Soundwave (feat Dread MC) - (4:03) 128 BPM Hot
Taiki Nulight & Shift K3Y - "Lil Mama" - (3:38) 125 BPM
Turn It Up - (4:36) 126 BPM
Review: For Brighton producer Taiki Nulight, he couldn't be more excited to release on Los Angeles-based Night Bass. This is a culmination of years of DJing and collaborating. His last LP Murky Manor was the soundscape of his life to date, claiming it was so important for him as an artist to do a full album - one that showcased the full depth and breadth of his sound. The themes continue on the Soundwave EP. The moody bounce of the title track and its druggy vocals, the intoxicating late night shuffle of "Lil Mama" and crossing over into minimal tech house on the tunneling "Turn It Up" - this one is fierce!

Review: Long term Night Bass flag flyer Taiki Nulight returns to the ever-impressive imprint with his long awaited Broken Ribs' EP, which is stuffed to the brim with bass heavy goodies. We begin with the title track which is a dancefloor weapon, from the high intensity build ups of the intro to the incredibly unique synth design of the breakdown. Next we move into the more stripped back 4/4 arrangements of 'U Know' before landing on the highly anticipated sub heavy collaboration with Inkline entitled 'Cynic'. Finally the EP rounds up with it's second collaboration, this time with Stranger, as the pair pull together a selection of weird and wonderful synth sounds and skippy drum patterns resulting in a high energy banger.

Review: The Night Bass crew just keep on throwing out KO punches. Hot on the heels of the label boss AC Slater's debut album Outsiders and the killer V/A "Summer Phases" EP comes this rampant four-tracker from UK machine twister Taiki Nulight. It's some of his deadliest material, too; "Dead End" is drunken wobbler where the bass leads you down some very dark pathways, "Horn Porn" (a collabo with the ubiquitous Lorenzo) is a high frequency flexing soul-shaker with a series of system-slapping drums while "Everybody In The Club" (with Mikey B) adds a little off-beat ruffage with a seriously aggy hornets-nest bassline. "Trippin' Up" closes the show with one of Taiki's heaviest designs to date. Broken, groaning, gnarly and metallic, Taiki's taking no prisoners today mate.

Head Knockin EP
AC Slater - "Head Knockin" - (4:18) 128 BPM
Taiki Nulight - "Super Doopah Legend" - (5:02) 128 BPM Hot
Played by: Mr Brainz
Review: American bass music is always produced big and tough. Hailing from LA, AC Slater's Night Bass label excels at this particular breed of shizzle. Here Slater shares a release with Taiki Nulight who presents "Super Doopah Legend" - a sizzling anthem with ascending/descending bass riffs, comedy vocal samples, build-ups and a general ghetto bounce. Slater himself also provides "Head Knockin", a strong 4 x 4 vehicle, featuring weird low squelches and dubbed-out lasers. Another quality joint from Night Bass then.

My Peoples
My Peoples - (5:07) 126 BPM
Psycho - (4:35) 126 BPM Hot
Review: In the 90s AC Slater was the totally ripped jock in Saved By the Bell, but now however, it's the name of an LA bass maniac. Arriving on his own mighty Night Bass Label, My Peoples is a two track EP that continues to bring the sub-heavy heat to the USA. The title track is a storming 4 x 4 thumper with hip-hop samples and a stop-start dynamic that'll stop you resting on your laurels. Next up "Psycho" is a throwback to the deep and jazzy garage/house of the 90s - imagine vintage Van Helden with a firecracker in his tracksuit!

Piano Cannon
Piano Cannon - (4:48) 122 BPM Hot
Lazer - (4:42) 124 BPM
Played by: Mr Brainz
Review: With a title like "Piano Cannon" you'd be forgiven in thinking Taiki and Low Steppa have cooked up a house cut of such funky proportions you'd think it was gilded by Morillo's mum herself. But no; the pianos barely get a look-in as the two hot-to-trot producers lay down a shuffling, mildly broken house shuffled coded with computer bleepery where the full emphasis on dark missions rather than any OTT evangelism. "Lazer" maintains the chugging spirit as we're peppered with tripped FX over another heads-down UKG style beat and some slippery low-end dynamics.

Warfare
Warfare - (4:26) 128 BPM Hot
Dominos - (4:47) 63 BPM
Review: Taiki Nulight's recent antic on Night Bass are steadily earning our attention and praise, not least because of their sheer carelessness for all the latest trends and sub-genre-fascination. The producer, who comes out of an excellent recent appearance alongside Low Steppa, goes dirty and loud with a no-nonsense, jungle-ridden bass monster built strictly for the dance floor. "Dominos", on the other hand, is a UK house bastard boasting a steady bit of beats, but an utterly deranged pile of sonics. It's one for the heads.

Nose Powder - (4:58) 123 BPM Hot
Nu Jam - (5:17) 124 BPM
Review: Two premiere league UK bass enthusiasts Low Steppa and Taiki Nulight get their jack on for AC Slater?s Night Bass: ?Nose Powder? punches with a simple-but-deadly one note bassline technique. Warping, morphing and twisting all the way until we hit the classic garage chords on the breakdown; this guarantees hype on the floor. ?Nu Jam? rolls with slightly deeper feels as brushed hi-hats slink and slide over a slightly subtler bassline while an ominous sub hums with venom beneath. Killer.
