Green Bandana
Green Bandana - (3:47) 135 BPM
Review: Rolling in the manor with the ratta ta taahh... Sheffield's Teedee makes his debut on Nu Wave with this one-track gun-finger salute. Rolling deep with Prezz Montana and Don Dappa, there's a sharp, hooky grime feel as Teedee rolls between spacious beats and a chugging 4x4 while keeping the lava-like low end oscillations flowing. Smoking.

Shake - (4:29) 134 BPM
Review: Ever since they started out, NuWave have been adding talent to their roster without a care in the world. From bass to house and dubstep, there is nothing they can't do when it comes to UK dance music. Daze Prism is a newcomer of the ol' garage block, laying down the truth with the help of four outright stepper: "Loaded" is a stripped-back garage joint, "Bad Man" adds in a little dubstep wobble to the mix, "Jammin" is full of mutant bass in its lower-end, while "Shake" introduces some comparatively more traditional garage percussion to what sounds like a fast-paced dubstep banger.

Got The Power
Got The Power - (4:44) 123 BPM
Review: Nu Wave might only be a few years old, but the label are churning out new artists and new releases like they just don't give a damn. Joshrox is their new mascot here, and the newcomer has come through geared-up and utterly ready for dance floor domination with "Got The Power", a nu-school garage burner complete with swinging drum sets, a winning vocal sample, and even a load of awesome piano keys for good measure. A total winner.

Awaken - (5:06) 128 BPM
Big Jimmy - (3:56) 128 BPM
Mooody - (4:49) 127 BPM
Review: Sirmo is a garage producer from Pecs, Hungary, but you'd think he was proper South London judging by these convincing street level sounds. "Gotta Do With It" nails that perfect sound that even Matt "Jam" Lamont would appreciate. The Steve Brooke remix is more intricate and incorporates some head rush style atmosphere and some catchy house key stabs. "My Dress" is a lot tougher and a bit darker; another great bassline and tight rhythm here but it's the "Dappa VIP" which really nails it; quite a shuffle on this one and reminds us of classics by R.I.P. Or Tuff Jam.

Twisted EP
Twist It - (5:18) 128 BPM
Did You Hear That? - (5:26) 125 BPM
Twisted (Marc Spence remix) - (4:56) 124 BPM Hot
Played by: Jamie George
Review: Birmingham-based Ana Cole delivers a genre-bending release. "Twist It" comes across like 2-step on steroids, with a brooding bass building and recoiling over metallic snares as a moody vocal insinuates itself into the arrangement. "Did You Hear That" is more reduced, with a focus on the stepping rhythm and merciless bass. Rounding out the release is tech-house producer Mark Spence's take on "Twisted". Despite's Cole's contributions, this is the most unusual track on the release; robust house drums are fused with Cole's merciless bass tones and a pitch-bent vocal sample to create a hybrid that inhabits its own, unique space.

Review: Bouncier than a pair of brand new white Reeboks, Domzi is back making everyone feeling old by getting nostalgic about the early Noughties on Bound For The Reload. The last time we heard the phrase it was Oxide & Neutrino sayin' it, now it's a new generation getting hyped on this garage-flecked electro-house anthem. Also Terror Tone delivers a killer 4 x 4 jam for all those party heads wanting a bit more of a gritty vibe.

Running Away (remix) - (4:54) 127 BPM
Review: A regular of compilations since the release of his artist album last year, Steve Brooke is back with a new jam, Running Away, on Nu Wave records. A collaboration with DJ Direct, the tune is a solid mid-paced garage house affair with a stern bassline and diva vocals. Also included is a remix that strips everything back to basics for a cool slice of afterhours monster.

My Dress
My Dress (original mix) - (4:29) 129 BPM Hot
My Dress (Dappa VIP mix) - (4:38) 131 BPM
My Dress (Steve Brooke remix) - (4:25) 130 BPM
Review: If you ever wanted to know what a collision between a garage juggernaut and a wobble techno would sound like, well, "My Dress" is it. Sirmo weaves a quirky snippet of film dialogue around lively hi-hats and juddering bottom end for an explosive floor-filler. The Dappa VIP version dubs things out slightly and adds an extra little spring in its step. However the monster track here is Steve Brooke's remix which adds another nastier bassline and more of a garage swing for maximum dancefloor damage.

Review: There's no denying DJ Direct doesn't fool around, as you'll soon find out on this single - 'I'll shoot ya bruv' one sampled lyric seems to say. The original version is a super bouncy club track with a kick, clap and stack combo to boot, while Wolfe's remix reworks bass to the front of the mix while remixing the track's arrangement for something different. Dangerous UKG - don't front.

Review: Just over a year into their game and Nu Wave have already amassed a ridiculous bassline repertoire. Just in case you need refreshing, here are 33 examples. Cherry picking the best examples of low end creativity from their recent releases, along with a few exclusives for good measure, the result is yet another extensive Nu Wave document that leaves you under no illusion as to how tight their game is. Highlights? Kick off with a light steppy vocal starter such as DJ Direct's "Home", feast on a gnarly, wobbly main course such as Negativ's "Damage" then top it off with a super sweet subby, piano tickling dessert like Monrose & Dorrington's "Feel Free". Chow down... This will keep you and your family fed until Christmas.

