Review: Engh is a newcomer, but on Snurrbass, he follows in a fine Norwegian tradition. Issued on Prins Thomas' label, this four-tracker is at the tougher end of the sound, with "Deva" based on metallic beats and a spiky rhythm that underpins surging chords. The title track is even more linear, as Engh takes inspiration from the churning, scuffled dub of Basic Channel, while on "Linjegods", he delivers a loopy, rolling groove that resounds to noisy riffs. The only track that bears a likeness to Prins Thomas style is the deep, disco-tinged house of "Z", but the typical Norwegian flair for dance floor music underpins this whole release

Review: UK-based producer Russell contributes his second EP to the Full Pupp spin-off label. Although Rett I Fletta's general brief is disco, this release only bears a distant relationship to that sound. "One" is a tough, percussive affair, underpinned by a churning, rollicking bass. It's only a taster for the madness that subsequently unfolds; "Six" is a high-paced, disco-techno monster, similar in approach to Blacknecks, with a pulsing bass and industrial kicks at its heart. "707303" sees Russell bring the tempo back down for an acid-soaked workout, but Prins Thomas' take on "Six" keeps the high octane pressure up with a buzzing, relentless rhythm at its heart.

Review: Keita Sano's third artist album in as many years shows that he is one of the most talented new producers of rugged dance floor tracks. Released on Full Pupp offshoot label Rett I Fletta, it veers from the soaring acid-disco of "Full of Love" and "Honey" into the rhythmic machine dance of "Leave The Floor" and the shimmering Italo synths and snare rolls of "On The Floor". Whatever the Japanese producer may lose out by not focusing on a specific style, he more than compensates with through his adventurous approach. This is apparent as the eponymous album reaches a climax with "Vood" and "Sucker (Part 2)", the kind of throbbing hardware techno jams that wouldn't sound out of place on L.I.E.S.

Review: Per Martinsen aka Mental Overdrive has been involved with dance music since the very beginning, and together with colleagues like Bjorn Torkse and Biosphere, laid the foundation for Norway's legendary house / disco scene. Epilogue is his first album in four years, and showcases his freewheeling approach to production. There's the gentle chimes of "Repeat Then Repeat", the sample-heavy, mysterious disco shapes of "Bits" and the chaotic electronic funk of "1st Run" and "Shakes" . Despite making music for almost three decades, Martinsen hasn't lost the adventurous, innovative spirit that saw him pioneer house music in Norway, and the warm electronic groove of "Wormholes" will warm even the most cynical hearts.

Review: The second release on Prins Thomas' Rett I Fletta imprint - an outlet for "music for Neanderthals", according to the producer - comes from the label boss himself. It features two versions of III album closer Apne Slusa, plus two previously unheard tracks. It's notably more electronic - and pleasingly analogue in origin, too - than much of his work over the last few years, with less obvious krautrock and progressive rock influences. Highlights include a super deep and crackly interpretation of the title track from Margot, an acid-flecked space disco extension of the same cut from Thomas himself, and "Akken E Det Du Snafse", a heavy but stripped-back exercise in murky, late night techno. "Slufsa", a stripped-back beat-heavy dub of "Apne Slusa", is also superb.

Review: In the three years that Prins Thomas' techno offshoot label has been in existence, it has mainly acted as a platform for artists like Keita Sano and Mental Overdrive. Now the label boss himself appears on the label to deliver a left field take on techno. On "Apokalypso 2", the Norwegian producer drops a rolling groove and a cacophony of bells, underpinned by a surging, driving bass. The Oyvind Morken 'Trance Dance' version is more nuanced, with the bells brought to the fore and a lither rhythm deployed, but it doesn't detract from the wiry acid and insistent groove of "Apokalypso 1" or the moody swagger of the third version.

Review: It's been a busy year thus far for the godfather of Scandolearic disco Prins Thomas; a third solo album arrived as did a sprawling and self explanatory 10 Years of Full Pupp compilation. The Prins clearly likes to keep himself occupied so it's little surprise to see him add another label to the two he already runs (Full Pupp and Internasjonal) in Rett I Fletta. Blusjketuta features some all new material from the man himself with all four cuts bristling and bubbling with hardware honed aplomb; the stripped back Trommeversjon of "Blusketuta" is most definitely a "cool tool for DJ fools" as Prins Thomas himself states on the accompanying press release. Shout out to Mr Doug Lee for some fine label art work too!

Review: Your Highness may be a friend of disco king Prins Thomas, but doesn't stop him from delivering a tough and at times abrasive release. The intensity levels are at their peak from the outset with "Styxx" revolving around dense break beats, buzzing bass and dank acid lines. The title track sees the tempo slowing down and discordant drums pushed to the fore, while the acid-laced pulses of "Lancaster Raid" sees the Scandinavian producer pick up the pace. Finally, there's "Interrogation", where Your Highness delivers the most techno-focused track, a fusion of dense, metallic drums and grungy acid lines.
