Review: It's no surprise that Baldo's "Ride the Night" has become a dance floor favourite. Drawing on acid and Italo influences that play out over a throbbing techno groove, it is the ultimate contemporary club track. Its stature poses a challenge for those whom Permanent Vacation have tasked to remix it, but each version succeeds in delivering a fresh perspective. Red Axes bring some industrial force and day glo psychedelia on their version. Alex Neri opts for a different approach, re-positioning the original amid flowing deep house textures. Jennifer Loveless' take follows a third alternative, as a pulsating bass supports dramatic builds and drops.

Review: Following well received vinyl outings on Slump Recordings, Threads and Semi-Delicious, Stuttgart producer mpeg makes his bow on Permanent Vacation. He hits the ground running on opener 'Seaweed', where marimba style melodies and dreamy chords ride a deep, sturdy sub-bass motif and crunchy house drums, before reaching for rubbery riffs, bouncy beats, squelchy bass and tech-house sonics on 'Prospect Theory'. Mpeg opts for rushing piano riffs, sparkling melodies and chunky, hip-swinging beats of 'Gentle Grit' - a genuine shot of loved-up positivity - while 'Off Disc' joins the dots between deep space techno and bustling breakbeat house. To complete a fine package, Baby Rollen drops a decidedly psychedelic, trance-inducing take on 'Gentle Grit'.

Review: Legends of the scene Hard Ton find their way to Permanent Vacation with a most inspired Love Will Save The Day EP. Keeping it real with the electro and disco-leaning dance hit, aka the title-track, it comes served with two banging Lipelis remakes - with the stripped back acid bassline of the remix an inspired highlight, while the instrumental goes hard and sweet too. With a classic Chicago-styled club dub as extra, get yourself back at the dancefloors of Rimini via that lush Chi-Town sound - Love Will Save The Day.

Review: The summer season may be winding down, but listening to Dancing Doughs, it sounds like the outdoor parties have not yet reached their conclusion. "Party Forever" is the soundtrack for hedonistic nights, thanks to its squelching bass and catchy Italo melodies. Baldo even throws in some deft snare rolls to lend the track further momentum. "The Disco Bus" is just as celebratory. Based on a rolling break beat, it is peppered with fun vocal samples and spiralling acid lines. The only suggestion that Baldo might be in more reflective mood comes on the closer, "Not Just Physical". Featuring dreamy vocals, swirling synths and a rolling groove, it's the deepest track on the release.

Review: Following successful collaborations with Yuksek and Channel Tres, Hamburger Records regulars Polo & Pan join forces with the mighty Red Axes. The headline attraction is title track 'Mumia', a bass-heavy bounce through mutant Afro-house territory featuring hallucinatory, echo-laden horn sounds, wonky electronic lead lines and an infectious groove. Fittingly, both artists provide personal interpretations too. Polo& Pan successfully re-imagine it as a sun-soaked, effects-laden Balearic bouncer with a jaunty-as-anything, reggae-influenced beat, more horns and sun-splashed melodies, before Red Axes take it into druggy, early morning, acid house-with-added-percussion territory. Also worth a listen is Sunoco sporting bonus cut 'Desperado', a low-slung, mid-tempo, dub disco influenced shuffler that's as positive sounding as they come.

Review: Berlin-based Italian Massimilliano Pagliara's most recent album, last year's excellent See You In Paradise, has been given the remix treatment, with the resultant rubs being released over a series of must-check EPs. This first volume opens with a pair of predictably impressive versions of Coloray and Fort Romeau collaboration 'Reset' by Norwegian superstar Prins Thomas. His full vocal 'Remix' is a typically epic blend of space disco sonics, rubbery dub disco bass, Italo-disco electronics and hands-in-the-air energy, while the accompanying 'Disko Dub' offers similar thrills without the sing-along sections. To round off a fine package, Hard Ton re-imagine 'Snap Out' as a nostalgic, rush-inducing fusion of warehouse-ready 1990s piano house and glassy-eyed Cocktail D'Amore electronic disco.
