Review: Seriously stripped back sleaze delivered by Aussie bass newcomers Swisher. Each cut is a bareback instrumental that's just screaming for some equally lewd hip-hop rhymage to be adorned atop. Of the three, "Left Field" is the most enduring thanks to the ethereal emotion coded deep into the arpeggiated melody. "Slot Machine" marries headphone heaven with dancefloor darkness while "Pyrokeet" is the club banger of the set. Impressive stuff.
Review: Melbourne based Mat Cant is one of Australia's busiest DJs, but here he has found time to produce and release a new EP on his own Scattermusic label. Title-track "Make Believe" is indeed a dreamy synth-heavy excursion into retro UK rave territory. B-side, "Are You Ready" is more housey, but with a baile-funk influence. The variety of ghetto influences continue on remixes of the title track - an electro-bounce remix by Famous Eno, a low-slung hip-hop version by Samplology and a killer minimal tropical bounce mix by Murlo.
