Review: Well isn't this a combining of superpowers if we ever saw one. Two of techno's master producers team up to inaugurate Rhythm Assault. Germany's Martin Buttrich has been a gun for hire for almost twenty years producing everyone from Timo Maas to Loco Dice before striking out on his own ten years ago with hits such as Full Clip and Stoned Autopilot, plus starting the Desolat imprint. Canada's Mathew Jonson should need no introduction. One of techno's best live acts, a producer with the most unmistakeable sound and one of the brains behind seminal label Wagon Repair. "Synchronicity" features Jonson's haunting melodies and vocoded murmurs over Buttrich's tightly structured and infectious rhythm groove. It's one funky affair as you'd imagine; cruise control for the post peak time hours.
