Subbeat EP
Subbeat - (7:02) 133 BPM
Subbeat (Jean Pierre remix) - (7:53) 130 BPM Hot
Acidsia - (6:27) 130 BPM
Acidsia (Synthless mix) - (6:27) 130 BPM
Review: Having previously impressed with a series of collaborative singles on Play It Say It, Florentine producer Leonardo Gonnelli and "live electronic act" Adne return to the label with another suitably strong EP. This time round there are two original cuts to choose from: the high-octane, driving tech-house hustle of "Subbeat", where wonky noises and sweaty percussion ride a formidable groove, and the similarly dense, druggy and dancefloor friendly "Acidsia." Both tracks are accompanied by rock solid remixes, too. Jean Pierre delivers a suitably spaced-out hybrid tech-house/deep house tweak of "Subbeat" that's less claustrophobic than the original mix, while the "Synthesis Mix" of "Acidsia" makes much greater use of off-kilter spoken word vocals and bouncier, Hot Creations style beats.

Art Is Long - (6:17) 127 BPM
Steezin' - (6:10) 131 BPM
Played by: Danny Howard
Review: With recent releases for Desolat and Whippin' that saw Mason Collective team up with legendary Detroit producer Stacey Pullen, the three piece arrive on Seth Troxler's Play It Say It label with a four-track EP of bassline-centric clubs tracks. "That's Gas" pushes electro swing vocals, bumping basslines and classic old school Chicago percussion with the type of tom-foolery you'd expect from a Yello production in the background. Dirty club vibes make it to "Ready To Work" with an undeniable hi-hat groove while techier workouts set up "Steezin'". With more melody, minimalism and dynamics to be found on the title-track, "Art Is Long" is a perfect cut for those free and easy Sunday after hour sessions.

Inhibitions (Twighlight mix) - (5:57) 129 BPM
Cherry Bomb - (6:17) 127 BPM Hot
Buchabeats - (6:47) 125 BPM
Review: Up and coming sounds from the New York club scene right now point to David Berrie, a producer who in some three years has collaborated with Jamie Jones via Hot Creations and landed another record on Hottrax and Seth Troxler's Play It Say It. Inhibitions serves up three more finely tuned numbers in classy club house, with a dubbed out Twilight mix of the title track added for good measure. In comparison to the original, vocals are distant, hazier and trippier with subtle phasing effects brought to foreground to stylistic effect. Subtle strands of kuduro vocals are threaded between a mix of skipping hi hats and walking basslines in "Cherry Bomb" while for the dubwise vinyl pop lovers out there's the sweet chord play and detuned vocals that hit the spot in "Buchabeats".

Party Wall - (6:55) 125 BPM
By My Side - (7:41) 125 BPM Hot
Played by: Kate Simko
Review: It's been a while since we've heard from London-based minimal heroine Kate Simko, the last time being the epic London Electronic Orchestra & project she was involved in back in 2016. The Chicago native's hybrid electronic-orchestral music has taken her to high class events around the world, including her and Jamie Jones' sold out 'Opus 1' debut at the Barbican Centre last Autumn, while her solo releases have appeared on Last Night on Earth, No.19 Music and Get Physical amongst others. Get ready to work up a sweat with these two solid grooves: from the tough yet emotive boompty-funk of "By My Side", followed by the deeper and more introspective "Party Wall" (harking back to her minimal techno days) while retaining an undeniable Windy City style attitude of her hometown.

Haggerstation - (8:54) 128 BPM
Lost Time - (6:09) 132 BPM
London - (7:43) 129 BPM
Review: With releases on labels like Blind Vision and Vatos Locos already to his credit, Javier Carballo now brings his Terms project to Seth Troxler's imprint. The title track is a dubbed out affair, featuring warbling acid lines and spaced out vocal samples, while on "Haggerstation", he changes focus and ups the tempo to deliver a rough, drum-heavy workout that resounds to wired 303 pulses. In contrast, "Lost Time" is a deeper, niggling groove that calls to mind the late 90s tech-house of acts like Circulation, while on "London", he reverts to the type of gritty, drum-led sound that prevailed on "Haggerstation".

