Review: Last month Instag8 was going 'Psycho' on Drum Lab. The month before he was begging we listened to him on Kevlar. Now he's taken our brain to other 'Dimensions' on this new Raw Motion tear-up. 'Crazy' sets the tone with its rattling Serum style snares and curmudgeonly basses while other highlights include the rough and the smooth of the feel-heavy 'My Love' and the well-restrained soul, grit and depth of the finale 'Torn Apart'. Pay close to attention to the twilight strikes of the title, too. Heavyw8.

Review: Someone fetch this man a ladder! Jedi needs to get higher and he's paying us in absolute fire tunes. One of his most generous EPs in quite some time, over six tracks the artist spreads his wings across the spectrum; 'Lay You Out' is Program-style bubbler with a fine balance of emotion and grit, the mischievously-titled 'Piss On Your Ashes' is a hurricane of jump-up grizzles and growls while the title track rips up the dance like some turn-of-the-century D*Minds Bristol effort. And that's only 50% of the rawness on display here. Bun the ladder, this man deserves a cherry picker.

Burn 'Em Up/Mayday
Burn 'em Up - (4:24) 175 BPM Hot
Mayday - (4:23) 175 BPM
Review: Falco is one of the best recent talents to emerge from the current smorgasbord that is the D&B scene, his rough and ready sound blends jump up currents with jungle stutters and it's ideal for any situation. This single carries on that tradition over on Raw Motion and blimey, it's pretty damn good. 'Burn Em Up' is our favourite, with a hypnotic synth line that grounds its cracking percussive knocks within a framework of bassy shudders and groaning sweeps. It's a proper sound, and the flip, 'Mayday', amps up the pressure with its glitchy grates and wobbly sub bass. Come on.

Review: Raw Motion puts out music that, unsurprisingly, is raw in motion and powerful in its flow, and that's the mission statement that Instag8 is abiding by on this one, a large six-track EP that's larger than life from start to finish. It kicks off with the title tune, 'Signals', with a deeply suspenseful intro that reminds us slightly of a movie trailer, before its spins out into acidic notes and a flowing, explosive arrangement powered by punching, gusty drums. The other highlight of the release is 'SNIFF', which also packs a superbly tight introduction full of tumbling breaks and eerie pads, which bolt out the stable on the drop and transform into something flowing, expertly crafted and club ready to the extreme. Unmissable.

JEDI & PET'S NEED - "Keyak" (JEDI Drum And Bass remix) - (4:26) 175 BPM Hot
Review: Jedi is one of the most consistent jump-up producers around and has been pumping out the venom across a load of labels, including Dubstomp2Bass and more, for several years now. He's back with this five-tracker on Raw Motion and it's Jedi at his best, stretching his legs out in dastardly style across pounding beats and just letting loose with every fibre of his creative being. We especially love the sampling on 'Is It True', which acts as a perfect backdrop to the ensuing steppy madness, with groaning stabs peppering the arrangement and forming a formidable club-ready weapon. The knives stay out on 'Say It', whilst title tune 'Break You' combines stabbing force with wobblier sounds to great effect. Naughty.

JEDI & MC J.O.K - "Stranger Things" - (4:23) 175 BPM
Review: Instigation across the nation; Instag8 and Colchester veteran MC J.O.K tag up for a clutch of cold hard truths on Raw Motion. "Spark It" lights the fire with dreamy chords then the grottiest intro this side of the sewage works. It's followed by plenty more vitriolic funk: "Bomb Threat" is a heavy pressure alien stepper, "Trust Me" is much more spaced out, warped and slinky while Jedi joins the fray for the finale cut "Stranger Things", a track so dramatic and dark it'll have you heading for the upside down before you can say Demogorgon.

Review: Instag8's Deeper EP on Raw Motion isn't one of those releases for people who like to sit back, sip on a mug of matured whisky and debate the stylistic evolution of music. It's not about pretention, it's about having a good time and for that purpose it's ideally suited. Six tracks full of dancefloor vigour, Instag8 has achieved his presumed goal of making music that'll get people moving. 'Deeper' has that Souped Up-esque forcefulness to its basslines, that torn, ripping feel that only a proper foghorn will get you; 'Get Through This' hits that suspense in the build perfectly, leading in the snapping drums underneath something very special.

Tic Tac Toe - (4:35) 175 BPM Hot
Review: Monss is over on Raw Motion and with this single takes you on a rough and ready journey through rolling D&B, one that's characterised by its reliance on the best elements of the older school of 170 sonics: big drum hits, creative sampling and a complete lack of pretentiousness or over-engineering. 'Tic Tac Toe' is exactly that and we love the spoken sample that rolls out over the whole tune, whilst 'Who We Are' finishes things off in style as well. Wicked.

Goliath - (4:23) 175 BPM Hot
Review: Drawing upon the influences of historical jungle and recent trend, Niterider is on Raw Motion for a full-throated four-tracker that kicks off with title track 'Give A Signal', a gently weighted wobbler that pushes on every corner of the range. 'Crushed Cigars' and 'Double Cup' have clear Kings of the Rollers vibes, with juddering bass pulses and that recognizable sense of hardware-based rawness. This release has overtones of Manchester and undertones of the South - proper UK underground stuff that's wickedly produced with a clearly keen ear for the sound of the moment.
