Review: The latest missive on Riotvan is a special collaboration with legendary Frankfurt club-turned-label Live at Robert Johnson. The EP features five rather good tracks, each of which is a studio hook-up between artists representing the two labels. Rebedello and Roman Flugel set the ball running via top-notch trippy throb-job 'Star Stuff', before Jennifer Crouch and Chimaski join the dots between Mascara-clad new wave and sleazy Italo-disco on 'Dime'. New Hook and Perel's 'The Lambs Suffer' is a stylish, cowbell-laden chunk of electrofunk/leftfield synth-pop fusion, while Fort Romeau and Panthera Krause's 'Omnicron 8' sits somewhere between sweaty jack-tracks, EBM and dark electro-disco. Finally, Horkheimer, Peger Invasion and Gegor Habicht offer-up 'Summe Drei', a wayward new wave-meets-electro gem.

Review: 12 months on from its release, Panthera Krause is fine debut album It's a Business Doing Pleasure With You has been given the remix treatment. The line-up and variety of remixers on show is impressive, so it's no surprise to find that the resultant reworks are extremely strong. Check first Robedello's deliciously trippy take on 'Road to Arcadia', which sounds like a 21st century update of Donna Summer's 'I Feel Love', before basking in the ethereal pads, rushing melodies and throbbing grooves of Theo Kottis's revision of 'Birthday Club'. Elsewhere, Shubostar delivers a crunchy, proto-house-meets-boogie revision of 'J'ai Envie De Toi', Fargo reimagines 'Redo Rdid' as a sharp, squelchy roller, and Peter Invasion and Gregor Habicht prioritise lengthy breakdowns and warped electronics on an excellent remix of 'Sledge Hammer'.

Review: Peter Invasion & Panthera Kraus's Riotvan label bring us a two-tracker that couldn't be more redolent of 1980s Germany if it was hanging around the Bahnhof Zoo, wearing stonewashed jeans and a red, black and orange shellsuit top and worrying about nuclear war! In its Original form, 'Manipulation' is a sleazy, slow-moving synth throbber topped with a vaguely new wave-ish female vocal (in German), while Curses' remix nudges us a bit closer to proto-house territory and strips back most of the vocal in favour of a looped 'M-A-N-I-P-U-L-A-T-I-O-N" chant. For maximum enjoyment, add severe blusher, suck your cheeks in and pose under neon lighting in the rain.

Review: If you like your disco on the heavily electronic side, and leaning towards techno, then this three-track, five-mix EP from Sexy Lazer is one to check for sure. 'Fluting In Space' stands out from the Italo horde thanks to its unusual use of guess which woodwind instrument, which lends it something of a Middle Eastern air; 'Future' will grab dancers' attention with its chanted "Future! Havana" vocal, while 'Jing Jang' adds a more technoid edge. Which leads us nicely into the remixes, where you'll find Pantera Krause turning in a slightly funkier rub of 'Future' while Axel Boman reworks 'Fluting...' for weirded-out 6am techno floors.

Review: As befits a producer who has previously delivered fine EPs for both Lobster Theremin and Uncanny Valley, the music of Robert Panthera Krause is always brimming with good ideas. Happily, he's let his imagination run wild on the Stonith EP, his first release on Leipzig-based Riotvan for nearly three years. "Twerk It" is a leisurely, loved-up stroll through mildly Balearic broken house pastures, where chiming melodies, heavy sub-bass and dreamy chords add extra interest on route. The impressive "Take Me" sees him mould beatbox electro in fuzzy new deep house shapes, while "Stonith" is a cowbell-laden romp through skewed house and eccentric electro territory. In other words, it's business as usual.

Review: It's been a while since Llewellyn's last official release under that particular alias, but it's possible that you might have heard a thing or two under his Lake People moniker instead. Whatever the medium, the dude is back with his singular shade of house, this time via the Riotvan label. "The Long Run" starts by launching us in a cosmic space voyage guided by a warm crescendo of disco-friendly beats at the helm; "Again & Again" retains some of that interstellar energy except that here we're travelling in house gear, much like closing "Another Side Of You". Dreamy dance galore!

Review: Anyone who's heard any of Hard Ton's previous output (and he's been around a while, so we're guessing that's most Juno shoppers!) will know there's often a heavy 80s flava to his work. But seldom more so, perhaps, than on this latest offering, brought to you by Peter Invasion and Panthera Krause's Leipzig-based Riotvan label, which suggests a musical youth over which the likes of Soft Cell and Depeche Mode exerted some considerable influence. Nothing wrong with paying tribute to your heroes, of course, but if you're not a big fan of 80s styles then head for Jorkes' remix, which has a slightly more contemporary feel.
