Review: HVL has landed on many different labels in recent years, but Rough House Rosie will always be something of a spiritual home for the adventurous deep electro and techno craftsman. Across the Hidden Valley EP he displays a fluid, instinctive approach to composition - "Enslaver" rolls out like a live jam but the detail and control embedded in the track is astounding. "Distom Spook" is charged with nervous acidic energy, while "Lemon Stealer" takes things in a more experimental direction with all manner of snaking synth voices wriggling around a crisp electro beat. "Crow Hill" finishes the EP off with a slow, rolling breakbeat groove and hazy pads for a quintessential wind-down session.
Lady Blacktronika - "Ringo Oiwaka Heaven" - (5:39) 109 BPM
Miruga - "White Moon" - (7:17) 119 BPM
Seal Bient - "Slavery" - (6:42) 125 BPM
Review: Rough House Rosie is back with another selection of sublime tones in the adventurous corner of the deep house playground. The Silent Movie Sounds series never fails to present a fascinating array of producers, and so it is on the fourth volume as Nemanja Krstic seduces with the melodic delights of "Bass Odyssey" and Lady Blaktronika heads into blissed-out territory with the spiritual wonder of "Ringo Oiwaka Heaven". Miruga's "White Moon" is a mysterious, dubbed out affair and Seal Bient heads even further out with the scuffed and muffled flutter of "Slavery". As ever, the vitality of the tracks on this EP can't be ignored for open-minded diggers looking for original, contemporary deep house.
Review: On the second series of Silent Movie Sounds, Rough House Rosie presents selection of four various deep house tracks. Together with Pjotr, who the public knows from his releases on Anton Zap's label Ethereal Sound and his second EP on Udacha, RHR 005 includes addictive tracks from a man behind Udacha record label - A5 and British producer Laak from Austere Records. Gamayun, Russian artist from city of Smolensk has his debut with the track Slum Odyssey.
