Review: Legendary UK label Renaissance returns this week with an EP by rising Spanish producer Vita V - the Sorioneku EP. It features the vocal-centered title track which is a deep and mesmersing affair, with fellow countryman EdOne serving up a bass-driven tech house remix up next. "Eparina" increases the intensity, aimed squarely at the pre-peak time dancefloor with it too getting reworked, this time by Tel Aviv-based Dor Reuveni & Takiru (aka Guy Shaked) who take the track into sublime melodic house territory. Elsewhere, two more originals await you in the form of "Errax" and "Boltaren" respectively which give you a dose of proper dancefloor drama.
Review: It has been a busy month for acclaimed Venezuelan producer/DJ Fur Coat, what with the release of the latest various artists compilation 'Odd Echoes Vol.4' on his Oddity imprint (which featured a wonderful collaboration with Julian Wassermann) and now he's back on the legendary Renaissance imprint here with The Storm EP. Carrying on with the same sonic aesthetic as heard on the impressive 'Polyphony' full length (which appeared on the label last year) experience the deep, slinky and utterly hypnotic groove of "The Mist" followed by the evocative bliss of ambient house epic "Eye Of The Storm" (feat Delhia De France). This track receives a series of impressive reworks equally worthy of your attention, such as Berliner Nico Stojan's glassy-eyed and bittersweet perspective, followed by MODEM's evocative version venturing into breakbeat electronica territory.
