Review: After a four-year hiatus, Joss Moog and Around7 have decided to reboot their Ondule Recordings imprint. Fittingly, the label's first missive of this new era comes from Around7 himself, making his return to action after a similarly lengthy break to recharge the batteries. The Paris-based producer begins with 'Rise', where subtly evolving (and pleasingly jazzy) electric piano loops ride a metronomic bassline and unfussy house drums before ushering in some superb jazz-funk bass guitar and mazy keyboard solos. Around7 then joins the dots between filter heavy 'French Touch' disco-house, jazzy nu-disco and warehouse-ready hedonism on 'Cuttin' Straight, before joining forces with Joss Moog on the '80s soul sampling deep house strut of 'Shine'.

Review: Given the respective impressive records of both Hurlee and Ondule Recordings, you'd rightly expect the Spanish producer's first outing for the French imprint to be rather good. It is of course, with opener "Confiture Du Jour" offering a pitch-perfect blend of lolloping, bass-heavy deep house grooves, jazzy guitar riffs, cut-up vocal snippets and hazy chords. The producer's love of sharp edits, tight loops and hip-hop style production tricks is explored further on the deep, drowsy and dreamy downtempo head-nodder "Revolution", while "Heal Me" is an extra-percussive bounce though chunky, late night deep house haziness that's every bit as alluring as you'd expect.

Review: Parisian deep house DJ Joss Moog's cheeky exploits have mainly come to appear on local Phil Weeks' esteemed Robsoul imprint, however he's also found time to release on his own Ondule label - which he has run with Jean Ce since 2015. Introducing the the Nocturne EP, which follows up some great releases thus far in 2018 by Labeuz, Reubents and Around7. From the title track's moody and hypnotic bounce, to the smoky jazz room vibe of "Pause" or the tough and funky boompty business of "Party Line" - again Moog perfectly bridges the gap between disco, funk, soul/jazz and hip hop: in a way that can only be matched possibly by Berlin's Money $ex crew.

Review: Given that their discography consists of a couple of contributions to compilation-style EPs, you'd be forgiven for being unfamiliar with the work of Rubents. This debut EP for Ondule Recordings should finally put them on the map, though. We found opener "The More I Get", a jacking and energy-packed stomper built around short, sharp electric piano riffs and a relentless bassline, to be particularly arresting (not to mention weighty), though the dreamy Joss Moog edit of electrofunk-inspired deep house roller "Heat Up" (so-called because it re-purposes the bassline from an old Shirley Lites jam) is almost as good. Intriguingly, the EP's other two tunes doff a cap to the high-octane thrills of Chicago juke whilst also utilizing a fine ranged of chopped and screwed vocal samples.

Review: Ondule Recordings proudly welcome a new deep house sensation to their illustrious catalogue, the fresh-faced, jazz-minded Labeuz. "Beaches" is something of a winner for being a debut track, carrying a punchy groove consisting of bittersweet Rhodes keys, swinging drums and a little vocal trickery on the samples - a veritable tool with purpose. Following from that, "Dubways" strips the keys back in favour of weightier low frequencies and cavernous echo FX, leaving "Comme Tie Belle Nicole" to provide the warmth in the form of some pretty soulful, funk-driven melodies. Effective house swingers for the wider dance conglomerate.

Review: For its fifteenth release, Ondule looks to one of its co-founders. Around 7 has been producing house and hip-hop for well over a decade, and brings his deep experience to bare here for an unusual release. The title track is a slinky minimal house groove, featuring a hypnotic vocal sample and a bouncy rhythm. On "C'D'LA Dynamite", he opts for a tougher sound, with Madlib sampled in the middle of a raw, analogue techno workout. The surprises keep coming and "Deconne Pas Morricone" - supposedly a tribute to the esteemed composer - is a lush affair with diva vocals, a spoken word proclaiming that 'the revolution is coming' and lush strings, all playing out over a slinky, bleep-heavy groove.

Review: Having built his reputation via a string of dusty deep house EPs for Ondule Recordings, Hatelate is ready to unfurl his debut album. Predictably, it's something of a slow-burn delight, with the talented French producer supplementing his usual deep, dreamy, jazz-flecked and sample-heavy deep house workouts with a few pleasant surprises. These include the driving, funk-fuelled peak-time stomp of gritty bumper "Feeling Groove", the smoky slow jam "Introduction D'Acid Jazz", the superior, loopy disco-house thump of "Wanna Dance With Me" and the hybrid instrumental hip-hop/slow house head-nod of "Under Da Soul (Sunset Mix)". Of the numerous high-grade deep house workouts present, it's the epic, Chez Damier style "Chicago" that stands out.

Review: Ondule Recordings' second label sampler is an all-star affair, featuring a trio of solo productions and a tasty collaboration between Chuck No and Mr Wilson. Their contribution, the fuzzy and thrusting, hard-wired loop jam "Shop of Moldes", is easily one of the EP's highlights, with the duo conjuring dancefloor madness out of a handful of chopped-up, funk-fuelled elements. Elsewhere, Rocco joins the dots between Todd Edwards style cut-up garage and chunky deep house on the sweaty "Over Me & You", Jean Jacques AKA 1980 fuses early Chicago house low-end and dusty jazz-house on the deep and groovy "Volume 2", and Truistik does his best DJ Sneak impression on the bustling boompty excursion that is "Mr Kirk".

Review: Un*Deux's previous outing on Ondule doffed an oversized cap to the funk-fuelled tech-house stylings of Robsoul Recordings, with a dash of DJ Sneak style bump thrown in for good measure. This time round, the French outfit has decided to mix things up a little. "Two For The Bass" combines sweaty, warehouse-friendly house ingredients - old scholl vocal samples, relentless percussion, and so on - with a throbbing, Giorgio Moroder style bassline, while "Tools For Fools" is a house tempo trip into the world of electronic jazz breaks. Throw in the loopy, mid-tempo, disc-tinged shuffle of "Groovy Vapes", and you have a pleasingly eclectic offering.

Review: Back in 2015, Joss Moog and Around 7 joined forces to deliver Ondule Recordings' debut release. Two years on, and with the label now riding high, they once again get together to serve up some serious dancefloor treats. Unlike their previous EP, which featured solo productions, Oasis is a genuine joint effort. In general, the tracks pair bumping, U.S-house influenced beats, dusty samples, and the kind of bold, tactile electronics that made Red Rack'em's "Wonky Bassline Disco Banger" such a hit. We're particularly enjoying the urgent preacher vocals, solid kick drums and psychedelic flute solos of "Gogospel", the musically rich, head-in-the clouds deep house warmth of "Green Grass", and the deliciously percussive, edit-not-edit brilliance of "Hold On".
