Review: New York's Purple Tape Pedigree has chosen to focus on quality rather than output; that's their winning model and we're very much bought into it. Since 2009, the label have only released nine EPs, but they've all been absolute class, and have always been a fresh, provocative addition to the electronic world. This time they come through with the promising newcomer N-Prolenta, who delivers five eerie and abstract slices of cerebral bass. "Rush (A Humour)" kicks off what quickly unravels into a doomed-out mixture of noise and bottom-heavy beats, with "Brief/Denise, Beside Herself" picking up on the rhythm and injecting progressively more movement into the equation. "Query As Prayer" is a tangled web of harsh sonics and melting drums, whereas "Kola's Lemma" is a placid wave of beatless abstraction, followed by the R&B power electronics of "Scream Pa Mi (For @Deezius and Kola)". This is one for those who like their tunes wild and out into the leftfield.

Review: Wwwings is the collaborative project of Lit Internet, Lit Daw and Lit Eyne, hence the three w's and the significant injection of pounding bass weight. The trio rack up a proper storm on the hazardous bass storm that is "Chimera", which is swiftly followed by the house-bass hybrid that is "Wyvern" - a tune powered by heavy infusions of noise and dread. There's four remixes thereafter: Geng & Bobby Johnson wreck havoc on the distorted swings and gabba drums of "ZMEY", Eaves' version of "Chimera" is murky and comparatively lo-fi, while Endgame's remix of the same tune is propelled forwards by a rolling percussion, and this Purple Tape Pedigree EP is rounded off by Letta's deep and mystical version of "Wyvern". Review: Liminal Sounds associate Copout bursts through Purple Tape Pedigree like a man with a mission...and with four devastating firebombs that cover all sorts of bass spectrums. "Helix" opens with a pseudo grime swagger, only to be swallowed whole by the more electrifying industrial weight of "Stressed". "Fallen" is pure UK bass, a tune that refuses to find any one genre and instead shifts and morphs continuously; this is followed by the eerie presence that is "Enough", a rather foreboding sort of tune that only the heads will appreciate on the dance floor.

Review: Although Celestial Trax hails from the belly of NYC, the artist was first picked up by London's infamous Rinse a while ago, and now by the young and bold Purple Tape Pedigree. It's no surprise, however, as a tune like "Together" stands alone in terms of originality, and is a thoroughly refreshing slice of bass-weight for those looking for their next fix. "Bleed Wiv Me" is softer in terms of melodies but the cut still hits hard with its slicing drums, while "Secrets" heads down the surrealist path thanks to its stop-start glitch-beats, and "Bodily" finishes on an utterly beatless and sinister choir of church voices. Wild and fresh.
