Review: Crosstown Rebels sublabel RebelLION gears up Volume 4 of its SOULS series by presenting four uptempo, deep and moody Burning Man wares. With trippy vocals at play throughout the four tracks here, it's easy to imagine these numbers going down well somewhere in a tech house Texan desert. The deepest of all cuts goes to OMRI with dat "Funk Rhythm" which sits in contrast to the dub Italo tinges of MIMI X FY & Estray's "Robotic Mode". For something slightly more Detroit influenced check out Vini Pastor's "Hypnotized" next to the distorted Roland percussion and hardcore acid of Hoomance & Mili's "Casa Mama".

Review: Toronto-based DJ/producer Mustafa Ismaeel returns to Crosstown Rebels sub-label Rebellion with a trio of groovy and emotional house tracks on his 'Groove You' EP. Collaborating with some respected names, he showcases his versatile and refined sound that blends deep, tech and progressive elements. The title track is a hypnotic roller with gritty claps, rich bass and warm pads, topped with a steamy vocal that adds intensity and sensuality. "Twisted Mind" features New Zealand's Dilby and Shar, delivering a deep house vibe with supple drums, soulful vocals and subtle melodies. "Nothingness" closes the EP with Enamour, and creates a late-night atmosphere with chunky beats, lush chords and a seductive sax motif.

Review: GruuvElement, a talented DJ/producer originally from Romania and now based in London, has been making waves with his stripped-back, crisp productions in the percussive-driven house music genre. He has worked with various labels such as Crosstown Rebels, Solid Grooves Raw, Deeperfect, MUSE, and VIVa, showcasing his evolving sound. His latest project is a collaboration with Manolaco, a Roush talent, on Clarisse Records for their 'The Way You Love Me' EP, released under Damian Lazarus' Rebellion imprint. The EP features three smooth collaborations, with the title track 'The Way You Love Me' designed for quality dancefloors and real house lovers. The resonant vocals, delicate Balearic drums, and a killer bassline quickly capture listeners' attention and make the track's infectious groove hard to resist. Review: Following months of solitude away from touring, disconnected from technology and returning to nature, Frenchman YokoO went back to the studio inspired to create new music that was different to what he had been known for. This Jivanmuktih EP for Diynamic offshoot Rebellion showcases the continuation of his sonic explorations, and a transition further into his creative self. Indeed tracks like "Higher State" are quite the departure from what we're used to on this sublime dub house journey, while the bass driven minimal house of "Spiritus Sexualem" is a collaboration with Atlanta-based Bobi Stevkobski. Finally, rest assured the title track is more reminiscent of his usual work, on this dreamy and evocative deep house journey that is perfect for a Sunday afternoon open air.

Review: Four irresistible orders to dance here, coming courtesy of Israeli producer Adam Tenenbaum AKA Adam Ten, and brought to you by LA-based Crosstown Rebels sub-label Rebellion. 'We Move' is a mid-paced throbber centred around a fat, squelching bass synth and a "we move" female vocal, 'Mita In Reverse' is a low-slung machine funker with exotic, chopped-up fem vox, 'The Queen' stirs deep, tech, prog and disco house influences into one surefire 3am groover while 'Hamakor' closes the EP on a tuffer, struttier note. The EP as a whole has a far greater funk sensibility than most in its field, and as such deserves checking immediately.

Review: Since making his debut on Defected's DFTD offshoot via the popular "Baby Sing a Song EP" back in 2017, Danny Minchella AKA Rogue D has gone on to release music on a number of high-profile labels, most notably Hot Creations. Here he offers up his second single on long-serving Crosstown Rebels offshoot Rebellion. The headline attraction is undoubtedly "Burning", a boisterous, sweaty and breathless chunk of low-slung house built around minor-key electric piano stabs, a restless dub disco bassline and impassioned vocal samples from an old disco-funk gem. Elsewhere, "Coming Home" is another driving, low-slung disco-punk-goes-disco-house treat, while "Nights" is a glassy-eyed, suitably celebratory disco-house number.

