Breathe Then Yield
Breathe Then Yield - (4:09) 119 BPM Hot
Released In Layers - (3:54) 95 BPM
Spread On Thick - (5:14) 126 BPM
Review: Throughout a music career nigh on two decades, Jonathan James aka Titeknots has released on tastemaker labels such as Ninja Tune, Tru Thoughts, Sony, Wah Wah 45s and Boogie Angst. He returns to his very own Press Something Play Something imprint with the Breathe Then Yield EP, featuring the sublime sunset balearica of "Released In Layers" which is the perfect serving of downbeat chill-out, followed by the utterly emotive and lo-slung groove of "Spread On Thick" which goes poolside for some fun in the sun.

You Nowhere
You Nowhere - (3:51) 61 BPM Hot
Up To Business - (3:40) 98 BPM
Review: With early support coming from tastemakers such as from Monki, Special Request, Mano Le Tough, Tom Trago and Jody Wisternoff, British producer Titeknots' latest offering on for Press Something Play Something comes right on time, in anticipation of the forthcoming summer season. This follow up January's "Up To Something" is an equally terrific serving of balearic house, with the result being "You Nowhere". It's the perfect beachfront musical accompaniment for watching the sunset, while another serving of immaculate beat programming for sunshine people comes in the form of the mesmerising title track up next.

Time Mending Time Again - (4:29) 119 BPM Hot
Hopping Greens - (6:20) 120 BPM
Review: Since parting company with Tru Thoughts in 2014, Titeknots has been on an upward trajectory. These days, there's plenty of interest in his regular missives on Press Something Play Something, with this first single of 2018 being particularly keenly anticipated. You'll struggle to find a bolder slice of summery house than "More Delicate", which sees bright and breezy acoustic guitar melodies and kaleidoscopic chords rise above a crunchy, European style deep house groove. It's something of a melodious rush from start to finish and should get plenty of plays this summer. Elsewhere, "Time Mending Time Again" melds sweeping, disco style orchestration with a snappy, breakbeat-driven rhythm track, while "Hopping Greens" is a lusciously loved-up piano house romp for sweaty afternoons and sultry sunsets.

Moments Passing By/Talk Amongst Yourselves
Moments Passing By - (5:29) 123 BPM
Talk Amongst Yourselves - (4:26) 115 BPM Hot
Played by: Kraak & Smaak
Review: Brighton based Titeknots is back. On offer here are two classic house jams worthy of anyone's attention. First up "Moments Passing By" is the kind of rusty and dusted down deepness with hip-hop style production style values that will appeal to fans of Berlin's Money $ex sound. Next up is the sexy and uplifting nu-disco jam "Talk Amongst Yourselves" which is just as slo-mo and lo-slung as you like it, but with a boogie influence. Released on the producer's own Press Something Play Something imprint which is really doing the business at the moment if we do say so ourselves.

Mustard Flower
Mustard Flower - (4:58) 119 BPM Hot
Help Out When You Can - (5:12) 125 BPM
Played by: Titeknots
Review: Brighton's Titeknots makes house music for dancers, not head nodders and he's is back with another fine release on Press Something Play Something Records. "Mustard Flower" sees the budding producer merge deep house and country/folk music with ease in a blissful and bittersweet fashion while the emotive and life affirming vibes continue (in more soulful fashion) on the glorious "Help Out When You Can" which features a wonderful Kelley Polar style symphony section backing its tight arrangement. After emerging in 2014 on UK label Tru Thoughts, this guy's music has just gotten better and better in recent times.

Sign Your Name/Dancers Really Up/Don't Be Surprised
Sign Your Name - (6:22) 122 BPM
Dancers Really Up - (5:26) 120 BPM
Don't Be Surprised - (6:20) 124 BPM
Sign Your Name (Murder He Wrote remix) - (5:52) 126 BPM Hot
Review: Since UK producer Titeknots found his demos being adopted by Tru Thoughts in 2013 he hasn't looked back. Here he presents an EP of 'widescreen warmers'. The title track begins with a crackly vinyl sample and gentle synth washes before bursting into a joyous soulful summer anthem. "Dancers Up" incorporates his love of hip-hop into the mix, with luxuriant keyboard textures and low-slung percussion. Finally "Don't' Be Surprised" closes with warped and woozy jazz loops and cascading pianos resulting in true beat-fuelled delirium. The title track is also tackled by Murder He Wrote, resulting in some dreamy peak time action.

Sparks And Smoke/In Trouble
Sparks And Smoke - (4:29) 124 BPM
In Trouble - (6:34) 122 BPM Hot
Sparks And Smoke (radio edit) - (3:19) 124 BPM
In Trouble (radio edit) - (3:25) 122 BPM
Review: Always dismissing his achievements with a shrug is Titeknots, yet here's yet another example of his considerable talent. Beginning with a tropical beat and a quirky recorder melody, "Sparks An Smoke" soon opens out into a strikingly lush orchestrated stunner. "In Trouble" meanwhile, recalls classic soul and booming house parties. One to watch.

Buzzard Walk/Lights Down, Move Close

Lights Down, Move Close - (5:40) 110 BPM
Buzzard Walk (radio edit) - (3:29) 124 BPM
Review: Brighton's Titeknots is a producer with an irreverent attitude to his rising popularity (he claims to be busy not working on his album). He surely is though, and here are two more examples of non-productivity - the super sophisticated production of the elegantly orchestrated "Buzzard Walk" and the warm, layered dream-house of "Lights Down, Move Closer".
