"New Set Up" resounds to a similar tempo, but on this occasion, atmospheric synths lend the arrangement a deeper edge. Led by surging chords and tight percussive bursts, it lives up to its title. Lenny San's "Orbital" follows in a similar vein, albeit with a more intense take, as chords bluster and build over tough kicks and insistent hi hats. OFF / GRID, who has become a regular artist on Planet Rhythm, fuses tight percussion and steely drums with a looped synth on "Inner City Blues". Extending his musical range across four tracks, he kicks starts Post Urban Condition with the title track's angular, metallic rhythm. Review: When it comes to traditional warehouse industrial techno these days a producer leading the charge is France's klint, an artist who returns to Planet Rhythm following his 2022 Industry EP. Making his way to other labels like EarToGround, Modularz, Truncate and Rekids Special Projects of late also - he hits all the right notes in this Blues & Machines EP. Very much Detroit inspired, each track here plays out like some kind of new school amalgamation of Robert Hood's legendary Minimal Nation album mixed with a touch of Motor: Nighttime World 3 with some futuristic Kraftwerk ("Back 2 Back") thrown in for good measure.

Review: Not to be confused with a dethroned French monarch, Louis The 4th drops a crafty EP for the seminal Planet Rhythm label. With a focus on hard-edged, stripped back club techno throughout, the release gets off to a frenetic start thanks to the propulsive, percussive "Blue Monday". This regal sounding producer follows a similar path on "Auto Regulation", where a slamming rhythm goes through a series of filtered builds and drops. Review: Presion is a relative newcomer, but on this split release, they go head-to-head with the prolific Yan Cook. "Dominant" is a hypnotic, rolling affair, with Presion dropping looped drums and relentless percussion. Factor in some swirling acid and it's a near perfect dance floor techno track. It's also similar to Yan Cook's approach; on "Fog Catcher", he deploys chiming chords over a driving rhythm. Meanwhile on "Spaz", Cook melds clanging riffs and piledriving percussion with a dense, looped groove. The only sonic outlier here is the Hector Oakes version of Presion's "Dominant". It sees the storied producer serve up a grittier, more visceral sound that is markedly different to the other tracks.

Review: Following his Advance release earlier this year, Domenico Petrosino aka Earwax returns to Planet Rhythm with a high-octane four-tracker. "Flat Head" is a peak-time roller. Review: For the latest Planet Rhythm release, Klint delivers a four-track EP that draws on classic influences. "Titane" is a heavy, banging affair. It recalls the most visceral excesses of Hood minimalism, funnelling the Detroit producer's steely percussion and menacing organs into a linear, banging arrangement. On "Sauvage", Klint opts for a more measured sound, as atmospheric textures swirl and filter their way over a tight, percussive framework. "Perc" sees Klint venture down a dubby techno route, with warm, flowing keys playing out against insistent hi hats and a rolling groove, while shifting styles again, "Leo" is a fast-paced tribal workout that recalls vintage Oliver Ho.

Review: Muzmin follows two releases last year on Planet Rhythm with this hard-edged four-tracker. S-101 gets off to a visceral start with "Remora", where gritty kicks and steely percussion come together to conjure up a dark trip through the back alleys of Millsian techno. "Dfmeg", which follows in its wake, is a looped affair that resounds to a lithe, snaking rhythm, while the title track sees Muzmin drop a harsh analogue banger, led by noisy hi hats and rough drums. That same rough aesthetic is also audible on "Trak"; on this occasion, Muzmin raises the tempo to deliver a clanging rhythm track.

Review: On Side Effects, Red Rooms continues a fine run of Planet Rhythm releases that started with 2021's Cosmic Interference. "Radiation" gets this EP off to a frenetic start, with tough tribal beats underpinning cold, layered synths, while on the title track, a similarly high-tempo approach applies, this time led by driving percussion and a churning filter. "Black Holes" sees Red Rooms veer in a different direction, with cold, tonal bleeps unfolding over a stripped back, steely rhythm, while Side Effects also reveals a dubby edge to this talented producer's sound as hypnotic, eerie synths swirl over a cavernous groove and tough drums.

Review: Senh is a new producer, but he arrives on Planet Rhythm with a fully formed sound. "In Version" starts the release in clubby mode, as rasping percussion is fused with soaring chords to create a deep but dance floor friendly workout. The title track sees Senh opt for a more esoteric approach, with stuttering vocal samples wrapped into dreamy melodies and clicking drums, which sounds similar to Lawrence's output on Dial. He raises the tempo on "Rainbow Dub", where chords surge over a slamming rhythm, while "The Healer" marks a return to the type of swinging rhythm he deployed on "In Version". All told, it's a fine, nuanced dance floor release.
