Review: Drew's Theory, clearly, is that 'that' herb is the perfect inspiration to get into 'that' headspace. You could almost hear the lighter going off in the background. The original's dark and brooding cruise through a stoned state of mind certainly sets the scene, with that sinister bass line just lurking in the background. Wasteman, obviously, sounds like the perfect man for the remix duties, and gives it a well executed dub flavour, keeping the chilled vibes intact. Finally B-side "Global" impressively calibrates the flavour of both previous tracks, merging his dark hip hops beats with a well rolled dub groove. Paranoid vibes abound!

Review: Fresh from his appearance on Samurai's awesome Scope collection, New Zealand dubstep maestro RQ unravels two more tightly knit space sessions. "Elephant" lives up to its name; powerful and natural, it slowly prowls the vast dubstep plains, trampling anything its path with its sturdy halfstep and unavoidable bass pressure. "Mono Cult" takes us deep into RQ's darkest psyche with a demonic, death-praising spoken word vocal and a heady weave of dubbed out percussion. Naughtiness abounds...

Review: D Operation Drop are firing on all cylinders right now with current killer releases on the likes of Tuba, NoMad and now Redshift. The title track inspires memories of early Tricky material thanks to its moody spoken word vocal, spat carefully over stuttering, molten bass licks. "Treezen" is a much more percussive affair as a whole orchestra of hand drums and shakers fuse to paint a demonstratively dark picture. "Combine" brings us to a techno-induced climax as the riddim leans heavily on a thundering kicks and yet more bright, tight percussive elements. Fans of Icicle's material will be all over this.

Review: Known for his deeper spacious dub flavours, here Sepia switches for something altogether more forthright. Powered by swinging breakbeats and bulbous sub-soaked bassline, "Outbreak" isn't dissimilar to an old Bassbin Twin record and it comes with cool chopped up vocal hits a la Dirtybird. "Cornered" takes us back into Sepia's darker, slimier dungeon. Boasting some interesting dynamics around the kick drum, there's still plenty of energy in his depths.

Review: North Welsh producer Feonix is pushing dubstep to its very extremes with this wonderfully dynamic ode to archaic bone-bashing riddims. Clicking and whistling through myriad found sounds, this is truly unique (a term that really can't be used very often in such an over crowded scene). "Night Creatures" is equally as immersive with breathy pads, heartbeat kicks and spacious clicks that build into an abyss-level sub drop and funky - if a little warped - two-step. One (Jurassic) step beyond...

Review: Gone tribal recently? Well now's the time! "Orpheus Death" is as shamanic as dubstep gets thanks to some thundering voodoo drumwork. Teetering into the realms of hard techno, its minimal tub-thumping and rich low-end fumes make it one of the most visceral cuts Redshift have ever released. "Yurei" takes us down a peg or two with a more classically deep dubstep technique while still offering heaps of energy and attitude in the dynamics and far-away eastern elements.

Review: Contemplative steppery from Vaun as he follows up his debut earlier this year with yet another refreshingly deep-yet-vibrant double tracker. "Comatose" opens with pianos so striking you could be convinced you're about to chow down on a nice slice of classical. Then the brief-but-bold vocal sample slips in and brings a dream-like bassline with it. The perfect balance of uplifting and moody, Vaun's on the money right here. "Colourful" lives up to its name with spine-tingling pads, rushes and well crafted percussive elements all gelling to create a chilled track that still packs a punch.
