Review: Operating out of Kiev since 2012 Muscut sees itself as a label dedicated to unearthing a rare and often unrecognised form of sonic archaeology that in its existence has released music from the likes of Pavel Milyakov, Andrew Pekler and Yuri Lugovsko. Label founder Nikolaienko is responsible for two solo outings on Muscut that champions a sound indebted to clicks, cuts and the loop finding jazz of labels like Fatische and Klang Elektronik to associated artists Farben, James Din or even Pole. All four numbers here fizzle with the sweet noise floor of analogue machinery and dusty samples that awkwardly shift in pitch and warp in tone, feathering away at jazz, house and hip hop like a sonic paleontologist ready to reveal new artifacts to the world.