Pa Chu - (6:00) 128 BPM
Aire Libre - (6:08) 126 BPM
Part Of The Beautiful - (7:04) 127 BPM
Review: Spain's Cuartero covers a fair range of musical ground on this EP. 'Micromaya' is a funk-fuelled tech-houser, propelled along by a rolling bassline and topped with cut-up male rap fragments, 'Aire Libre' is a sparser cut that harks back to mid-00s minimal/glitch with its micro-percussion and stop-start feel, while 'Part Of The Affair' blends the floor appeal of tech-house, the intricate sonic detail of minimal and the groove of deep house. 'Pa Chu' meanwhile, has a similar MO to the latter but also sports a vocal that's ostensibly saying "pa chu" but SOUNDS like it's saying "bad tune!" - and it is, in the best possible way.

Me, You, Us
Me, You, Us - (5:38) 125 BPM Hot
Review: Seth Troxler takes a break from collaborating with Phil Moffa on the superbly sci-fi Lost Souls of Saturn project to join forces with a far more mysterious outfit. His Play It Say It label isn't giving away the identity of the producer (or producers) behind the Day or Night project, but the suspicious is that he/she/they are big in the game. "Me, You, Us" is pretty darn good all told, with Troxler and his shadowy collaborators wrapping trippy motifs, odd spoken word vocal snippets and a nagging synth hook around a rolling, delay-laden drum track reminiscent of those used by New York's proto-house producers in the early-to-mid 1980s

Review: Leonardo Gonnelli & Adne are back on Play It Say it (one month after their last outing on the label) with another fantastic EP. Florentine DJ/producer Gonnelli has been on the scene for 10 years, with his distinct take on house finding favour on top labels like Gruuv, Get Physical and Deeperfect. He joins up again with with Adne: a live outfit who bring samples, live vocals and a love of weirdness to their music. Features the boompty minimal house groove of "Is It Right" (and its infectious acid inflections) as well as the similarly styled "Girl" pllus the tribal hypnotic groove of "Maaya". Also featured is by a thumping rework of "Is It Right" by the FUSE London affiliated Seb Zito - which takes the track from the afterhours to the peak time.

Review: Detroit's finest Ataxia return to Seth Troxler's Play It Say It, with their incredible new five-track EP - their third appearance now on Seth Troxler's esteemed label. Ataxia had a huge year in 2018 with EPs also on Visionquest, KMS, Leftroom and Nervous. All the while they have maintained their now ten-year residency at top Detroit venue TV Lounge. These are five off kilter club cuts that bring plenty of new ideas to the table, and with style to spare. There's a dark tunnelling journey aboard the acid express on "6 LFO", a deep down and dirty percolator jack on "Macara" with more 303 shenanigans and some tough rolling tech house for the main room on "The Globe".

Review: With a career spanning over a decade, Florentine DJ/producer Leonardo Gonnelli is no stranger to the big stage. With recent releases for Deeperfect, Gruuv and Get Physical, this impressive Italian continues on engineering high grade weapons for the main room with this new one for Seth Troxler's Play It Say It! Under the new alias of Adne (where is is joined by good buddies Mirko and Joele) they serve up three bombs aimed squarely at the main room dancefloor on the Raw Groove EP. From the jacking groove of the title track and its infectious cut up hip-hop vocals, to the deep and intoxicating minimal bounce of "Feeling Your Body" (that's ideal for the afterhours) or the tough rolling tech funk of "Work It" that's perfect for those heads-down moments - this mighty trio has all you need right here!

My Way (The Martinez Brothers remix) - (6:04) 127 BPM Hot
Played by: Green Velvet
Review: Swiss DJ/producer Andrea Oliva continues on his winning streak of hot releases, following up efforts on top labels like Desolat, Hot Creations, Dirtybird and Relief. His latest effort comes courtesy of Seth Troxler's Play It Say It and comes with a superb remix by The Martinez Brothers. The title track is a heated serving of groovy acid house mayhem that's aimed squarely at the main room dancefloor at peak time. The aforementioned remix by New York City's favourite sons goes down a much darker route - a heads down affair geared for going harder when the strobe light comes on - but still utilising those cheeky rap vocals to impressive effect.

Devo To Acid EP
Devo To Acid - (6:09) 126 BPM Hot
Dancing Desire - (5:44) 126 BPM
Parade - (6:48) 125 BPM
Review: Label chief Seth Troxler's motto is that if you play it, say it - and nothing announces his intention as loud and clear than this release by power duo Luca Donzelli & Mar T. Florentine Amnesia resident Donzelli and Spaniard Mar T previously hooked up on bangers like the Panzadelic EP on Roush a few months ago, no to mention last year's terrific "Stay Alert Stay Alive" on Elrow Music. The sleek and jacking retro-inflected bounce of "Devo To Acid" features a familiar hook from a yesteryear classic, while the druggy afterhours groove of "Dancing Desire" will easily set the mood during the morning set. Closing out the killer EP is the euphoric "Parade" and its electrifying chord progression.

