Tramplin
Rain - (4:00) 80 BPM
Review: The St Petersburg-based duo of Slava Zavyalov and Roman Tolmachev, better known to disco buyers as Kim/Buran, bring us what is their 10th long-player and, to these ears, their finest work to date. Coming (like 2016's 'Orbita') on the mighty Nang Records, 'Tramplin' opens with the dreamy and aptly-titled 'Walk On The Stratosphere!' and ends with the similarly drifty 'Your Summer Dress'; in-between you'll find 12 more synth-y nu-disco gems that draw heavily on Italo, space disco and Balearic tropes, all blended together to create a 67-minute listening experience that's as well suited to horizontal herbalism as it is to dancefloor fun and frolics.

Voda
Konjski Rep - (3:08) 125 BPM
Mornarska Kapa - (5:12) 125 BPM
Review: Ichisan is the alias of one Igor Skafar: an accomplished producer and DJ from Ljubljana, Slovenia who has appeared on labels such as Bordello A Parigi, Kanto and Violette Szabo Records. He's back on Nang for the first time since 2019 with his new full length titled Voda. From the hazy balearic chill of gorgeous offerings like "Gozd Reka" or "Cabernet Pa Na Taxi" which you could imagine enjoying at sunset on the Baleric Islands with a pina colada in hand, to bright like neon nu-disco grooves optimized for the late night dancefloor, best exemplified on "Gospa Jesen" or "Mornarska Kapa" - the latter getting properly low slung.

Nang Presents The Array Vol 11
Various
Outtake - "Black Discotheque" - (6:52) 125 BPM
Disco Doubles - "Don't Hurt Me" - (6:46) 125 BPM
Farrington & Mann - "The Promise" (Soda Pimps remix) - (5:22) 125 BPM
Review: Nang's annual round-up of key cuts they've released over the previous 12 months, The Array, has long been a must-check for those who like their nu-disco colourful, synthesizer-heavy and soaked in Mediterranean sunshine. Here the long-serving label offers up volume 11, a predictably entertaining affair that skips between the revivalist '80s synth-pop shimmer of Kim & Buran's remix of Wang Chung's 'Dance Hall Days'; the jaunty nu-disco colour of Tonbe's squelchy 'Good Taste'; the more cosmic, Italo-influenced shuffle of Outtake's 'Black Discotheque'; the throbbing, acid-flecked trip that is Aimes' revision of the Beat Broker's pedal steel-flecked 'Hold Your Horses'; the shimmering cheeriness of Disco Doubles' 'Don't Hurt Me'; and the low-down disco-funk hustle of Future Feelings' 'Downtown Girl', as remixed by Situation.

Polykarp
Kino-Sloga - (6:14) 126 BPM
Review: Ichisan's 2017 debut album on Bordello A Parigi was arguably a little overlooked, which is something of a surprise considering the quality of the assembled Balearic, synth-wave, nu-disco and Italo-disco tracks on show. Hopefully the same fate won't befall his sophomore set, "Polykarp", because it's every bit as alluring and ear pleasing. It offers up a similarly colourful and vibrant collection of synth-heavy tracks, with highlights including the acid-flecked Italo/nu-disco fusion of "Polykarp", the Lindstrom style space disco positivity of "Kino-Sloga", the Todd Terje-esque Scandolearic dancefloor warmth of "Gonzo-Bossa Nova" and the Italian dream house revivalism of "Halo House".

Softmachine
Dreamachine - (2:57) 125 BPM
Review: Sare Havlicek has long been one of Nang's most reliable artists, delivering a steady stream of well-crafted albums and singles. Predictably, the Slovenian is in fine form on this fourth full-length - his first for two years - gleefully sprinting between joyful, Chic-inspired disco ("Everybody Freak Out", "Like You Wanna Do", "Here Comes That Sound"), woozy, synth-heavy Balearica ("Softmachine"), undulating Italo-disco inspired electrofunk ("Riot"), colourful P-funk ("Science of the Beat"), sumptuous Balearic disco bliss ("Music and Lies") and "Stranger Things"-inspired synthesizer soundscapes ("Perpetual Rise" and opener "Dreamachine"). In other words, it's another spot-on collection from the Slovenian.

Hotspace
Hot Space - (4:01) 125 BPM Hot
My Evil Friends - (4:05) 89 BPM
Review: Legendary Sheffield techno-pop duo Hiem are back! First breaking out in the mid noughties with anthems such as "She's The One" and "Zombie Party" which received equally prolific remixes by Mathew Jonson and Konrad Black respectively. Nick "Nico" Eastwood and the inimitable David "Bozz" Boswell never really stopped going: and now London based Nang present their new Hotspace LP, which follows up some great collaborations on the label with Phil Oakey (Human League) and Roots Manuva, not to mention the 2014 full length entitled Freaky Nights. Much like their previous effort, the duo continue pursuing their love of pop-inflected nu-disco sounds: and the dynamic opener "High Life" is strong evidence of this from the get go. There is some gorgeous slo-mo Italo like on "Oxygene", some lo-slung soul/funk swagger on "My Evil Friends" and even a bit of comedic value in the form of the hilarious satire "Monkey Office".

Takin' It Straight
Mirror Of Your Own World - (4:23) 125 BPM
Review: Italo vibes don't come more authentic than this 29 year old beauty.... Experiencing Cori's original back in 83 must have been like taking a future tablet and landing in the 21st century. Seriously forward thinking, heedlessly groovy and unashamedly funky, it still stands tall by today's standards. There have been various unofficial edits and dubs over the years but it seems Nang's been giving the green light for this full release, complete with a sprawling dub that highlights and accentuates all the best elements of Cori's original. For good measure the slightly less-timeless original b-side "Mirror Of Your Own World" has been thrown in too. How delightful!

Deliverance
Deliverance (original) - (6:37) 125 BPM
Review: Nang Records continue to document the history of French synth discoid duo Space, here focusing on "Deliverance", the title track from their second album from 1978. The dramatic overtones of the original will amuse and astound in equal measures when you realise that's not a male choir on backing but two sessions singers multi-tracked to oblivion by producer JP Illescuo! "Deliverance" has been sampled and covered but never remixed, and Nang make up for that with four reworks. Kompakt deity Justus Kohncke is on hand to provide two contrasting remixes - the "Wild Pitch" effort has bubbling synths and a hard house groove that latches onto the smooth vocals of Madeline Bell and doesn't let go. Kohncke's other 'Take Me Places' mix is proper mutant disco, frenetic synth stabs and rolling bass lines included. The new school of Italian disco take care of the other remixes, with A Love Supreme (Tirk) indulging his inner Patrick Cowley on the "Hard Disko" remix and helping Fabrizio Mammarella in crafting an expert acid crazed remix under the Heels Of Love moniker.
