Review: With a career that spans back to the mid-90s, if anyone can step up to Purple's Purpleized artist series it's D'Attis. Compiling tracks that date as far back as 1998 (his quintessentially soulful rub of Jamie Lewis's "For You"), the album acts as an impeccable audio CV while plotting the development of house music in the process. Styles and sounds come in myriad forms from the bulbous bass minimalism of his "Once Again" remix to his Latin-licked sunset sizzles "Circolo Cubano". A worthy addition for both completists and those who've only just got acquainted with the D'Attis style.

Review: Jamie Lewis's Purple Music label can usually be relied upon to provide high quality material that sits somewhere between sunlit deep house, classic soulful house, smooth tech-house and Latin-influenced bumpers. That's exactly what you get on this expansive ninth compilation of label highlights. There's plenty to enjoy, from the classic disco-house shimmer of House Device's "Love Me (Back to 54)" and MK-influenced "The World Changes" by A&M, to the deluxe soulful disco-house of Harley & Muscle's "Then Came To You" (featuring the classic tones of former MAW vocalist India), and the carnival shuffle of Dario D'Attis' "Tres Rosas".

Review: Nightrhymes are a veteran Italian house music production trio. This EP is aimed directly at the dancefleoor, and as such, the title track is a slice of straight up slamming hip-house with its tongue firmly in cheek. The accompanying dub mix is still retro, but a bit more of a restrained and classier affair. Finally the New York is a hypnotic workout with a sax sample reminiscent of vintage Bobby Konders productions.