Mooody - (4:46) 128 BPM
Big Jimmy - (3:56) 128 BPM Hot
Review: Hungarian heaviness UKG-style, "Mooody" sees Sirmo conjuring up six different types of bassline and laying them down over a delightfully shufflesome drum arrangement. Twisting and turning with turbulence, it's design to keep your floor on their toes from start to finish. Flip for "Big Jimmy". A more linear affair (read: he's got about three bass sounds instead of six) it rolls and gurgles over a slightly techier beat... The results speak for themselves.

Review: Steve Brooke and Damien S are Duo, a Sheffield-meets-Bradford double act. Here they've teamed up with Leeds pal Domzi Boy to concoct a party anthem and "We Get Down" is the undeniably effective result - all hissy 4x4 hats, heavy wobble bass and braggy vocals. The sound of a good Friday night.

Wrong Turn (original mix) - (5:14) 123 BPM
Your Touch (Ali Emm remix) - (5:40) 125 BPM
Review: Deep house casual Chris Darnoc pops out on Nu Wave after an impressive run of form on other imprints such as Crossback and Tiefblau, all quality controlled households for the deepest of deep house gems. "Your Touch" is a spear-headed percussion Bomb which will slice through any dancefloor, and it's backed with a bumping, bass-heavy Chicago-leaning remix by Ali Emm, while "Wrong Turn" nods to an electro tip thanks to its grizzly low-end. Top tools.

No easy feat but just take their latest release for example: RedgreenBlue is a producer located deep in the heart of America who is beating many UK producers at their own game. The Colours EP features three immaculately produced sizzlers - the pounding big room house of the title track, the growling, 8-bit wobble garage of "Bad Ideas" and the rave pad drenched techy-roller "Shape Shifter".

"Circles" grunts with that type of flabby minor-tuned bass that can sour cream in seconds, "HME" sharpens up the two-step chisel with jaw-dropping results while "The Gift" utilises a really creepy vocal sample with twisted effects. Review: Steel City bass man, Kris Jay (Chris Matthewman), presents his eagerly awaited album: It's Kris Jay. Although there's only six tracks, he's clearly opted for quality over quantity and he hasn't included any previously release singles either. Highlights include the tough and sinewy speed garage of "No Sense", the diva-fuelled UKF of "Remedy" and the blissed out Robin S-style dream house of "Oh Yeah", a collaboration with Yakeshi.

DubbedOut - (4:33) 129 BPM
Review: Rising UK bass star Hypho (aka Louis Richardson) tends to deliver his musical missives in short, sharp bursts; i.e. one-track singles. Seeing as he's playing all over the UK and being celebrated by the likes of Rinse FM's Marcus Nasty, it's a tactic that works. "Dubbed Out" is his latest mean collision of heavy dub and bassy, rolling UK funky - and another dancefloor bites the dust!

Review: Polish duo Negativ make their Nu Wave debut with two show-stopping dark garage originals. "Damage" lives up to its name thanks to its Leng-ish bass wobbles, thundering, stripped back groove and progression into breezy breakbeats. "Float" comes with more of a classical 4/4 UKG edge thanks to its gritty bass riff. Dropping into moody spacious two-step midway, it's an intriguing dynamic that keeps you locked throughout. Remix-wise Dosage playfully twists the 4/4 element of "Float" while Pelikann gets his chisel out and sharpens up the drums for a two-step tease on "Damage". Get destructive today.

Light It Up
Light It Up - (5:08) 126 BPM
Review: Sheffield's Kris Jay aka Chris Matthewman comes through with his second single for Nu Wave after his ridiculously funked-out debut earlier in November. "Light It Up" is a peak-time house monster backed with both some stunning piano work and one sweltering bassline. Let's not forget those choppy garage drums too, they'll sit nicely in pretty much any mood, any set, any floor.

Take It Or Leave It (feat DUO UK) - (5:08) 126 BPM
Review: Sheffield youngster Kris Jay - AKA producer Chris Matthewman - is doing his best to uphold the best traditions of Steel City bass on this debut EP for Nu Wave. Powerful subs and bone-rattling basslines form the backbone of his sound, which takes in a myriad of "bass music" forms. Opener "Faded" delivers a fusion of two-step garage, UK bass and the wooziness of deep house, before "Give It All" swings by on a trip back in time, presumably to a speed garage rave circa 1997. "Whoa" sounds like something Sheffield legend Winston Hazel could have made - ludicrously heavy sub, hustlin' 4/4 garage beats and pitched-down ragga vocals - while "Take It Or Leave It" pits a fragile, world-weary female vocal against a chunky, bass-driven garage groove.

Review: It seems as if producers are definitely getting younger these days. This EP, for example, is the work of UK-based producer Callum Watson, who makes his recording debut at the tender age of 20. P H 45 is an assured and floor-friendly debut, with the talented youngster joining the dots between UK funky, deep house, tech-house and garage. There's an atmospheric feel about the title track's pitched-down vocal samples, throbbing bass and foreboding melodies, while "Rogue State" sits somewhere between spiralling, Dirtybird-ish EDM and poignant deep house. Best of all, though, is "Rose Cottage", which hits home hard thanks to booming bass, skippy 4/4 garage beats and creepy electronics.