Review: Caracas-based Adonis Rivera is beginning to establish himself as one of the country's leading electronic musicians. Review: Legend of the New York City dance music scene Joeski is back on Damian Lazarus' Rebellion, with yet more typically rhythm heavy tech house work outs on this fittingly titled new EP. He explains how he and vocalist Rachel shared a clear vision of creating a track to personify the sound of the drum, experimenting in the studio until they achieved the eerie vibe they wanted. "Let The Drum Speak!" is an evocative and mesmerising cut that utilises sublime syncopation in various layers, and processed with incredible dub delay effects and splashes of white noise for dramatic effect. Prepare to reach near tribal moments on this one! This is supported by additional cuts such as the moody and ultra deep "As We Dance" and the darkly bass-driven "Expressions In Dub Love" which is perfect for the afterhours.

Review: Germany's Nico Stojan, an alumnus of labels such as Ou?e, Connaisseur and Suara, teams up with the mysterious Timujina? here to produce three tracks that come from the proggier end of the deep house spectrum. 'Oktoberfest' tops an ominous growling bassline with a spoken female vocal in a language we can't actually identify, augmented by weird 'n' wibbly synth sounds. The midtempo 'Satsang' is a more melodic affair, redolent of Balearic prog of yesteryear with its plainitive Spanish guitars, while 'High Altitude' is another moody, proggy chugger that stands out for its Middle Eastern-sounding female vocal.

Review: Crosstown Rebels sublabel Rebellion are back with some late night dancefloor drama courtesy of up and coming Belgian producer and DJ Sebastien V. He has had previous releases on Dirtybird and parent label Crosstown Rebels - so he is really on a roll. From the brooding and melodic "Transe", the deep and slinky tech house of "Only One" and the streamlined dub version naturally entitled "One One" (dub), this young Belgian is one ascendant producer to watch moving forward into 2018.

Review: Rowee is prolific Italian DJ and producer Leonardo Gonnelli. Fresh from his release on Seth Troxler's Play it Say it imprint and nominated in the category of Best Track at Spain's Vicious Music Awards, Gonnelli has demonstrated exceptional talent as a DJ whilst playing at worldwide events such as the legendary Space Miami, Pacha Buenos Aires, BPM Mexico, Dockyard Festival (ADE) in Amsterdam and Sonar. He follows up a previous release for the label earlier in 2017 with "Dharmony", a sublime and hypnotic progressive house journey featuring ethereal pads, mesmerising bell melodies and tightly programmed rhythms. Next offering "Memento" features the haunting vocals of KnowKontrol and picks up the pace a bit more on this slinky tech house cut optimized for proper dancefloor drama - when they turn the lights down low.

Review: Crosstown Rebels diffusion label Rebellion are back with Dance Spirit; two dudes from Los Angeles named Reagan and Chris who have previously flaunted their wares on the likes of Mr C's Superfreq, Supernature and Maison d'etre. On "One For The Heads" it's definitely a lo-slung affair as is typical of Damian Lazarus' 'other' label. Its slowed down tribal groove and Amazonian aesthetics making for some real drifting on the dancefloor style business. "Mind Of Man" goes for some deep acid style, with emotive pads and soothing male vocals atop making a really enticing track. Finally, "Numbers Don't Lie" is undoubtedly the most uptempo song on offer; this brooding and slinky tech house cut is very much suited to the late night.

Review: Crosstown Rebels sub label returns with a new one by Lum from Mexico. The title track ?Urpillay? and later on ?Balaxal? are proggy, slow jams from outer space and perfect to set the mood during the warm up. The Bedouin remix of said track remains on the same vibe but gives it a more uptempo reshape which works well. ?Plegaria? is a deep and slow afterhours jam; you've just gotta hear the trumpet solo on this one. Finally ?Canto De La Terria? introduces and mysterious and esoteric vibe back into the fold complete with pan pipes and spiritual vocal chants, perfect for transcendental moments on the dancefloor!

Review: The inspiration from Dubble D's latest release comes from a source that has been mined many times in house music - the church. Over tight claps and a lean funk guitar riff, the UK producer co-opts a sassy vocalist to discuss 'growing up in the church of Christ'. In case Dubble D felt that he was in danger of alienating his atheist fans, the vocalist then delivers a more secular message that 'in honour of the love for the people. . . we're going to lay it down... we gotta give love... '. Ashley Beedle's re-version sees the house veteran add some upbeat disco vibes and make the most of the guitar funk line.
