Review: London-based label Sense Traxx are back, fresh off celebrating their eighth birthday with their next release here - which is massive to say the least. Boompty house heroes DJ Sneak (Toronto by way of Chicago) and Tripmastaz (Berlin by way of St. Petersburg) team up with new kids on the block Rare Two Inc. for two properly swingin' and trippy jams here. First up is the looped-up and hypnotic deep groove of "Makin' Muzak" followed by the infectiously bass-driven jack of "Song For Derrick" - which will go down a treat at the warm-up or the afterhours alike.

Review: Since debuting in 2011, Ossie has notched up releases on some seriously impressive labels, not least Hyperdub, 20:20 Vision, Wolf Music and Exploited. Here he notches up his first release of 2019: a label debut for Sense Traxx featuring two forthright, bass-heavy rollers. Particularly impressive is techno-temper opener "Better Days", a post-dubstep/UK funky style workout where stabbing vocal samples and jazzy organ motifs skip above a sub-heavy, headline-grabbing bassline and a bustling broken house rhythm. "Change" is pretty tasty, too, with Ossie effortlessly flitting between backwards string samples, rubbery jazz-funk bass and chunky disco-house grooves.

Review: Three very tracky but perfectly serviceable deep/disco house chuggers here from London's Simon Shaw, coming on his own Sense Traxx label. 'Music And Rhythm' itself is up first, looping up tuff, tribal-tinged drums, big undulating bass, male vocal micro-snips and warping pianos redolent of early Madhouse Records, and scattering other spoken vocal bites over the top. 'Yeaahhh!' operates in similar territory but is a bit more upbeat, driving and peaktime-oriented, while completing the EP is 'Jazz Flute', an unsurprisingly jazzy, off-kilter affair which actually only features a few short bursts of the titular instrument.

Review: While yet to really hit the dizzy heights, Cassimm has delivered a string of rock-solid EPs over the last couple of years. "Never Mind" is the London-based producer's first outing on Sense Traxx, and it's really rather good. Blessed with bold builds, big drops and an addictively retro-futurist feel, Cassimm's original version wraps sharp, rave-inspired riffs and impassioned vocal samples around a ludicrously bass-heavy groove. The Mad Villains remix tones down the rumbling sub-bass a little (though not that much) while retaining the original's bustling drums, adding some woozy chords for a hybrid deep house/UK garage feel. Greco (NYC) has no qualms about going all-out on his remix, which is a bustling, bass-heavy stomper designed for major peak-time rotations.
