Review: Stu Robertson aka Asok comes through on his very own Scenery label after a rather glorious first outing on the ever-reliable MOS label from Holland. "Hunter" takes a gritty, broken house groove and chucks in a rolling punch made of distorted 4/4 kicks. Conforce appears under his Versalife moniker for the remix of the title track, transforming the original into an even deeper, more sinister affair boasting dreamy pads and a rickety, swinging percussion. "Cabal" is a little lighter and more club-ready, and the same goes for "Millenium 2:2" - what a punch on that bassline! Strong sounds on this sixth release from Scenery.

Review: Liverpool-based producer Bantam Lions has long been part of the Scenery Records family, helping label boss ASOK launch the imprint with 2012's One To One EP. Here he returns with his third release for the label. Lead cut "Recollections" is particularly good, delivering a deep and attractive fusion of fuzzy analogue warm, dreamy melodies and intoxicating chords. He ups the tempo further on "Many Years Later". Which layers dubbed-out chords and swirling textures over an energy-packed techno groove. The accompanying remixes are pretty tasty, too, with The Cyclist particularly impressing with his Detroit techno-goes-lo-fi interpretation of "Recollections". That said, the dreamy, new age-influenced downtempo take from Mood Hut regular Cloudface is pretty darn good, too.

Review: Having plied his trade on labels across the world, Liverpudlian analogue explorer John Heckle sticks closer to home with this EP, popping up on local label Scenery. Heckle's approach to house - raw, uncompromising, exciting and more than a little eccentric - is perfectly suited to Asok's imprint. "Laid Away" surges from the speakers like some long lost Detroit classic, whilst retaining Heckle's unique sound, while "DDT" is a fearsome chunk of robust acid blessed with a seriously heavy bassline. It compliments the track's intense drum machine anarchy perfectly. Remix wise, there's a deeper, woozier take on the title track by Perseus Traxx, while Ksoul and Muteoscillator turn the same cut into an exotic, Afro-tinged analogue deep house gem.

Review: Liverpool-based deep house imprint Scenery is usually on the money. This split EP, featuring two tracks apiece from regular Andy Ash and newcomer Circular Rhythms, is another strong prospect. Ash offers two distinctly different cuts; the intoxicating, bubbling "Dub 2" - a delightful fusion of twinkling, wide-eyed synth melodies, toasty chords and shuffling dub-house drums - and the piano sporting, upbeat "Distribution Theory", which sounds like some long forgotten early '90s Italian deep house gem (think Keytronic Ensemble). Cicrcular Rhythms goes deeper into after-party territory with the becalmed and hypnotic "Untitled Document", before indulging in some analogue fetishism on the wonky, acid-tinged "Circumflex".

Review: In space, can anyone hear your orchestra? Well maybe Deep Space Orchestra know because they sound like they've taken a cosmic trip or two. "We Held On" has that rolling, late 80s Clink Street rave sound with lashings of spaced-out acidic squelches. "Arif" on the other hand is a linear jackin' thing with intense bongo samples and deep, swooping pads. Elsewhere Bantam Lions' retro-electro noodle-houser "No Going Back" gets a deep tom-tom heavy workover by Cottam. Proper house basically.

Review: New label Scenery drops the debut EP from Bantam Lions which features two special remixes from John Heckle. "One To One" opens with piqued pan pipes, funky synths and subtle saxophones allowing John Heckle to bring the jack and analogue persuasion in his high energy remix. Shuffled hats, dusty scraps and spooked out rhodes make up "Control Tower Observations". John Heckles this time pitches down the original's rhodes, throwing in some extra claps to ensure his trademark percussion concussion drum programming is kept in tack.
