Review: We have been loving the output of Navy Cut after the last few months, seeing that they are clearly a label who have a particular sound and style, making every release a "one to watch". We see them here team up with the ever-ready Mr. K for a couple of lowend-heavy heaters, kicking off with the stunning sub structures and dubwise drum arrangements of the A-side 'Ol Dirty'. On the flip side, we see somewhat of a switch up as piano chords, flutes and a whole manner of additional instrumentation is introduced to the proceedings, adding a real contrast the A-side as we round this one up.

Review: Navy Cut have been on a tear over the last 18 months, never disappointing their dizzying array of dubstep releases, always pushing the boundaries of sonic design. This next drop from Leo Cap again sees them push the boat out, with 'Stunning' being exactly what it says on the tin, combining super-syncopated rhythms with metallic percussive intrusions and pulsating bass beeps for a wicked introduction. From here, the wonkiness intensifies as 'Black Magic' deploys a barrage of lofi drum sounds and system-rumbling subs to really up the pace of the project as a whole. Finally, the sweeping synthetic genius of 'Goliath' gives us a fuzzy, heads down roller to close off the project with, again showcasing the versatility of Leo Cap's production arsenal and giving us another slap to close out with. Exceptional stuff!

Lost & Found - (5:34) 60 BPM
Review: It's time to look into the future of dub here as we see a very exciting team up occur between Leo James and J Appiah, who both touch down on Navy cut for a fantastic two track single. The lead track is everything we would want from a future dub original, as slow paced chord progressions and unpredictable percussive stabs lay the foundation for some soulful vocal work, packed with dubbed out FX and themes. We are also gifted 'Lost & Found', a super creative underground bass composition, laced with wicked vocal work and bouncy drum designs. Very tasty indeed!

Gods Gold - (4:55) 140 BPM
Review: Although they may not be a label with the highest quantity of output, the thing we absolutely adore about the Navy Cut team is the consistency of quality we find within their releases. Take this new three tracker from Mae5 for instance, the blend of nostalgic dubstep flavours and newschool production techniques is nothing short of sublime, with the title track 'Tallawah/Stand Up Strong' being a perfect example of that. From here, the dungeon ready drum drops of 'Flippy Neck' give us a pulsating second hit of dubstep energy, before the EP then rounds off with 'Gods Gold', a monsterous homage to dub music, driven by an engulfing sub-line and cooling melodica swipes.

Review: The Dubdiggerz are back with another goliath three tracker, this time in collaboration with the very impressive selections of Navy Cut. We begin our dubwise journey with the title track 'Monstera' which is fashioned from hypnotik lead synths and aquatic percussive crunches. Next up 'An Mande' comes into play with his swampish drum design and fantastic vocal processing before hitting vibrant breakdown. Finally we finish up with the unpredictable minimal chops of 'ELY' which draws energy from unusual clicky instrumentation and shuffling drum work above lethal bass stabs. This one is another fantastic addition to the Navy Cut catalogue.

Review: Navy Cut are back with another heated release here as they invite in the sounds of Ramsez for three original creations, each more potent than the last. We begin with the demonic bass drags and super crispy drum production of the title track 'Big Boi', packed with explosive flavour from top to bottom. Next, the warbling, swampish tones of 'Swinger Club' arrive on the scene, packing a real wobbly punch, before we finish up the EP with a look at the shuffling hi hats and grizzly bass patterns of 'Talk Crime'. This one was a pleasure to listen through for sure.

Review: 2020 is looking to be a very exciting year for the dubstep scene, as we will continue to see labels such as Navy Cut continue to rise to prominence, if last year is anything to go by anyway! This time around they invite in the unique production techniques of Distinct Motive for a wicked two track piece, kicking off with the haunted atmospheric layerings and unique bass structures of the title track 'Hamburg'. On the flip side. 'Haste' provides us with some high energy marching drum structures, alongside sweeping subs and subwise delay effects to add some serious contrast to the A-side. Tasty!

Review: Finally! Jack Sparrow and Dom Ruckspin's second Author album gets the digital justice it's deserved for nigh on five years. Previously released on the now defunct Black Box, Sparrow has reissued it on his own Navy Cut imprint and it still sounds as arresting, entrancing and immersive as it did when first released in 2013. From the opening piano shimmers of "After Time" right through to Rider Shafique's final tones of wisdom on "Keep Moving", the whole album lives in its own lane with its own pace and restrained sense of time. Whether you were on this back in the hurly burly dubstep hype of 2013 or this is fresh future feels for your soul, few dubstep albums hit the spot musically, texturally or as thoughtfully as this album. Essential.

Review: The North American duo of Distinct Motive are at it again, this time teaming up with Navy Cut for a weighty two track release. We start off with ?King? which is a stepper?s delight. Pounding electronic subs roll ahead in the bass section whilst marching drums and super swung gritty synths run riot above. On the flip side we hear ?Worthy? which is straight out of the same bag of swing, however this composition is driven by its revving bass synth sounds and stuttered vocal appearances.

Review: Whenever we see the Navy Cut logo on a project these days we are are immediately thrilled with the prospect of what's in store, which given their recent release history is pretty valid standpoint. This exciting run continues here as we dive into two scorchers from Surreal, who firstly ushers forth colosul bass tones and crunchy, metallic sound design on 'Somnipath', a proper wonky warbler. This is then chased up by the stunning subby shimmers of 'Don't Fall Asleep', which embraces an aquatic tonality from start to finish, perfect for swamping out any dance.

Yumura - (4:17) 140 BPM Hot
Kakatua - (4:27) 135 BPM
Review: The thing we have always loved about new Navy Cut drops, is that despite their dubstep-centric positioning, you never quite know what direction they are going to go in. This latest three track wampfest from D-Operation is a perfect example of that, as we open up with the swampy atmospheric swills and grizzly synthetic bass textures of 'Drainage', giving us a mucky introduction to enjoy. From here, the more high-ended bass notation and stripped back arrangements of 'Yumura' deliver a slithery sense of subby goodness, before the twisted distortion and gnarly drum crunches of 'Kakatua' really let loose one final barrage of sub-action to round off the project with a slap.

Venom - (3:43) 140 BPM
TRU - (4:38) 140 BPM Hot
Addict - (4:29) 140 BPM
Review: There has been a very consistent feel about the last few Navy Cut drops, always seeming to hold a uniquely crunchy feel within their release catalogue. This latest drop from HIJINX again plays into that, kicking off with the grizzly kick stabs and low-ended whollups of 'Venom', combining subtly with punch in the best way possible. Next, 'TRU' flips together a devilish collection of bass melodies with a minimal yet lively drum structure for a serious skanker of an original. We then move into a sizzling finale on 'Addict', into which HIJINX pours a tonne of dubwise energy, dungeon-ready themes and system-busting sub structures. This is a killer finale to round of a solid body of work!

My Religion - (5:17) 140 BPM
Good Love - (5:39) 140 BPM Hot
Review: It's always exciting to see Jack Sparrow unleash a new project, especially with the Navy Cut team on the label as he dives into a sumptuous combination of fluttering melodic energy and dizzying breaksy experimentation. We begin with 'Generation Sound', a stunning slink through silky saxophone drifts and smokey atmospheric harmonies, followed up closely by 'My Religion', a blast of powerful post-breaksy rhythms and bassy goodness. It's a hell of a way to kick start a project, with the third track diving back down a more mellow avenue to cool the process down. This one takes the title 'Good Love' and ties together beautiful jazzy harmonies with shuffling drum textures for a juicy final punch.