Review: Next up on Seth Troxler's Play It Say is quite a surprising addition we must say: Brummie tech house legend Steve Lawler - who should really need no introduction should he? The ViVA Records boss was instrumental in bringing the tribal progressive sound from New York to the UK at the turn on the millennium - making the sound his own along the way as both a DJ and producer. Fast forward to 2019, he's taken time out from his own successful label to appear on another top imprint with his strong percussion driven grooves, as heard on "Narnia" but just wait for that awesome soul sample to come in at the halfway point - very uplifting! Comes with a bangin' latin-infused Techno Tool version and a deep down and dusty ABSOLUTE. Remix.

One Night Forever - (5:05) 128 BPM Hot
Review: Seth Troxler's label opens its account for 2019 with this two-tracker from mysterious new artist Flightmode. "One Night Forever" is an unusual combination, with an acidic bass and spiky percussion providing the basis for moody chords that shimmer and build over a frazzled backing. However, it's the title track that's likely to get most of the attention. Set to a frenetic pace, it also features evocative, soaring melodies, but this time they are realised against the backdrop of firing hi-hats and and a linear rhythm. Whoever is behind Flightmode knows how to steer their sound into unusual territories.

Review: NYC's David Berrie has taken his passion to the studio by storm, releasing on labels such as Cuttin' Headz, Hottrax and his most recent collaboration with Jamie Jones on Hot Creations. Add to this his residencies at top clubs such as Output and DC-10 and it is further evidence his career is on the ascent. His new one on Seth Troxler's Play It Say It is one that offers three dynamite pieces of punchy, high impact and inventive house music. From the dirty boompty bounce of "Revolution", the deep, funky and rolling shenanigans of "JB Loop" (which takes it down a more minimalist route for the afterhours) and likewise the trippy "Rear End" is perfect to keep the party going well into midday.

Review: Seth Troxler's Play It Say It welcomes a trio of top talents for a new EP featuring four fresh dancefloor tracks that are destined for big things. First up is Romanian wunderkind Luca M (Terminal M/Suara) - the Get Funky Music boss collaborating with good buddy JUST2 on a bunch of deep and trippy grooves. From the gritty and sleazy backroom dub of "Acid Ghetto" with its siganture 303 wobble, to the reduced minimal hypnotism of "Bechamel" which is done in idiosyncratic Romanian style if we've ever heard it. Finally Luca M chooses another collaborator in the form of Atapy - who he deisgnates studio time with Just2 for the tough rolling pre-peak time bounce of "Levels".

As you've come to expect from Zito: "On It" is another hypnotic, bass driven and swing-fuelled work out, that supports a 'delectable' vocal performance by a yet unknown singer. Move Like A Panther (feat Elbee Bad) - (5:36) 127 BPM
Review: Argy has released on well-known labels like Bedrock, BPitch and Ibadan, and now makes his debut on Seth Troxler's label. Like the rest of his output, Kings is a distinctive affair; the title track revolves around an eerie bass, middle eastern motifs and strangely robotic percussion, but Argy brings these elements together to make a definite clubby sound. On "Los Animales", he opts for a less immediate approach, with mysterious vocals and recycled rave stabs unfolding over stepping beats. Meanwhile he teams up with US house legend Elbee Bad for "Move Like a Panther"; working with his collaborator's ponderous vocals, Argy lays down a moody, bass-heavy groove that has echoes of vintage Blake Baxter.

Review: Seth Troxler follows his recent release on Play It Say It with this fine split release. Working as Young Seth, he drops the deep, dubbed out house of "Moment", while "Relationships" sees him working under his own name with an equally cavernous but acid-laced groove. Then it's back to dance floor business for the time stretched vocals and stripped back rhythm of "Satisfy" and "Still Hot", a tracky affair penned with Shaun Reeves from Visionquest. However, this release demonstrates that Troxler is a restless producer and "Jus Your" is a quirky electro-funk affair, while "Aphrika" is an off beat, vocal led house jam. The release also features an old school house take on Kiki's "Good Voodoo" and Troxler's pulsating take on Fever Ray's "Seven".

