Review: Swaggering onto the radar with a flow that reaches far beyond his years, 16-year-old Haleek Maul looks set for big things on the strength of what he's achieving right now. Gathering together a handful of producers including Supreme Cuts, The-Drum and King Britt, the diminutive rapper has been guided into a deeply atmospheric take on hip-hop. "88" for example has an underlying 80s soundtrack bent to it, which makes Maul's sinister lyrics all the more unsettling, while King Britt teases a contemplative mood out of mournful pads and gently tumbling percussion. It's a very strong start for a talent that is yet to even fully mature.
