for a hard hitting three track display. First up, uneasy percussion and crispy percussive clumps are heard running riot on 'Fully Grim', over which we hear a ghosty vocal display from Grim Sickers, delivering a mind boggling stitching of intense lyricism and grizzly performance. From here, 'Pt.2' continues along similar themes vocally, with the instrumental switching up into a much more melodic drifter, focussing on mystic synth lines and more sharpened drum sounds, matched with a tasty remix from Phossa, who takes the track somewhere completely different amidst a garden of glittering synth lines and percussive melodics. Stunning stuff!

Review: Manuka have been on smoke across their last few releases, with this new offering seeing one of their founders: Hypho return to action with a breaks infused bass-driven masterclass, alongside the productive power of Felixculpah. First up, a shimmering fusion of stuttering drum lines and gnarly sub structures in 'Hostile', a highly energetic title track this is sure to ramp up the intensity of any dancefloor, before the blipping arpeggios of 'Unknown Code' are unleashed in a blaze of braggadocious bass goodness. Next, the bubbling percussive flutters of 'Unilateral Possession' are brought forward, adding another dimension of acidic uniqueness to this already stacked selection, with the slower, more 2-steppy tumbles of 'Shukk' then closing things out in style.

Review: What a wonderful thing it is to see the return of Manuka before the year is out, with this latest catalogue edition seeing the wonderful Ellis Delta join forces with Celebrity Bitcrush for four tracks of futuristic wizardry. We open up with the shimmering arpeggiators and hardcore drum designs of 'Ten Percent', a magnificent combination of new and old school breaks flavour, with 'GetGot' giving us a much more abstract follow up, focussing on dizzying delays and atmospheric pressure. We then up the pace once again as 'Push The Speaker' unleashes some super skippy drum triplets and a constantly shifting backdrop of synthetic chugs, with the acidic carnage of 'Bleep Blop Breaky' giving us a truly unpredictable closer, jam-packed with high energy drum switches from start to finish.

Review: It's always exciting to see the Manuka monika arrive in the store, as they this time welcome a very exciting combination with the infamous sounds of Roklem & Sebalo being introduced to the label with four absolute firecrackers. First up, 'Empathy' fuses a glittering array of syncopated drum sweeps and acidic synthesiser pads above, before the slower, more jittery rhythmic arrangements and industrial backdrops of 'Moving Forward' take hold. From here, 'Nervous' delivers a much more typically steppers-influenced arrangement as bulbous sub sweeps and blippy melodies are introduced in combination over a spacey percussive backdrop, with the emotive harmonic structures and introspective melodies of 'Relieved' then draw the project to a close. Excellent work.

Review: It's always a lively event when Manuka come to town, this time welcoming a vibrant collaboration indeed as head-honcho Hypho links up with both PAV4N and the Foreign Beggars flag for a seriously gnarly creation, throwing us back to the 2010's in sound and style. Hypho does the business with a properly gritty instrumental creation, driving forward with hypnotic tripletted bass stabs and churning synthetic layers doing the business, with a combination of harsh vocal slides and intense lyricism then adding an extra level of enjoyment to the table. A very good single indeed from the Manuka camp!

Review: We've known for a minute that Manuka is one of the real hot spots for genuinely innovative electronic flavour, with this new 'Decades' compilation EP being another great example of that mantra in action. Kicking off with the jittering vocal slices and smooth breaks of Sinic's 'RBF9', we can tell we are already in for a treat, followed closely by the mellow atmospherics and spacey textures of Doc Zee's 'Vibes' and the pure euphoria of Hypho and Megumi Hope's breaksy 'Feel You' original. We then dive into the trippy acidic zones of L=Pad & Jasehip as they unleash the blippy masterclass of '303Bot', before closing the EP off with the super unpredictable rhythms and eerie textures of Canaan's 'Energy Stream' alongside Jules. Fantastic work as per!

Review: The Ternion Sound crew are back in business, and as ever with a Manuka release, they have this time come at the EP building process with something a little bit different in mind. We begin with a breaks-inspired epic with 'The Summoning', a gorgeous display of rhythmic prowess and top quality drum arrangement, delivering an extra dash of flavour through it's spacey pad harmonics in the upper frequencies. Next, Vandull jumps onto the tour bus for a wicked vocal collaboration of 'Watch', unleashing a devilish display of high energy lyricism and rave-ready flows atop another breaksy driver of an instrumental. From here, we hear a more interesting twist on the breaksy sound as a heavily pitched vocal line takes a lead role alongside more nostalgic chord progressions on 'Just Want U Close', before the Benga-like bleeps and eerie pad textures of 'Illusory Contours' see out the EP with a dash of dubstep flavour for good measure.

Review: As always with new releases from the fabulous Manuka imprint, we are absolutely blown away with this new selection from Oxossi, who delivers three tracks of experimental UKG fire. The Manuka mantra is to always push the boundaries of sound, with the title track of this project being named 'Empty Kisses', exploring an organic take of 2-step drum design and ascending harmonic bliss. Next, the shimmering arpeggios and more violent drum slaps of 'Closure' arrive with an array of techy synth twists, followed closely by 'Vou Que Vou', a super creative expedition into grimey melodies and latin vocal slices. This whole EP shows the level of mastery that Oxossi is working at and is an absolute gem of a find from the Manuka team.

