Review: Contemporary disco with the funk and soul in full effect is the order of the day on this V/A offering from Ravanelli Disco Club. Vigi's opening 'Loving You' comes from the more discofied end of the deep house and garage spectrum and should be a small-hours cert, after which comes Kousto's 'Save My Soul', which marries rolling tribal drums to a looped soulful male vocal, and as such should work on soul and soulful house floors alike. It's then time to get up, stand up as Sauco's aptly-titled 'Twisted Funk' takes us into struttier territory, before finally Donny Rotten brings the 70s-inspired nu-disco vibes with 'Her Way'.
Review: On the label's 11th release, the reliable Ravenelli Disco Club stable has offered-up a double header featuring a track apiece (with accompanying remixes) from rising stars Retromigration and Nephews. The former steps up first with 'Jeffa', a deliciously loose, languid and summery chunk of jazz/deep house fusion in which warming, chunky, club-ready grooves come peppered with snaking sax, fluid pianos and colourful jazz-funk synth sounds. Ron Basejam (AKA Crazy P's Jim Baron) serves up a sparkly, slap-bass-sporting take on the same track that drags it firmly into 'organic nu-disco' territory. Nephews' 'Reingalaxed', meanwhile, is a dustier and woozier chunk of jazz-fired deep house loveliness, which Razor N Tape co-founder JKriv then turns into an even dubbier and hazier chunk of peak-time Latin house deepness.

Review: A pleasing variety of styles on offer on this latest offering from Brazil's Rafael Cancian, who for once steps away from his own About Disco label to do the do, instead, for Marseilles-based Ravanelli Disco Club. Retro 70s vibes are the order of the day on 'The Music Box' itself, before 'Black Octopus' shifts us a few years along the musical timeline as it looks to 80s boogie and electrofunk for inspiration. Then the dense 'Katayef' adds hints of African and Latin sounds - very Loft-y, this one - before 'Isola Delle Rose' plays us out on a more laidback, jazz-funk leaning tip.

Review: For their fifth release, the Marseille-based Ravanelli Disco Club crew has turned to the combined talents of Scruscru last seen and heard on Nomada Records and Jehan (a regular contributor to the always on-point Star Creature label). Title track "Teuf De Ouf" is giddily cheery and sees the pair wrap warm Rhodes stabs and jazzy horn samples around a bustling groove that arguably owes a debt to the jazz-house era work of St Germain. Joe Corti weighs in with the obligatory remix, offering up a smoother and chunkier deep house version that makes much more use of twinkly electric piano sounds. Elsewhere, "Jive Y'all" is a warm, sample-heavy fusion of jazz-funk sounds and disco-powered house grooves, while "Lawka Chudes" is a deeper take on the pair's favoured jazzy house sound.
Review: We may not be able to gather to dance outdoors under a blazing sun or a blanket of stars, but there's no harm in a little musical daydreaming. That's what the latest multi-artist Ravenelli Disco Club release is all about: summery escapism that comes with a big dollop of rush-inducing disco release. Ethyene sets the tone with the colourful boogie-house fusion of "Let Love" - all twinkling synth motifs, echoing percussion hits, thickset grooves and hazy vocal samples - before Carlo raises the temperature via some jazzy deep house heaviness in the vein of Derrick Carter's "boompty" era. Over on side B, Hotmood's "Magical Flight" is a surging, string-drenched disco-house roller, while Rees' "The Way You Mood" is a tooled-up take on what sounds like a classic Philadelphia International cut.
