Review: Australian label Pilot prides itself on releasing locally produced music that canvasses everything from the jazzy and downtempo, to hip hop, heartthrob pop and synthy house, through techno and ambient experimentations. The debut album from Oddessa is a combination of all those things, with tracks like "Breached" reaching for the experimental dancefloor-not-dancefloor side of club music, while "Close In The Night" combines Detroit techno with gritty funk and DJ Shadow-like sample beats. For the more abstract try the syncopated, low slung "Eldon Song" and "Gunned Down" - or perhaps the harpsichord twang of the LP's title track "Intrigue".
