Review: With Pote's own releases on Black Gold helping the emerging pop star get picked up by Benji B's Deviation label - that culminated in 2018's Spiral, My Love - A Tenuous Tale Of Her will officially go down as the debut release for Bonobo's new OUTLIER imprint. Taking on a more immersive and atmospheric direction for his second full length, Pote, for the curious, plays with Moondog motifs in "Pretty Penny's Interlude" - next to some impressive post-IDM sounds featuring Congolese-Canadian vocalist Pierre Kwenders - while always keeping his Caribbean flair within earshot, no matter the genre he's bending; house, soul, new age synth, kuduro. Damon Albarn features on "Young Lies" thanks to a hook up with Gorillaz producer Remi Kabaka Jr, with other highlights amid Pote's vocal work including the house grooves of "Open Up", bassline trance of "Lows" to the stomping progressions of "Valley".
