The Boombox Affair
The Boombox Affair - (8:50) 123 BPM Hot
Beats & Bubbles - (8:48) 123 BPM
The Boombox Acidapella - (4:58) 123 BPM
Review: Paranoid London met the larger than life DJ Bubbles at the Sunset Campout in California last year, after giving him a pair of socks to pad his bra out. They all decided that they should make a track together but right before it was meant to happen - Bubbles was murdered in the Tenderloin District of San Francisco. To date the crime remains unsolved. They decided they had to make the track, taking some audio from his Facebook account then adding their usual repetitive drums and acid - the result is "The Boombox Affair". All profits from the record are going to two charities in San Fran that were close to Bubbles' heart. Finally, this record is a celebration of his life and the diversity of our culture, at a time when we all need reminding that dancing itself can be an act of subversion and revolution.

Review: Two years on from the release of his first Ideal Juice compilation, Djebali serves up a second collection of previously vinyl-only treats. Like its predecessor, Ideal Juice Compilation 2 features specially edited versions unique to the collection. As you'd expect, the 10-track collection is full of warm, woozy and emotion-rich deep house treats, with highlights including the bouncing, sun-kissed jazziness of "Sure Shot", the disco-fired warmth of "36th New Street", the low-slung, mid-'90s NYC revivalism of "The Nine Star" and the rubbery peak-time pulse of "Punchline", where early Floating Points style synthesizer motifs rise above a loopy, string-laden groove and bustling beats.

Love Jam
Love Jam - (8:10) 124 BPM
Makin' Love - (9:34) 120 BPM Hot
Review: As the more accessible side to Frank Timm's output (compared to the abrasive attack of Soundhack), Sound Stream tracks can do no wrong on the floor. Take "Love Jam" as a searing case in point, the smartly tweaked chop of that lead hook forcing physical reactions and endorphin rushes from anyone within a mile radius of the system bearing the sound. "Makin' Love" is perhaps more typical of the Sound Stream way, wearing its disco stripes more obviously, but still these are examples of how to master the loop ethic in dance music, fuse old and new techniques together impeccably and create funky perfection for any party loving people.

Castling Becomes Inevitable - (4:18) 124 BPM
Review: It's been three years since Ancient Methods' last EP on their own label, with the duo in the meantime becoming a solo project. The now mysterious solitary act delivers a four-track EP entitled Seventh Seal, which in comparison to their earlier output, sees Ancient Methods ease up on the ear-serrating sonics that first garnered them the attention of hardened techno lovers. It does however still pack the industrial weight and displays of menacing grooves the project is known for, most notably "Knights & Bishops". Following a similar chess themed motif, the percussion of "Kings & Pawns" swings and scrapes like a medieval weapon, while church hall chants and machine gun drum patters play major roles in "When All Is Said & Done" and "Castling Becomes Inevitable".