Review: We've said it a fair few times, but the Manuka team are undoubtedly one of the most impressive electronic labels in the UK right now. Their constant expansion into the zones surrounding dubstep is so ear opening and this latest two tracker from Aagentah and Dread MC is a perfect example. We kick off with the futuristic arrangements and powerful bass textures of 'Breathin' Space', which utilizes Dread MC's vocal in as many ways as possible, layering it above clunky percussive chimes and bitcrushed basslines. On the flip, the pace quickens significantly as 'Called Upon' combines spacy pads with a lethal set of half time rhythms, upping the pace in any dance as soon as it lands.

Review: The Bristol to Manchester link up is strong with this brand new Manuka drop, as they welcome the dynamic duo of 'Spektralsound' inside for their debut EP release. The title track 'Metal Tears' is a perfect starting point for exploring their sound, as industrial landscapes of pinging percussion are joined by delicate flute-like synths, before the VIP mix sends the track to a whole new dimension. Finally, 'Bioluminescent' gives us a glistening, aquatic soundscape of beautiful chords and distant vocal delays, before 'Sunset Somewhere' provides us with the perfect finale of techy drum designs and soothing subs. Review: It has been very hard for anyone to keep pace with the Manuka imprint in recent times as their incredible run of super-popular releases continues to rage on, this time welcoming some of the label's regular performers inside for a four-track compilation drop. We begin our dive with a look at the twisted percussive manoeuvres and aquatic atmospheric pressures of 'Guilty' from Biome, before we recognize Rakjay's catchy vocal additions over the fluttering arpeggios of 'Lowe It', produced by label founder: Hypho. From here we move into Ternion Sound's contribution in 'There Is A Cost', a sweeping breaksy display of power, before Xakra unleashes his synthetic wonders on 'Some Of Us' to see the EP out in style.

Review: Now we don't know what is in the water up in Manchester right now, but the team at Manuka seem to be able to do no wrong, yet again pulling together a sumptuous new selection, this time from fellow local and dubstep-heavyweight: Biome. He takes us down a much more bass-scentric route with this selection however, kicking off with tech infused percussion and glittering pad work of 'Kitemare' before the title track 'Kora' marches forward with more eerie atmospheric energy and some seriously weighty kick patterns below. Next, we greet the much more high pitched percussive pops and vocal delays of 'Let Me' as they dance above a smoothened sub design below, before rounding off on the much more raucous bass explosions and jittering drum patterns of 'Torah'. Super heavy and super deep with a blasting kick drum that sounds more like an oversized powderkeg being thrown off a building, its circulating loop only adds to the epic, free flowing spirale of this track and its spacious, left-to-right percussion. Review: We want to know what's in the water up there in Manchester, because the Manuka team seem to not be putting a foot wrong with their recent releases, including this corking new three tracker from Ternion Sound, who send the garage sound to the blender across some incredibly original creations. We begin with 'Exploration 52', a futuristic slice up of garage themes, stuffed with groovy melodic switch ups and an unpredictable selection of beatstops, keeping the ravers on their toes start to finish. Next up, 'Spiral' deploys a much more dungeon-like vibe as big, bulky kick drums clear the way for catchy synth jolts and high ended melody lines. Finally, the cherry that belongs atop the cake emerges with the raucous breakbeat designs of 'Find & Kill', an instant explosion of rave-ready dynamite, rounding this one off with a bang!

Review: As ever, Hypho has arrived with an incredible amount of style and flare with this one as he returns to his home label of Manuka for a spicy four track selection, pulling together the combined forces of four top production names for a sensational collaborative project. We begin our look at this one with Sumgii's insertions on 'Gold Metal', a low riding sizzler, driven by it's unusual drum allocations and slower tempo. Next, MR.K arrives for his additional inputs on 'Suss', another slower roller, glued together with metallic snare hits and dreamy synthesizer wafts, before 'Freeze' delivers a monstrously powerful arrangement, skippy as you like and featuring the handy work of Opus. Finally, 'Etiquette' sees Rygby make the final appearance with some very powerful sub pulses and an overall haunted tone, rounding off this excellent body of work in style.

Review: Manchester artist Hypho hooks up with fellow UK compatriot Boime for a double drop of heavy dubstepping vibes for Manuka. The record itself sounds like it comes from the deep, dark and cold confines of a disused powerplant, with the lead track fizzing with alien synths, atonal keys and kick drums replete with an uncanny assortment of distorted atmospheres to boot. Tribal atmospheres make their way into "Deform", a deadly alternative for the more serious and industrial ends of the night. Review: Now we have been keeping a keen eye on the Manchester scene for the last few months, primarily due to Hypho's super exciting Manuka project, fusing the dark and dingey corners of bass music with the ever-present dubstep scene. The label here introduces Tony Rocky Horror to the label, who touches down with three cracking originals, kicking off with the potent subby structures of 'Barstow', followed by the grizzly bass roars and shimmering ride cymbals of 'RedTop'. Finally, we skip into fantastic 'Titania', a metallic roller packed with unique sound design. The remixes are also on point as Sepia, OldGold and Biome all deliver some potent overhauls, rounding up another excellent selection from Manuka.

Review: After a very impressive debut release towards the end of 2018, we are very excited to see what the newly formed team at Manuka have to offer for the coming year. Here, they unleash the wrath of Ulmo, who runs riot across 'Odium' through a combination of gnarled atmospheric twists, grizzly bass tones and pulsating 4x4 drum lashings. This one however also comes complete with two top quality originals, courtesy of Benton and Rufus!. In typical Benton fashion, the first return comes wrapped up tight in breakbeat pressure, with a crunchy drum assembly stealing the show. To round up we dip into the Rufus! overhaul, which again offers a completely different set of flavours on a more glitchy steppers tip, a sound we expect to hear a lot more from the label in the future!
