Review: The Re-Wired Beatz team have presented us with a gem on this one as Top Dolla delivers a weighty seven track expanse. We begin with the album lead 'Monster', a metallic screamer, driven by super punchy drum processing and tap dancing synthesizer maneuvers to create a real dancefloor weapon. Next, the intensity rises along the sharpened synthesizer smashes of 'Detox' and more squelchy sound design of 'Paparazzi', before 'Bio Hazard' combines metallic percussion-driven melodies with gnarly bass grinds below for a real system crusher. From here, 'L.F.O' embraces a much more traditional, LFO-style bassline design, with the reesey madness of 'Instructions' and constantly shifting synth designs of 'Archadollagist' bringing us to a high energy close. What a project this is!
Review: You don't get more old school than ancient civilizations but you don't get more new school than the rolling, heavyweight sounds... Now there's a conundrum for you to chew over while you take in the feels of Top Dolla's biggest, most comprehensive release since last year's album All Or Nothing. Highlights include the cyclone style bassline and roller vibes of "Get Up Off Your Feet", the devilish drones of "Moby Dick" and the total fire carnage of "Good Friday". Riddled with drum switches, gnarly basses and a sudden neuro twist in the breakdown, it's a perfect way to end an almighty EP. Get civilised!
Review: Frequently merking up the tempos and genres, for his label debut on Top Dolla's Re-Wired Beatz, Brizzle Hizzle wobblesmith goes fully D&B... And every track is a peaktime head-popper. "Fully Strapped" eases us in with a paranoid arpeggio before dropping into a coarse sandpaper drop that refuses to quit. "Bonus Point" goes straight for the jugular with a higher-end riff that nags with hook insistency and playful air of funk. Finally "Shut Up" shows Hizzle's more metallic side with a bassline that sounds like a giant spring pinging around a steel drum in slow-motion. Intense.
