Review: Sao Paulo label return to Tropiculo, last year's triumphant album from Felipe Sa for a digital single featuring two fine remixes. Bringing a distinctly contemporary approach to the Brazilian sound, the Rio De Janeiro-based producer's album was ripe for reinterpretation and Alma Negra and Tiago both stamp their own personality on their chosen tracks. Swiss trio Alma Negra are up first, transforming "Mueava" from its lean percussive origin into a thick-set jacking house cut that wouldn't sound out of place on Comeme, whilst Lux resident and all round Lisbon legend Tiago turns in a trippy remix of "Sinenkosi Poltergeist".
Review: Christophe has slowly been gaining a profile through releases on Futureboogie Recordings and Hypercolour, and now the artist delivers a three-track EP with a healthy bevvy of remixers. The originals see skipping xylophone percussion ("Move Your Body, Dance With Me") pitched against euphoric synths ("Outlaw) to chiming Detroit house sessions ("Over"). Remix-wise, Zopelar shuttles deep into hyperspace with a remix of the former while ROTCIV tastefully filters in some Eurotrance vibes in the latter. For some slamming warehouse disco check Pejota Fernades' remix of "Outlaw" remix, and for a subtle touch of samba there's Felipe's remix.
Review: Brazilian Endrie is only in his infancy production-wise, but has already provided deep house lovers with some suitably sunny sounds via a solid debut release on Urban Dance. This second release continues that theme, with "Volta" in particular offering a languid blend of reliable bottom-end thump, smart percussion and groovy instrumentation (drifting accordions anyone?). While "Brainless Dub Rhodes" follows a similar path, the original is surpassed by a delightful slo-mo disco/house rub from Soundcloud gurus Irregular Disco Workers. There's also a hypnotic, late-night wiggler of a bonus cut, "Trip On", which gives the EP some much-needed 4am flavour.
