Review: Dutch dirt-peddler Proxima has been cooking up cross-genre vibes on so many burners he?s been awarded a Michelin Star. Here we find him on Melbourne?s ever-developing community-focused Plasma brand with two gritty halftime slappers: ?Crane? wobbles with a shimmering, hypnotic synth hook and steel foundry beats while ?Jibber? rolls with a juicy happy-slapping funk feeling thanks to its tight guitar lick and sneering, wheezing neuro textures in the bass department. Wait for the switch midway? ouch!
Review: Damn! It's the hottest, dirtiest drum and bass collaboration of 2015 / 2016 back and on Plasma Audio. Sabre and Alix Perez have already dropped a shared effort on Goldie's Metalheadz and it was one of the most interesting releases to come out of the label in a while. The original mix to "Yoga" is the sound of now, a half-stepping, slow-paced mutant of drum and bass that slithers and cuts its way through the mix, reminding us of hip-hop. You also get an Alix Perez club mix, and also a dirtier, more gruesome Warped mix. Hot.
Review: There are super-collabo and then there are genuinely epic hook-ups like this. Plasma bossman Safire and MC/poet/soulman extraordinaire DRS are the consistent figures across both tracks as two of the best producers in the game join in for each piece. Skeppy takes the lead with the purring, deep breath creeper "With You". The ideal glacial bed for Del's cold bars, if you're not goosebumping to this there's something wrong with your soul. Similarly, if you're not swooning in good vibrations to "Set The Bar" - this time with absolute OG Zed Bias joining them on dials - then you should call a doctor ASAP. What a release.