Stefan Tretau - "Chittagong" (Seth Troxler Jack Moves remix) - (6:32) 127 BPM
Review: As befits one of the most daring big name DJs, Seth Troxler's latest offering on his label is hard to pin down. "Blackclap" starts with the kind of warped stuttering percussion that defined mmml - possibly a tongue in cheek nod from Troxler - before moving into an effective, stepping rhythm. "Aggression" sounds inspired by his home town, Detroit; a tone-shifting bass unravels over dense drums as a scrambled radio broadcast plays away in the background. In truly unpredictable form, on the flip side Troxler opens things up to some of his close associates; the Thrill Cosby take on Heartthrob's "Signs" is a morose, noisy stepper, while Troxler himself turns Stefan Tretau's "Chittagong" into a stripped back, bleepy rhythm.

Review: While nowhere near as prolific as he once was, Get Physical legend DJ T is still capable of churning out the hits. For proof, look no further than this three-tracker for Play It, Say It, which marks the German veteran's first release of 2018. Opener "Keep It Close" is particularly weighty, with sharp, rave-influenced stabs and swivel-eyed electronics rising above a thrusting, bass-heavy groove. The shirts-off vibe continues on the arguably even more rave-centric roller "The Day It All Started", while mind-altering closer "1988" is a pitch-perfect romp through jackin' Chicago acid house territory with a few ethereal, drifting vocal samples included.

They followed that up with a long awaited EP for Seth Troxler's Play It Say It last year and here we go again with the impressive follow up: Rave Oddities EP. From the minimalist and hypnotic spell casting of "Quicksand" which is very Motor City with its sense of funk and vaguely reminiscent of Mathew Jonson. Review: Jesse Siminski returns with a great new EP for Seth Troxler's esteemed imprint. This hero of mid-noughties minimal is most defined by his output on Richie Hawtin's M-nus powerhouse, in addition to releases on Hot Creations and of course his on ISNISNT vinyl imprint - launched in 2012. It just released a great split EP by himself and acid freak Justin Cudmore. 'Nairobi Candles: Burning Bright' features three reduced and bumped out jams that are at their optimum when played in the early evening or after hours alike. The bass driven mini-funk of dynamic opener "Stop Lorraine" (No One's Gunna Stop mix) proves that as much as Siminki's output has slowed down in recent years, he certainly hasn't lost his groove. The title track's Fuck Rachel Tension mix gets off on a more retro tip, referencing Italo and early Chicago house aesthetics for a right jackathon!

Prepare for some throwback sounds from someone who was actually there back in the day: namely on the deep tribal house of "Mother Earth" one of those jams that Junior Vasquez would have played at his acclaimed residency at Twilo. Review: French producer The Mekanism released his impressive "Breathe" EP earlier in 2017 for Seth Troxler's Play It Say It imprint and here come the remixes. They've tapped a bunch of heavy hitters for such duties - beginning with Parisian legends Chris Carrier & Dan Ghenacia who nail that sexy and slinky tech house sound from their home city on a remix of "Journey" that retains the sick acid of the original. The Visionquest affiliated Ryan Crosson hands in two remixes: firstly the Break remix of "Breath" going for an early '90s rave feel, then a beatless ambient version up next. French hooligans dOP surprisingly hand in something more serious than you'd usually expect from the bunch. The Circus Company affiliated trio give "Breath" an emotive acid house makeover reminiscent of early A Guy Called Gerald, which we were all over!

The Supertouch EP
Time Original - (6:04) 128 BPM
Supertouch - (6:40) 125 BPM Hot
Villians - (7:05) 125 BPM
Review: Seth Troxler's hometown features in the latest release on his label. Like the Play It Say It boss, Ataxia also hail from Detroit. However, their sound has more reference points with UK influences. "Time Original" is a pacy tribal groove, populated by tonal squiggles and frosty chords. It sounds like an update on what Swag Records were releasing back during the late 90s/early 00s (long before tech-house became a dirty term). On the title track, a tripped out vocal and more weird tones weave their way through an acidic underbelly, while Ataxia bring the release to a close with "Villains". More understated than the previous tracks, it possesses a similarly out there feeling thanks to its frozen filters and goofy vocal sample.

