Review: Venetian DJ and producer Francesco Sperotto aka Kaysand got his start with Grammophono,a deep house band in which he was the singer/songwriter and drummer. On another fine EP for the brilliant Italian imprint Rebirth, he teams up with Blue Monday for the deep down and dirty electro house of "Stop" featuring gritty synth arpeggios, dusty drums and sleazy vocals. Amsterdam prankster San Proper's "Play Pause Eject remix" gets more funky, dusty and generally lo-slung on this great rendition while the legendary Swayzak's version is an epic hypnotic techno journey over its full 13 minutes duration.

Review: What better way to celebrate a decade in business than by getting Chicago deep house legend Larry Heard to select and mix a double-disc compilation of label highlights? Hats off, then, to Rebirth, who managed to persuade Mr Fingers himself to deliver his first commercially available DJ mix. As you'd expect from both label and DJ, it's a wonderfully atmospheric and melodious affair, with Heard selecting and blending emotion-rich tracks and mixes from Chromatic Filters, Bocca Grande, NuFrequency, Tevo Howard, Motor City Drum Ensemble and James Teej. The first disc, in which Heard races through 28 tracks in just over 70 minutes, is particularly memorable.

Review: UK-based Icelander ILO has a number of underground hits to his name, including a killer rework of New Musik's "Warp", and a notable revision of Grace Jones' classic "Private Life". Here he concentrates on his own production, delivering a trio of tracks tailor-made for dark warehouses, tiny sweatboxes, and illicit rave-ups. First up is the deliciously bass-heavy, early '90s-influenced bump of "Put Of A Jack On It", where sampled, delay-laden vocals weave their way around fizzing percussion and vintage riffs. He delves deeper on the woozy, sleazy and hypnotic "Prayer", before rounding off a fine EP with the thunderous acid bass, hissing Detroit techno cymbals and occasional floatation tank chords of "Hiddenlane".

Review: The rising Parisian duo who have previously released on labels like My Favourite Robot and Rework's Loveyeah now appear on Italy's Rebirth. "On The Loose" is a cut of sultry, late night deep house with jazz inflections reminiscent of Moodymann's Black Mahogani. Elbi's vocals add a gorgeous touch too. It gets three remixes by the deep house don himself, no not Moodymann, rather Larry Heard! The "Trybalambient mix" is a dark journey track with tribal drums and immersive layers of pads and strings. Naturally, the "Trybalambient instrumental" forgoes Elbi's vocals and the "Teknospheric Mix" nails the sound more typical of Heard but uses a lot of the original source material such as rich grand piano notes and lush strings.

Review: Italian producer Maurizio "Morris T" Terzi has enjoyed a long - if stop-start - career, having released his first 12" way back in 2001. Even so, "Rolling In The Deep" is his first outing for five years. It sees the Brescia-based producer doffing a cap to early '90s Italian house and the expansive musicality of Frankie Knuckles. The original version is bold and attractive, with tough, chunky beats and a deep bassline underpinning bold piano bursts and attractive synthesizer flourishes. Tiger Stripes provides the obligatory remix, turning Terzi's original into deep, tech-tinged roller blessed with attractive steel drum melodies and rich Rhodes chords.