Review: Deckstar and Steve Brooks proudly present their second Nu Wave compilation, which continues to showcase the very best in UK garage and all things bass-related. Steve Brooks actually features throughout, but this series is reserved for some of the lesser known names on the label and a few upcoming talents to boot. There's many cherry-picks here, but our personal bests have to be Morrt's gorgeous "Want U" - a driving house stomper - and Zak Moore's "Come On" for its incessant electro bassline and general rave goodness! Many remixes and other killers to choose from, though - dig in!

Why I Love You
Why I Love You - (6:05) 124 BPM
Review: Leanne Brown and Rare Candy make their debut on the UK's Nu Wave with a gorgeous one-tracker in the name of "Why I Love You"! Like much of the label's output, this is proper UK music with an edge, and while we've seen more bass-heavy releases in the past, this one is just a sublime garage number for the peak time. The duo's gorgeous vocals are simply perfect amid the drum shuffles and hi-hat dicing. Another top quality release from the label!

Want U
Want U - (5:46) 123 BPM
Review: Impressively, 20 year-old Josh "Morrt" Mortimer had only been producing for a few short months when Radio 1 picked up on one of his tracks. He made his debut proper earlier this year with "Be There", a strobelight-friendly chunk of US garage-influenced UK house on Bambussa Records. Here he follows it up with "Want U", a similarly late night-friendly chunk of UK house/US garage fusion. Cut-up female vocal samples and nagging organ loops ride a groove that's simultaneously bouncy and robust (thanks, in no small part, to a superb bassline). It rises and falls in all the right places, with a couple of well-placed builds and drops adding energy to proceedings. It's not offering anything new, but nevertheless sounds like an anthem in the making.

Review: Duo UK return to Nu Wave after a sweet debut release last month! Once again, this is classic club house with a wide-eyed approach. Billy Kenny joins them on the first two bombs, both of which are simply tailor-made for floor destruction. Swinging drums, perfectly blended basslines and DJ-friendly arrangements from start to finish! Jasmine Knight joins in on the festivities, and both tracks add yet more funk to this devilish little release. Chantelle Rowe features on the final track, and you know it's a straight-up anthem from the word "go"! A batch of sublime house concoctions that should be enjoyed by anyone.

Review: This collaborative four-track EP by Deezy & Embee exhibits a broad range of bass-driven dancefloor styles, kicked off with the grungy, but house-tinged "Always", which is certainly the highlight. "Holding Me" is almost like a rehash of Crookers production done well circa 2014, while "Pawnee" looks to progressive house for its inspiration. "Running Late" is what concludes the EP and although it has some trancy and house elements, it oozes deep garage subtleties.

Review: Although Steve Brooke and Deckstar's Nu Wave label has generally stuck to moody garage and deep house, they've branched a bit further for their latest release. At least on Zak Moore's "Come On" anyway, which, despite the skippy beats, is pure electro-house at heart. Wayne H and Official Nancie represent the label's more traditional side on "One Last Time" which marries deep and breathy moods to an accelerated speed garage motor for maximum energy.

Review: Having previously appeared on Nu Wave's first compilation, Tom Bull and Official Nancie's "I'll Be Waiting" receives its own release as a one-track single. Deckstar and Steve Brooke's label has given us many gems in the short time it's been active, but this is certainly one of the best tunes so far. A silky deep house groove is caught in a midst of gorgeous low-end, and of course, Offical Nancie's seductive vocals. A hazy, burner to bring the summer vibes!

Review: For a label that only launched this spring, Nu Wave has taken no prisoners whatsoever. Repping the funkier side of garage and the darker side of deep house, Deckstar and Steve Brooke have established a distinctive sonic signature in a very short space of time. Here we find them tethering their past work with a number of exclusives to form this highly accomplished debut compilation. Ranging from the dark bubble/jazz-chord balance of Deckstar's "Wondering" to Lee Martin's organ-slapping "Wanna Be" via Duo and Chantelle Rowe's blistering vocal stunner "Enough Of Your Love", Nu Wave paint an on-point picture with clarity and originality. Get to know.

Review: Deckstar and Steve Brooke's Nu Wave label has been on a roll as of late, releasing some of the best new artists around when it comes to funked-out house music. This time, label newbies Ryan & James are accompanied by Chris Pottinger on a full remix EP of their "Ain't Nobody" tune. Chris Gresswell provides a deep, subby bassline, while Cavna is in a party mood with his sample-fuelled, old-school house refix. High Society step up and deliver another bouncy house version, while Boy Raver and Pianoman team up to deliver a Chicago-inspired bomb made purely for a hot, sweaty summer dancefloor.

Spring Elements presents two new tracks from label bosses Deckstar aka Dean Gillen (the sparse 4 x 4 bass monster "Wondering") and Steve Brooke (the wobble-heavy diva rave of "Need 2 Tell You").
