Review: Classical business: things don't get much more foundational than Marvellous Caine's original IQ imprint. Home to a whole gamut of gully slingers between 1994 - 95, here the label reflects on some of the label's many original jungle and hardcore conquests. And considering the label was only in operation for two years, it had many conquests including a very early outing from Andy C and Ant Miles under their Desired State alias ("Hello Lover (Remix)"), early cuts from Dillinja ("Sax Into The Night") and DJ Hype with his own remix of "Hello Lover". Elsewhere we can physically hear the tempo rising with cuts like Back 2 Basic's string-sizzled "Oh Yeah" and of course Captain Caine himself under his Badman guise. What a history lesson!

The Push feat Chieftain Joseph
Review: Breaks duo The Push turn their hand at drum & bass with this skank-packed take on Chieftan Joseph's 2005 hit "Musical Farmer". Bringing it up to speed with a touching-but-grunting junglised twist, this has summer soundystems stamped all over it. Remix-wise Midway dust off the gully guns and fire off a 22 gun salute while Satin goes for more of a space-aged tunnelling funk twist. Time to harvest.

Review: London's Dj Choppah is a jungle/drum and bass DJ working his way up the scene ladder. Soulculture is Kerry Reardon from Luton who has had releases on Viper and Chronic in recent times. Their collaboration "Know How Fi Chat" gets some killer remixes here: our favourites were Jordan Sett aka Jsett's jump up throwdown, Galvatron (a producer from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire) turned in a pretty nifty rendition too that called to mind the early sounds of Ray Keith or Ink & Loxy, while fellow Londoner Midway brings in the ragga sound system vibes by way of Virus Recordings on his fierce remix which was probably the best!

Review: Blueprint business: few tunes are as influential, unifying and iconic as "The HitMan". So durable and versatile, in fact, Cain's RIQ stable are celebrating it with an all-star series of remixers old and new. On this particular EP we get tripped out by Jinx, Kenny Ken rolls us out like the filthy minded junglists we all are while Toronto Is Broken sends fi de hacksaw with a message of pure bass venom that's arguably one of his best remixes to date. Finally Inna Culture brings the dancehall badness with a stripped back halftime stepper that will melt down every floor from here to Notting Hill.

Review: Over two decades later and we're still "playing that bloody jungle music all night": records don't come any more seminal than Marvellous Cain and Cutty Ranks limb-by-limb-shaking "HitMan". While the original still slews the dance 22 years since its first outing, each of these four updates are highly welcome: the legendary Bladerunner updates his 2013 remix with a little VIP twist, Brum newcomers Jungle Citizenz go for a darker, techier heads-down roll while the ever-crucial DJ Hybrid sickens up the dance with a tubular bass jungle battering. Finally King Yoof switches the vibe with a crisp dancehall riddim that pays homage to Cutty's crucial influence. Send fe de hacksaw!

Review: Month in, month out, Marvellous Cain's RIQYARDROCK just keeps on firing shots. Home to a whole new generation of talent, the jungle hitman continues to fuel the future with deep, dark roll-outs. Here we find him teaming up with Spanish up-and-comer Sound Shifter for four deadly documents. "3Star Cutlass" sharpens with a soft skank before dipping low into rolling territory, "Boerboel VIP" plays a cool game of contrasts with a rifle-like bassline that suddenly switches into a bellowing beast without so much as a word of warning. "Hemch Zumbie" takes us on a star-gazing trip around rave's deeper pastures and "Jumbie Dance" takes a tearing Mind Vortex-style bass riff and stretches it up and down the spectrum. Welcome to the laboratory - safety clothing not included.

Review: Seriously large compilation to dip into here with the ragga vocals of Blade Runner's remix to Marvellous Cain a bomb to start with. Scale yourself further down the 60 selection and you'll find several cuts from Mexican crewman Isaac Maya to raving tear outs from Soulculture. Tim Ryan All Stars serves up something easier on the ears for those red stripe afternoons in the sun, while for something a little more soulful and liquid - perfect for the peak time - check out Sound Shifter's "Loving You Forever". Old school Hospital Records vibes. We said it once and we'll say it again, seriously big.