Thrillseekers (Midnite Jackers remix) - (7:34) 125 BPM
Review: A group of Detroit titans have assembled together to create a huge house release on Seth Troxler's Play It Say It Records. Featuring Andy Toth & Billy Love's sensual and playful "Thrillseekers", it's filled with dynamic remixes from Motor City legends Chuck Daniels, DJ Godfather and Andres plus Midnite Jackers, Oliver Dollar & Matthew K and Michigan Left. Billy Love recalls a time when he was a male dancer at the iconic strip club, Watts Club Mozambique and "Thrillseekers" soul infused vocals, are a perfect fit to tell it's story. The track's thumpy kicks and bass heavy stabs are neatly blended together, making "Thrillseekers" fit for a club floor filler. In the last of the remixes, the worlds of electro and funk meet, where reverb heavy claps, a warped bassline and funky vocals collide. This Detroit release really is one that is needed for your summer playlist.

Review: Looped up and funky disco house shenanigans courtesy of Glasgow's Sub Club resident and son of Harri: Jasper James with the "Dirty Wrong" on Seth Troxler's always reliable Play It Say It. This is his third release following up some impressive outings on Optimo Trax and Leftroom in recent years. The London based deep house legend Rob Mello hands in a brilliant rendition on another one of his wicked No Ears remixes and there's a handy dub version included for DJ use only!

Review: Paris based producer The Mekanism is up next on Seth Troxler's Play It Say It, who have recently brought us some great tracks by the likes of Jesse Rose and Doorly. The Breath LP is the act's debut album and the second release for the label since last year's Acid Love EP. Starting out with the tough acid house that is the title track, there's more quality on the fully fledged jackathon of "Da Beat" where you'll sound find a common influence throughout all of these tracks: the early sounds of Chicago, of course. Particularly at the end on "Follow Me" or "Time To Party" in particular, calling to mind the early seminal work of Adonis or Todd Terry.

The Magic Room
The Magic Room (Dino Lenny & Seth Troxler Re edit) - (8:30) 120 BPM Hot
The Magic Room (Luke Solomon's 'Live Forever' remix) - (9:12) 120 BPM
The Magic Room (Doorly Re Chunk mix) - (8:11) 120 BPM
Review: It would be fair to refer to Dino Lenny as a "veteran": the Italian producer has been churning out dancefloor hits since the dawn of the '90s. This release sees him join forces with Cajual and Hot Creations regular Doorly for a loving tribute to the joys of club culture. The action centres on a meandering, largely spoken vocal describing a mesmerizing late night dancing experience in "The Magic Room". On the lead version - a tasty re-edit by Lenny and Seth Troxler - this is accompanied by "Lazy" style pianos, and a chunky, disco-tinged house groove. The low-slung guitars and bass are pushed to the fore on Doorly's energy-packed remix, while Luke Solomon doffs a cap to the jazz-flecked boompty sounds of Chicago on his busy rework.

Review: Toronto veteran Sean Miller is back after great appearances for Knee Deep In Sound, Stereo and Tsuba with this new thrasher for Play It, Say It. Starting out in style with the bumpin' and shuffling tech house of "Tiger Spirit" (which is reminiscent of fellow T.dot veteran Mike Shannon) he gets all summery and housey on us next with the funky disco loops of "Together". Elsewhere "Life" gets that rolling, main room vibe that'd be perfect for rocking dancefloors on The White Isle at the tail end of Summer, while "Got It Going On" gets all deep, low-slung and funky for the after-hours.

Review: German house hero Butch is back on the scene and doing what he does best: cleverly sampled disco house tracks reminiscent of his 2010 breakthrough hit "No Worries" on Cecille. "Dope" is filtered funky house at its finest, reminiscent of late noughties anthems by Brian Tappert and Eddie Amador, while "Praise The Lord" samples James Brown and Todd Terry at the same time on this cheeky, funked up hoedown that ticks all the right boxes. This will have just as many girls as boys on the dancefloor. It's imperative!

Tripi
Tripi (feat Manfred Manns Earth Band) - (7:44) 125 BPM
Review: Not content with his current status overseeing Visionquest with pals Shaun, Ryan and Lee, Mr Seth Troxler steps out with a new solo label endeavour in the shape of Play It Say It. Apparently taking its title from stickers on vinyl promos sent out during the '80s and '90s in Detroit, Troxler is aiming to keep Play It Say It as a low key, basic outlet for cuts that work well on the dancefloor and the label launches with a one tracker from Deep Disher Sharam. And yes you have read the product page correctly; "Tripi" features keys from Manfred Mann's Earth Band, though how much of a contribution is not discernible amidst the fizzing, skipping main room techno production.
