Review: It's been a short while since we last took in a full length album project from a UK bassline project, so a certain amount of hat-tipping has to be directed towards the ever-ready Off Me Nut crew for bringing this one together. Keg Fool Venz is known for his classic, niche influenced style of bassline production, has pulled together a batch of 12 rave-ready chompers, exploring the full depth of that OG sound. From the high tempo LFO madness of 'Lost In U' and 'Don't Wanna Love U', to the more melodic infused wizardry of 'Up Down' and 'Move On', it's a project full of original party starters. The other main point of note is the quality of the two lead collaborations, with 'Smile' alongside James Burton working as a masterclass in niche production, alongside sweet vocal melodies of Gina on 'Need Someone'. Fantastic work!
Review: Sometimes, you just can't beat that original bassline sound, which is why the Off Me Nut imprint remains as popular as it always has been with their fun-filled catalogue of 4x4 flavour. J69 lands this time to deliver four warbling wonders, kicking off with the cheeky wobbles and skippy drum arrangements of 'Alien Dawg'. Next, the party intensifies somewhat as the choppy vocal segments of 'Like This' roll into play, alongside interesting sonics of 'Screwface's experimental drum work. Finally, we get grizzly as 'Twenty Oh 7' delivers a shell shocker of a bassline barrage, putting the finishing touches on a real party starter of a project!
Review: The party never stops over at Off Me Nut, the quintessential bassline label, showcasing the roots of the genre whilst also seamlessly moving with the times. This time around they welcome two heavyweight bass names as Phatworld & Venz team up across three crazy originals. Firstly, they unveil 'Mario' a warbling wonderland of fun, featuring additional work from Thorpey. They then move into more LFO madness in 'My Mind' which alongside scorching high energy rhythms also features vocal lines from Esme Sarfas. The project then rounds off on a high note with the sizzling synthesizer expansions of 'Noob Riddim', again, embodying the original spirit of bassline music with some serious finesse.
Deckster T & Matty C - "Run This One" (VIP) - (5:31) 140 BPM
Review: It's time for us to jump right back into the old school ways as we head over to camp Off Me Nut for a vibrant three track selection from Deckster T, bringing us a much needed taste of nostalgic-niche. We kick off with the animated LFO expressions and high tempo 2-step drum warbles of 'Woodcutter', followed very closely by the dancefloor ready ammunition of 'Yeah', again deploying nostalgic bass wobbles and high tempo rhythms alongside GeeGee. Finally, we move into an exciting VIP mix of 'Run This One', inviting Matty C back for a final rinse out. Classic Off Me Nut flavours on this one!
