Patate Records is a records shop & label based in Paris, France.
It started as a Reggae-Funk records shop in 1992 and soon became a strictly Reggae shop a couple years later, when Super Clark quit to pursue a musician career with the Soul-Funk Brass Band "Ceux Qui Marchent Debout".
In 1996, Pierre, the owner of shop, asked Manu, editor of French fanzine Let's Skank, to produce a compilation featuring bands from all over the world. That's how the label started.
Over the years, we have released hundreds of albums and singles, either reissue of old Jamaican recordings or our own productions with French and Jamaican singers.
Jamaican artists include Earl Sixteen, U Brown, Rod Taylor, Alton Ellis, Horace Andy, Joseph Cotton, Cornell Campbell, Carl Dawkins, Phillip Fraser ...
French artists include Azrock, Uman, Monsieur Lezard, ASPO, Jim Murple Memorial, Orange Street, Western Special, ...
We also have a couple of subsidiaries labels such as Belleville Hill, Belleville International and King Patate.
