Ondulé Recordings: Where House Music Grooves and Freedom Flow
Born in Paris in 2015, Ondulé Recordings is a brainchild of three passionate figures: Joss Moog, Around7, and Jean Cé (SFD). Their mission? To offer a soundscape rooted in the rich history of house music, pulsating with quality and driven by one essential element: groove.
Deeply inspired by disco, funk, soul/jazz, and hip-hop, Ondulé isn't confined by rigid genre classifications. Whether it's deep house, jacking house, nu disco, or downtempo, the label welcomes sonic diversity as long as it resonates with movement. It's a "shelter for freedom in music," where artistic expression takes center stage.
As the name suggests (Ondulé translates to "wavy" in English), the label embraces fluidity and evolution. What excites them today might not be the same tomorrow, but one thing remains constant: their music makes you want to undulate, to flow to its irresistible rhythm.

C D'la Dynamite - (5:45) 129 BPM Hot
Deconne Pas Morricone - (6:35) 125 BPM
Review: For its fifteenth release, Ondule looks to one of its co-founders. Around 7 has been producing house and hip-hop for well over a decade, and brings his deep experience to bare here for an unusual release. The title track is a slinky minimal house groove, featuring a hypnotic vocal sample and a bouncy rhythm. On "C'D'LA Dynamite", he opts for a tougher sound, with Madlib sampled in the middle of a raw, analogue techno workout. The surprises keep coming and "Deconne Pas Morricone" - supposedly a tribute to the esteemed composer - is a lush affair with diva vocals, a spoken word proclaiming that 'the revolution is coming' and lush strings, all playing out over a slinky, bleep-heavy groove.

Wanna Dance All Nite Long - (8:41) 126 BPM
Review: Having built his reputation via a string of dusty deep house EPs for Ondule Recordings, Hatelate is ready to unfurl his debut album. Predictably, it's something of a slow-burn delight, with the talented French producer supplementing his usual deep, dreamy, jazz-flecked and sample-heavy deep house workouts with a few pleasant surprises. These include the driving, funk-fuelled peak-time stomp of gritty bumper "Feeling Groove", the smoky slow jam "Introduction D'Acid Jazz", the superior, loopy disco-house thump of "Wanna Dance With Me" and the hybrid instrumental hip-hop/slow house head-nod of "Under Da Soul (Sunset Mix)". Of the numerous high-grade deep house workouts present, it's the epic, Chez Damier style "Chicago" that stands out.

Tools For Fools
Two For The Bass - (6:21) 125 BPM
Review: Un*Deux's previous outing on Ondule doffed an oversized cap to the funk-fuelled tech-house stylings of Robsoul Recordings, with a dash of DJ Sneak style bump thrown in for good measure. This time round, the French outfit has decided to mix things up a little. "Two For The Bass" combines sweaty, warehouse-friendly house ingredients - old scholl vocal samples, relentless percussion, and so on - with a throbbing, Giorgio Moroder style bassline, while "Tools For Fools" is a house tempo trip into the world of electronic jazz breaks. Throw in the loopy, mid-tempo, disc-tinged shuffle of "Groovy Vapes", and you have a pleasingly eclectic offering.

Oasis
Gogospel - (5:55) 125 BPM
Hold On - (5:21) 126 BPM
Review: Back in 2015, Joss Moog and Around 7 joined forces to deliver Ondule Recordings' debut release. Two years on, and with the label now riding high, they once again get together to serve up some serious dancefloor treats. Unlike their previous EP, which featured solo productions, Oasis is a genuine joint effort. In general, the tracks pair bumping, U.S-house influenced beats, dusty samples, and the kind of bold, tactile electronics that made Red Rack'em's "Wonky Bassline Disco Banger" such a hit. We're particularly enjoying the urgent preacher vocals, solid kick drums and psychedelic flute solos of "Gogospel", the musically rich, head-in-the clouds deep house warmth of "Green Grass", and the deliciously percussive, edit-not-edit brilliance of "Hold On".

RawZe EP
Let'Z Rock - (6:12) 125 BPM
RawZe - (6:11) 125 BPM Hot
Review: Since first surfacing on Robsoul Records three years ago, Around7 has developed into a producer with a unique musical voice. This latest outing - his second for the Ondule Recordings label he set up with pal Joss Moog last year - contains another quartet of peak-time friendly house bombs. Check, for example, the stuttering, cut-up samples and booming drums of "Let'Z Rock", the boompty-era jazz-house stomp of James Brown-sampling banger "RawZe", and the chunky and dusty deep house swing of "Black & BluZe". Arguably best of all, though, is opener "Bass IZ Walkin", which crafts a hot-to-trot house bumper out and gruff vocal stabs, drowsy chords, and a rising and falling bassline

Loop & Dance - (6:10) 126 BPM

Review: St Etienne-based HateLate has delivered some of the most impressive releases on Ondule Recordings to date. This is his third outing for the label, and adds a little more low-end grunt to his swinging drums and melodious deep house textures. He begins with the energetic dancefloor bump of "The Buzz" - all sweaty drums and drowsy lead lines - before expertly chopping up warm bass, chiming melodies and fizzing cymbals on the impressively restless "Loop & Dance". The rich, minor key chords return on the off-kilter deep house swing of "Luv Ritual", before he doffs a cap to classic disco house on the wonderfully low slung, bass-heavy thump of "Backroom '84".

Eloge De La Lenteur Part 2
No Trouble No Men - (6:11) 125 BPM
Hot Saussice - (6:15) 125 BPM
Review: Back in March, Ondule label boss Joss Moog and Sebastien "Around7" Guertau unveiled their 4th Sign project, launching with a fine collection of soul-flecked deepness. This speedy follow-up is every bit as alluring, with the French duo effortlessly floating between a variety of dancefloor moods and tempos. Contrast, for example, the smoky, mid-tempo jazz-house of "The Movement", the string-drenched, sumptuously soulful bump of "Deep Dip", and the near horizontal, slow house head-nod of closer "Lunatique". For those keen on more energetic dancefloor flavours, they've also included a pair of charged-up disco house smashers ("The Right Color", and "Hot Saussice").

Eloge De La Lenteur Pt 1
Sun Trip - (6:12) 125 BPM
Played by: Superbreak
Review: 4th Sign is a brand new project featuring Ondule label boss and French Touch revivalist, Joss Moog and Around7 (aka Sebastien Guertau, Parisian producer/musician). This is their debut release under their new moniker and they're very excited about it indeed. "Eloge De La Lenteur" roughly translates into English as 'in praise of slowness', and it's none more apt here, as the vibes stay chilled throughout its six tracks. Highlights include the smoldering loops of opener "Sparks", the frisky chirp-house of "Chelou" and the jazzy, broken beat soul of "Beautiful Friendship". Slow rules!

Around7 - "Super Spectacle" - (6:25) 126 BPM
Review: Ondule Records begins life with a clear intent on dropping a minimal kind of disco-edit groove for the contemporary dancefloor, and they're made the right move in asking Joss Moog to contribute. With many a release notched up for Robsoul and more, the Paris resident knows just how to simmer a good lick down its fundamentals as string it out over a mean house groove. "Tous Azimut" is the more heads-down of his two offerings, while "Menage A 3" gets a little feistier in its own insistent roll. Around7 meanwhile keeps the tension up to a maximum on "Super Spectacle" before offering up a more laid-back consideration on "M'as Tu Vu".
