Review: A global ambassador of Chicago's sound, Farris has spiritedly contributed to the evolving house and techno culture of this century. He began playing at a young age, developing a unique sound that lead him to performances at Chicago's legendary underground warehouse parties of the 90s and a residency at the Power House. A self-taught engineer and producer, his work with Cajual, Relief, Defected, Soma and his own breakout label Farris Wheel Recordings propelled his influence into ever expanding realms. Farris is back on Mihalis Safras' esteemed Material imprint with a bunch of main room bangers that'll rock dancefloors from Chi-town to The White Isle and beyond. "Like This" keeps in line with the labels M.O. with a rolling and headrush inducing slammer to lead into the peak time, after all: it's a contribution with boss man Safras. The EP features quite a few collabs actually; fellow Chicagoan Anthony Attalla teams up with Farris on "Pocket Party" with its suggestive lyrics and again pitch shifted vocals telling an all too familiar story in clubland while Toronto's Nathan Barato helps Farris deliver a right dancefloor detonator on "We Like The Deep" and that title track gets deeper, slinkier and downright sleazier for some early evening mood lighting.
