Review: Watergate resident La Fleur is back on her trusted Power Plant label, following up tracks on Truesoul, BR2 and Tsugi with an electrifying new release. The hypnotic splendour of "Aphelion" is the perfect mood setter for her monthly appearance at the esteemed Berlin superclub, with its sublime use of melody and energizing drum patterns. But the real scorcher here is the punchy tech house cut "Hunting Grounds" which strikes out in stylish pre-peak time fashion to bring on the A.M. hours.

Review: Swedish DJ La Fleur's new single "Right Behind You" marks the end of her busiest summer on record. It features vocals from Austrian vocalist/songwriter Lula, who is best known for her distinctive work on Danny Tenaglia club classics like personal favourite "Read My Lips". She's stated said Lula's voice is rather unique, with a particular way of singing on some of her favourite tracks from back in the day. Here however, we have a couple of remixes, which differ from the original but still are of equal quality. Italian songstress Francesca Lombardo's version is a dark and brooding dancefloor burner, which will certainly maintain energy levels. On the other hand, Justin Massei's rendition is much more uplifting; with its hands in the air house pianos over an evocative arrangement: the American in Berlin really nails it!
Review: Almost a year has passed since La Fleur's last outing on Power Plant, so this delayed follow-up is more than welcome. Pleasingly, it's also rather hard to categorize. The title track, in particular, is something of a fusion beast: a chunky peak-time workout that places Lula's trippy, delay-laden spoken word vocal atop an attractive combination of echoing late night melody motifs, thrusting analogue sub-bass and a densely layered, thrillingly percussive rhythm track. The cut's inherent trippy vibe is explored further on Francesca Lombardo's darker, more straightforward remix, before Justin Massei re-casts it as a dreamy, spacey and melodious chunk of Lauer style electronic deep house. Bumpy, bass-heavy bonus cut "Circadian" is also worth a listen.
Review: Swedish DJ and producer based in Berlin La Fleur is resident at local superclub Watergate, so sure knows what it takes to rock a dancefloor. "Flowerhead" was originally released in 2010 on her own Power Plant imprint and now gets a reprise by an all star cast. Starting off with another one of the city's leading stars; Panorama Bar resident Cassy, who provides a high octane rendition fuelled by some powerful arpeggios. The city's reigning queen of rolling house grooves Dana Ruh provides a very functional version, aimed for for DJ use as always. Finally, La Fleur herself delivers a a "2016 rework" to commemorate 10 years since the track's release: a true milestone in a very successful career thus far.
