Review: All party systems go as Music Monday arrives on the scene with a tasty box of treats from Billy Daniel Butler and Sanxion, who present their combined efforts across this fantastic 'Bleeps, Bass & Acid Music' project. From the jump we are treated to a tonne of digital nostalgia, from the blippy synthesiser runs and looped bass textures of '90 Bleeps & Bass' to the euphoric chord sets of 'Acid Rocker' and classic vocal sampling of 'Broader Than Broadway'. It's a top quality collection to say the least, with our clear standouts including the carnival infused breaksy drum work of 'Don't Call It That', next to the more old school drum shuffles and super acidic synthesiser pelts of '118' and fidget-infused drum arrangements of 'Heat'. Lovely work from both parties on this one!
Review: A legend of the UK hard dance, techno and trance scene for some 20 years now, Billy 'Daniel' Bunter has been offloading a mammoth amount of wares since Covid struck, reminding us how influential hard dance genres are on rave music culture. Hooking up with another equally authoritative figure within the scene in Jon Doe, the pair send in 16 undeniable hard trance bangers sewn together by an overworked Roland 909 drum machine. For that perfect combination of trance meets techno, this collaborative Classics LP brings together a sound all EDM loyalists will recognise and respect.
Review: Any jungle is festival jungle when dropped at the right time, but if you're looking for out-and-out skanky bumpers that guarantee arena meltdowns look no further as Vinyl Junkie and Rachael EC have selected 48 (yes 48) cuts that promise to raise all kinds of bodily temperatures, noises and movements. Serum's wobble-funk "Rat Trap VIP", Rob Blaze's system-slaying "Sound Boy", DJ Hybrid's Headz-style drone bass snake-wrestler, the iconic rave vocal emotion on Vinyl Junkie & Sanxion's "Ninja Bizznizz", Billy Bunter's chaotic dancehall skanker "Killa Sound".... We could list the highlights for days on end. An epic collection.
