Review: Corentin Blondiau aka Taos already appeared on Plush a few years back, and he's returned to the South London label with all guns blazing for this latest meditative bass belter of an EP. All four tracks bring something different to the table: "Nuts Banging" merges Latin melodies together with dubbed-out bass drums, whilst "Teksu" goes down a militant wormhole of ninja percussion programming and crystalline atmospherics. Changing further still, "Underwater Skank" places aqueous, reverb-ridden half-step deep in an abyss of grainy low-ends and dreary-eyed vocals, but it's "Manifesto" which gets all the floor-power - nod ya head to that one in the dancehall...

Review: One of the US bass scene's more colourful characters, Quentin - or Quintonius the sage as he styles himself - has teamed up for two tight collabo exercises that work very different dancefloor limbs. "Cleo" is a progressive gem that sparkles the most in long, dark tunnels. Clunky two-steps smudge the rhythm as the vocals stir deep emotions to the floating backdrop of crisp clean synths. "Discomfort" is a much heavier affair with a thicker rhythm, more complex drums and bassline that doesn't sound a million miles away from Dead Prez. Big ups Quintonius.

Review: DnB Radio's second label Plush has had some impressive artists grace its books since its inception. Pushing the intelligent, deeper sounds of drum and bass, this EP looks to showcase some of their ethos, as well as providing a platform for some seriously intelligent newcomers to sound their battle cry. Paperclip launches straight in with the icy breaks of "In My Dreams", a solid techy roller with plenty of attitude. From his addition to the compilation, Durban definitely casts himself as one to watch with the oriental vibes of gorgeously flexing, neuro nasty "Infinity", featuring the smooth vocals of Ella. Shivaxi offers some respite in the calming deepness of "In The Moment", where ParaDigm's glitchy, intensely-studied "Modern Fortunes" acts as a half-time counterpoint to the EP's fast-paced d&b heart. Meek Odyssey bubble and brew a Bjork-influenced soundscape; Mr Mann adds some twinkling beauty and final track "Pheadra" offers some deep lulling bass to soothe and comfort. A seriously accomplished EP from some exciting new talents.

Review: With tracks and releases under his belt on Fokuz, Soul Deep and Luv Disaster - mostly during a super-productive 2012 - Brazilian basshead Duoscience is beginning to make something of a name for himself. This latest two-track missive is typical of his take on drum and bass. His cuts are rarely less than sunny, soul-flecked and surprisingly deep, and that's certainly the case here. Opener "Thanks" is particularly good, offering a smooth combination of South American breaks, warm chords and bluesy jazz horns. "Think", meanwhile, has a more rigid snappiness - all hypnotic bleep melodies, intricate percussion programming and laidback atmospherics

Review: Denver label Plush Recordings proudly present a decidedly plump retrospective of their output from the past two years. Across the count'em 36 tracks some familiar names are naturally present displaying the various slants on the Plush output - be it gloriously liquid funk or half step hip hop embellishments to more atmospheric strands of the drum and bass. Commencing in style with the jazzy textures of Contract Killers, the subsequent and exhaustive selection contains highlights almost too numerous to pick out and thus our best advice is to let you dig in and find your own favourites!

Review: Dreamy, ethereal D&B here from Self Definition on the Plush imprint. "Lost Land" is all shuffling beats and hissing hats, clicking and clapping with swathes of heavy atmospheric sweeps over the top like a weighty storm. The bassline undulates below like lapping waves and cooing instrumentals dance a-top. "Incognitus" (feat. Yankowsky) is all panpipes, spaced out SFX and oriental atmospheres, with a whispering vocal element and pattering breaks. Tripped out, blissed out D&B here with a difference.

Review: Plush Recordings call on Contract Killers, Soundwall, PFM and Formula One for two utterly beguiling excursions into liquid D&B funk. First up, "The Life Moments" by Contract Killers gets a refix from Soundwall, with the cavernous drop in tempo and vibe after the mid-section breakdown worth the admission price alone. PFM and Forumla One team up for "If You Were Mine", a liquid roller with smooth vocals, wistful percussion and squelchy bass stabs.

Review: If you like things deep, dark and brooding then this excellent release from Nitri on Plush should cut the proverbial mustard. A spaced out intro of crackling white noise and sonorous atmospherics swiftly progresses into a soundscape carved out from snapping snares and moody minimalism. As the track moves on, we are plunged deeper and deeper into the unknown, with only a glimmer of bassline pressure to guide us. Murky and meditative, this one track single provides plenty of food for thought.
