Review: We rather enjoyed Maajo's 2016 debut album Tropic of Tulli, a vibrant and colourful set that gleefully joined the dots between Afrobeat, disco and deep house. On their first EP of original music in over two years, they explore similar sonic territory, brilliantly wrapping Tony Allen-meets-Africaine 808 style drums and toasty bnass in woozy deep house chords, jungle sounds and Afrobeat guitars on "Defo", before serving up a wonderfully loose, loved up and sun-kissed chunk of tropical deepness that should appeal to all those who dig the work of On The Corner Records. Trevor Deep Jr. provides a wonderful "Reconstruction" of "Defo", re-casting it as a hazy, locked-in chunk of dub-house brilliance.
