Secret Sabbah (Jd Twitch Optimo mix) - (6:15) 117 BPM

Versailles (Jp Soul & Anthony Mansfield remix) - (5:45) 114 BPM
Review: Alien Alien are Rodion and Hugo Sanchez and are two highly regarded producers out of Rome who push some noirish electro crossover here. "Secret Sabbah" is the kind of brooding electro dance that Moscoman and Bourisiade are pushing of late, filled with buzzy vintage arpeggios, po-faced vocals and rusty rhythms. "Versailles" is more deep and stripped back: perfect for the late night with its tunnelling arpeggiatos and dark hypnotic pads It gets some great remixes a great bunch but it's all about Optimo main man JD Twitch who takes the title track into epic acid territory.

The Travels Series (Episode 1.1)
02 - (8:22) 123 BPM Hot
02 (Swayzak remix) - (8:28) 123 BPM
04 - (7:08) 118 BPM
04 (Danton Eeprom remix) - (7:13) 123 BPM
Review: "O2", which kick-starts this collaboration between Brazilian Click Box and French producer Remain, sounds like an updated version of Lil Louis' "French Kiss". Over a snaking electronic groove that unmistakable hook kicks in and is joined later by sludgy, lost-it vocal samples. "04" is more understated, with the transcontinental pair delivering a buzzing bass and some deep vocal samples over a low-slung minimal rhythm. The remixes are of an even higher quality than the original material. Swayzak delivers a trance-out chord and bleeding acid take on "02", while Danton Eeprom gets to grips with "04", adding soaring strings and a hypnotic, rolling bass.

Whatever (Superstudio remix) - (6:50) 123 BPM
Review: Paris imprint Meant have treated us to some great releases recently by German trio Rework and label boss Remain's Lost It EP last year, on which he teamed up with Maxime. This time around it is the turn of Vosper, who appeared on the label previously in 2013 back, with a bit of help from Ponsolo. The Montreal based duo serve up the deep and minimal techno groove of "Cats & Dogs" which is so reminiscent of legends Run Stop Restore or anything on legendary imprint m_nus. Fun fact: Vosper's last release had a remix by Marc Houle! "I Wish" continues on in further reductionist fashion with more pitch shifted vocals boldly declaring "I wish you were a freak, just like me". Finally "Whatever" appears in its original version plus a wicked remix by Mexico's Superstudio which delves into a cosmic/exotic deep house journey track style that has seen him release on the likes of Correspondant.

Candy & Kong (Click Box Mental remix) - (11:34) 120 BPM
Too Forward (Bald remix) - (6:31) 118 BPM Hot
Review: Stuttgart based trio hand in another slice of uber electro-pop infected house for Meant after a slew of releases for the likes of Visionquest and Items & Things. Start things off with the slow Italo grooves of "Too Forward" and "Hardcore" they turn up the heat for the infectious electroclash thriller "Overdosed" and the tech house groove of "Candy & Kong". There's a couple of killer remixes too. "Candy & Kong" gets a trippy techno re-rub by m_nus affiliated minimalists Click Box while "Too Forward" gets the treatment by BALD, making it more of a driving dub.

Lost It
Lost It - (5:25) 120 BPM
Lost It (Kasper Bjorke rework) - (7:08) 120 BPM
Lost It (Jackethat & Lipelis remix) - (6:27) 122 BPM Hot
Cold Feet - (5:46) 116 BPM
Lost It (Remain Indie version) - (7:03) 120 BPM
Lost It (Johnson remix) - (7:00) 110 BPM
Review: This collaboration between Maxime Lost and French producer Remain has echoes in places of electro house. That's a compliment by the way. "Lost It" captures that exciting time before the big cheque books arrived and the term wasn't a negative one. It's robotic and bleep-heavy, its bass resonates in a melancholy manner and the end result is reminiscent of Tiefschwarz at their finest. "Cold Feet" sees the duo veer towards a darker sound as the bass wobbles malevolently. The remixes are also redolent of the early 00s - the Jackethat & Lipelis version of the title track revolves around a punk-funk style bass and Remain's "Indie Version" has echoes of Roman Flugel's "Geht's Noch" monster.

Isolation (Marc Houle remix) - (5:45) 123 BPM
Oni - (6:29) 123 BPM
Kabuki Playboy (Monoblok & PSLKTR remix) - (6:28) 118 BPM
Review: Inspired by Dan Bell both in title and in style, "Losing Control" kick starts this release with a pitch bent vocal and a tripped out acid line. Unlike Bell's classic however, Vosper's track features a separate vocal sample intoning 'techno, techno' over a heavy drum track. "Kabuki Playboy" is in a similar vein to the title track, as a stripped back groove unfolds to the sound of resonating vocal samples and warbling acid lines. "Isolation" marks a change of direction, with dubbed out drums and spacey keys riding a splurging bass. It's only a temporary change however, and both "Oni" and Marc Houle's take on "Isolation" revert to pared back rhythms and sharp metallic drums.
